  1. Not sure at 8000rpm.. I'm going to suck it and see how they go.

That's pretty overkill.. the 3L+T04Z I mentioned earlier is only running 1x 044 intank.

I asked my tuner a while ago whether I should run a surge tank and he said don't bother, they mounted an 044 nice and low in the tank for me and assured me that it would do the job as that's how they run all their drift cars. It went from surging if under half a tank when throwing 'nuts, to being able to whip 'nuts with no surging under 1/4 of a tank.

I'm only shooting for 500rwhp but I've got 1000cc injectors so IF we ever get E85 over here, I should only need to upgrade the pump setup.

Let me know how you go with the hydraulic lifters man!

Oh okay so you reckn I could get away with just a single 044 in the tank? Pretty much every 30DET I've seen in magazines etc seem to be running a surge tank and 2x 044's hence why I thought I might do the same lol. I got no problem spending the money if thats what it needs but if it aint necessary I guess I won't do it lol.

Sorry for the slow replies guys been having some internet problems hopefully sorted now. Cheers I really appreciate the help!

  2. pretty sure there is a thread for the fuel systems here somewhere,

a stock in tank pump is fine for the lift pump 2-4l seems to be the go for tanks,

make it a round one, as they are meant to swirl the fuel so no air gets in there.

Awesome thanks man! Is this another get one custom made sorta thing or are they fairly commonly available?

  3. Hey

my setup is still in the process of being sourced / built

    but as for surge tank, I'm using a 3L tank to 2 x 044 externals, walbro feed pump, 6 x 1000cc injectors

    on a 26/30 with gt3076r 0.82 on E85... hoping for around 350rwkw...

    :)

Awesome, the 044's seem to be popular in most of the magazine articals I've seen just none of them list the size of the surge tank or lift pump lol. What sort of walbro lift pump are you looking at?

Wish e85 was commonly available over here...tho to be fair Im gonna be using mine on the street mostly so probably not practical lol...but still. lol

  4. For this engine I'm planning to get an internal lift pump surge tank and two Bosch 044 pumps for the surge tank to engine, but I'm just after an idea for the actual surge tank and lift pump...what size surge tank would I need? What brands have you guys use and found good? And what kind of in tank lift pump would I need? As above engine setup will be RB30det with t04z aiming for 500rwhp

  5. Okay, probably won't really be needed then, I'm only really planning to rev limit it at about 8000-8250 or so, so the hydraulic lifters will be able to handle that correct?

  6. Just waiting on my solid lifter conversion kit to arrive.

Its a supertec setup that includes oversize inlet and exhaust valves, Solid lifters, dual valve springs, Retainers.

Dan at ERD organised it for me. Website below

    http://www.erd.com.au/

Awesome, if you don't mind my askin how much did it sting you? PM me if you want.

Let me know how it works out for ya and how easy it is to install

I'd go for something around 260' in the biggest lift you can get (that will still fit your head).

Sounds good lol, now I don't know much bout cams so forgive me if this is a stupid question, if I go ahead with the solid lifter conversion will this affect how much lift there'll be in the head?

  7. Already have a 25 head to use haha

plus over here at least 26 heads are ridiculous prices, waaay more than doing a solid lifter conversion anyway lol (seen a bare rb26 head, ie no valves valve springs cams or cam gears going for near $1800 lol), and since i'm gonna have the 25 head apart to be reconditioned anyway...

which brands make a good solid lifter kit for rb's?

  8. not sure about the prices, we pay 900 for them in AUS, not sure if its 900 in NZ or what the go is.

i think clearancing will be all,you will have to have a decent search on the hydraulic lifters in the head.

as i said before, depending, some people have issues at over 350rwkw,i think larger cams may impact also? dont quote me on it though.

in the below thread are all the RB cam specs

    http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/post-a282987-

I found the NZ version, it's $1200 nz...darn you auzzies and your exchange rate etc lol

will have a look into the lifters and see what I can find out, short on time atm haven't looked yet

Really depends where you want to make the power, my mate has 280' 10.5mm cams in his 25DET/30+T04Z, it's a bit laggy but fkn screams to 8000+, oh and sounds awesome :)

I'm sticking with the DE cam for now as they made decent power in the last 30 setup, 365rwkw @ 21psi through a pair of 2540s (bad), stock throttlebody/plenum (RB20), and I'd prefer the lower down from the shorter duration, I'm not bolting a HUGE turbo (GT35R) on so small cams and keeping the rev limit sensible (7500ish depending on when it stops making power) is the name of the game for me.

Haha I checked out a few videos of t04z + worked cam rb's and they do sound f***ing AMAZING! lol

More looking for midrange power than huge lag tho...do you think the Kelford 272's 9.35 or the 262 9.3 would still respond pretty well without lagging like a freight train?

  9. Yeah, i was never planning on using the standard cams, just wanted to know their specs so I can get an idea of what sorta increase any aftermarket ones were.

For those ones (H182B) I would only have to get the head clearanced for them to work ok?

Also I cant really tell from the website, I assume the prices are US $?

  10. Haha and somehow I think it's only gonna get worse not better :(

so still need some idea on cams, anybody have ideas? Basically want mild gain but don't wanna have to modify the head extensively (doing full recon, mild port, reseat valves and aftermarket valve springs, adjustable cam gears)

anybody know what stock cam specs are for r32 25de head?

  11. ha yeah, price is always a key issue!

they build mild engines aswell though.

anyway, make sure you get a split pulse/twin srcoll manifold when getting a split pulse/twin scroll turbo.

i still dont think you need the TO4Z for your power goals, but it gives you head room for down the track!

Yeah, I know it's a bit over the top, but i'd rather do it once and do it right, and I just have a feeling that I'd probably end up changing to the t04z later on anyway so I figure I'm just saving myself time lol

And yeah I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get addicted to power hunting (I've already upped my power goal from when I started) so this is playing it safe lol

  12. Yeah fair enough, i'll have a look around see what I can find out

Yeah, they're doing my r34 GTR VSpec II Nur...after i win lotto :D

lol yeah i did think about it but in the end it was just too expensive, plus to be honest i'm not looking for a car that insane lol

  13. sweet as, yeah i know a few good fabricators here i'll have a chat to, just wondering if any of the big companies make em off the shelf like lol

yeah i'll check rips out too, already planning on using a rips intake so getting an exhaust manifold at the same time makes sense even to me haha

  14. My old man was sitting at a red light one day, idiot next to him was towing a hired trailer and on a cellphone(still legal here in NZ at that stage) the left turn arrow went green and cellphone boy thought it was general green light, floored it through the intersection, classic 1950's ford went straight into trailer, lifted it up in the air, trailer comes back down on the ford and completely totals it, luckily nobody hurt but I really felt for the guy who spent 15 years doing up this ford....plus i had to wonder if cellphone boy's trailer hire insurance covered it...lol

  15. Cheers for the link/picture D_Stirls i now get the idea behind split pulse lol makes a lotta sense when ya figure it out!

Okay sweet so .84a/r t04z split pulse and a suitable manifold?

It already sounds awesome just typing it lol I cant wait haha

In terms of a split pulse manifold for rb30's who of the big companies make em? or is it more likely to be a custom made job?

  16. Just make sure you get a twin scroll rear housing and keep it small and get a manifold to suit.

    Sweet thanks mate

Can you give me some dimesions there in terms of "keep it small"? And what exactly is a twin scroll rear housing lol

  17. Having had a bit of a read through some more stuff i'm thinking i'm gonna definately get some forged conrods and go for a t04z. Would the engine as i'm plannin it atm handle that size turbo? what, if anything, would i need to change for that to work well? The head is definately gonna get a light porting and stronger valve springs, adj cam gears and aftermarket cams plus 850cc injectors adjustable fuel reg and so forth

Also, just thinking about using the TiAL 50mm BOV, would that be high flow enough? I like the sound of em lol but if it won't flow enough i'll go for a another option. What do you guys reckon?

  18. Picked up the first lot of goodies today

    post-71760-1273743735_thumb.jpg

First step on the way :( smoky burnouts here i come! lol

  19. Had a look at the throttle body, seemed fine, but gave it a clean anyway, its still not idling right tho.

Can't see any sort of aftermarket sensors on mine

What do you mean by a mass meter? Similar to air flow meter? Mine's still using standard air flow meter

  20. Lol 60% of skylines you see in NZ are bogan ass skid hacks which get the living shit thrashed out of them

Haha yup, and at any one time a good 15-20% of the bogan ass skid hacks are impounded for sustained loss lol

Not speaking from personal experience... :(

  21. What are you using the car for, I only ask this as Im unhappy with my outcome, I would rather more response than to a turbo that comes on late and hard, my set up is more suited to drag but I wanted track. The spool time is crap, its like waiting-waiting-waiting-wheel spin.

Fair enough, what turbo& setup are you using? I'm mainly going to be using mine for street, with the odd track/drift/drag, basically looking for an all rounder ay.
