  1. i've been working on road safety policy and there is NO correlation between road accidents and speed cameras at all . in fact , the opposite seems to happen .. in victoria more cameras = increased toll . in uk and europe , less cameras = no increase and in some areas drops .

its revenue only .. state labor in nsw has effed up so badly with budgets , they need fine $$ .... when fixed camera revenue dropped instead of saying great people mustve slowed down , they announced mobile ones to make up budget shortfalls and a lot more [ hundreds of millions of $$ ].

the rta and the nsw govt are in cahoots to raise money with cameras, pretending its good for safety while knowing thats just fiction .

fortunately , the opposition have already announced compulsory driver training for l-platers and have spoken out against cameras and in favour of high visibity hwp instead . lets hope they win and big time so they can make big changes to the policies we all know are commonsense not revenue based .

  2. True, but there's no denying that a lot of speed traps are set up intentionally to raise revenue.

Putting this money into repairing dodgey roads would be the first point of reducing road accidents IMO.

More police patrolling the roads instead of sitting in mobile speed vans would be the next step to encouraging safer driving on the roads. lets face it, police presence on the roads discourages people from speeding and driving in a negligent manner... not a chance that they could get caught by a hidden camera and meanwhile it doesn't stop a fatality from occuring...

here here . in nsw , radar / laser traps are used to tax motorists for exceeding an arbitrary limit set below the actual traffic flow speed . money straight into the state govts pocket .

we need visible patrols and proper driving training and safer roads . not speed / revenue cameras .

remember that he RTA deliberately sets speed limits BELOW the safe traffic speed and the ACTUAL traffic speed because they treat drivers as morons + its easy to raise revenue if they do . have a look at the south cost beyond kiama .. was always a safe 100k limit , overnight without reason they changed to 80k which everyone ignores as its too slow . the locals are pissed . the radar traps are there now . not before . only after the signs were changed

  3. nice card and 4 pairs of really LOUD socks . and breakfast out . nice .

missing my old man on fathers day . he passed away a while back so its nice to be with the kids as much as poss .

  4. are we allowed to make MX5 jokes here ?? the driving regs allow mx5's to wear arseless chaps at track days :]

sorry .. they are a great car and a good value track choice .

shame you specced RWD . we've just done a fwd track car renaultsport clio 172 . 7k to buy in top nick with logbooks and 12 months rego . the motors run forever . we put coilovers on / rotors n pads / rear bolt in cage / stripped out interior / harness / sticky tyres / and a LSD we got at a great price .. while fitting lsd got gearbox checked over and fitted new drive shafts just in case .

it now drives like new , paint shnes like new , weighs under 1000kg , has 106kwatw stock except for intake , handles like a dream and owes bugger all .

its fully regoed , looks stock so the plod dont give it a second look . does easy 12's with a reasonable driver at wakefield . maybe into 10s with a good steerer .

a pleasure to own and drive ...

  5. my evo [ i'm here as i want a r35 :] needed 1000cc injextors and twin pumps to get E85 setup .

is it worth it ? i got 301 atw on 98 v 330ish atw on E85 .. and i live near an E85 outlet but unless you cart around a 200ltr drum in the boot have found you really cant travel out of town on E85 map as theres little chance of getting E85 .

and getting out the lap top to change maps .. draining the tank ... is it worth it ? not sure unless youre very seriously tracking , really need the grunt and have a towcar full of drums . [ read a thread that E85 being supplied at some major tarmac events though ] . and if you can get a switch to change maps do it !

  6. So I'm thinking something in between like a Golf GTI or Golf R will be safer for me and keep me going for another 12 months.

    What do you think?

if you werent buying the gtr ...... i think you should get the new RS megane 250 , eats the gti as a drivers car according to all the reports . i'm waiting to see one next month when they arrive .

+ every cock where i live has a silver gti to go shopping in with their boyfriend / girlfriend as they cant afford an auto TT , so it puts the otherwise quite decent vw out of the picture . :/ . sort of like a yuppy corolla as mentioned above .

btw .. thats a great car you've bought . i test drove one 2 weeks back for the 2nd time and just want one !!!

  7. drove an R35 a month or 2 back and had another test drive today .

    i just want one .

and its so friken quick , who needs mods ???

anyway , theres a neesan in my near future , looking forward to getting on here as an owner soon .
