I've been hunting around on these forums for a couple of weeks now while doing our build. Thank you for posting questions and answers for the rest of the world to read!!
My friend has a 95 Nissan pickup with the ka24 motor, and he blew the head gasket after 460,000 km of abuse and missed oil changes. we both work as mechanics apprentices at a busy shop. We decided to go with the rb swap because we could get the motor, trans, harness and ecu for 1,100 bucks with 60-80k realy easy as they are imported from japan by the truck load. As many of you are aware, we in north america never received any car with an rb20det from the factory.
My friend(bosses kid) is still in high school, but I am no stranger this kind of project.
My Cars:
-05 Subaru Legacy(Liberty) GT, my new toy.... should be stage 2 by the end of the week
-95 Dodge Ram Cummins 12valve.... lets just say I can pull out and pass a car going up hill pulling 10,000 lbs like I was driving the old maxima...... I go though a lot of tires
-1978 Honda Civic 1200. 2.0l EFI swap, full custom everything. My friends call it the pocket car or pocket rocket. Fits in the back of my truck.....
Here is some pick of how we do it in Canadian redneck country...
