A Melbourne couple say they were threatened with a taser, strip searched, and told to delete footage of the encounter from their phone after being stopped by Queensland Police officers moments after they left the Gold Coast airport.

Preschool teacher Hayley Van Hostauyen posted video of the encounter after she and her partner were pulled over in a video which has since skyrocketed to over one million views.

Police will tell their side of the story in tonight's news bulletin at 4pm.

“I was strip searched on the side of a major freeway by four officers and told to get on the ground."

During the short video, one of the officers explains to the couple that Queensland police have the power to search anyone suspected of being members of an outlaw motorcycle gang under VLAD laws.

"We have legislation down here, if we identify a potential member of a criminal motorcycle gang we have the power to stop, detain and search you," the officer says.

After the man asks whether or not his neck tattoos were the sole reason for a search being conducted, the officer replies: "Yep, absolutely".

“The other female officer tells me I can’t film, grabs me on the throat then pulls a taser on me.

She said she was then told by one of the female officers "we will make a deal with you! You delete that footage or else we will confiscate yours and your girlfriends phone for 28days so I unlocked my phone and the female officer in charge deleted the footage!"

“Well lucky my phone saves deleted photos and video, so everyone feel free to share,” the post continues.

Queensland police have confirmed the matter is under review but declined to make any further comment.

  2. thought id bring this back from the dead,

i bought mortal combat x the other day, first time ive used the ps4 in months.

i used the play the old mc on consoles when i was a kid and loved it, so i seen the new one in eb games the other day and thought id have a go. Holy crap my button mashing skills have lacked since i was a kid.

the game itself is pretty good, the story is ok ish. but the main reason i got this was for the button mashing madness and it doesnt disapoint, unless your supid dexterous and have massive thumb calluses you will struggle to get big combos in this game, i suck massively online.

it looks the goods and plays well allthough it doesnt really have any replayability and i just seem to get stomped playing pvp

overall i give it a drunk times fun 7.5/10

  3. i finally got off my ass and got some argon so ive been having a crack at welding this arvo.

i cant seem to get a weld pool going in ally, all im trying at the moment is to run a weld pool down 3mm ally box, im using zircon tungston (grey) 2,4mm with a size 7 shroud. 7l/m gas flow

these are the setting i had, i tried between 100-170 A all with no luck.

    ILMrD3sl.jpg

what are some base settings and tips to get me started?

after about an hour of stuffing around i had a crack at mild steel, same shroud and tungsten i just cleaned up and sharpened the tip and put the welder on dc and it worked no dramas.

a bit rough as i was free handing it but this was my first go, 80A welding 1.6mm 25x25 box

    Ygno5Pql.jpg

im booked in to do a tafe course but it doesnt start till july, so some beginner tips and settings would be awesome

    cheers,

    shaun

  4. i ended up getting this

    IpMPCRVl.jpg

the blokes at the shop(global welding supplies) said its made by unimig, it just doesnt come with the huge pricetag. Its got a 3 year warranty

I also got all the ancillary gear

    xDHAfTul.jpg

allthough ill probably pick up some more tungstens and different sized shrouds later on, all i need now is to pick up a bottle of argon, fit a 15A gpo in the garage get a heap of scrap metal and start practicing.

I also picked up a licon auto darkening helmet

    1c2oV5Ml.jpg

Ill jump back on with some more pics and probably a fair few questions once i start having a crack :)

  5. Have you advertised in OzFoz yet as well?

    Your price is good.

Even an 06 Foz XT (SG9) with 220,000Km is selling for nearly twice your price.

cheers terry i forgot all about ozfoz, ive chucked it up on there now. if i dont sell it this week ill probably just sell it to a car yard. so hopefully someone picks up a bargain as im not a big fan of car dealers

cable run to back ready for a sub and another amp
    turbosmart BOV
kingspring lowered springs on KYB shocks
gold flecked paint (with a bit of tlc and a cut a polish itll come up pretty smick)

  7. Repco make good quality tools for a sensible price and have life time warranty on them

if you go the repco route dont get there powerbuilt gear (not sure if they still sell it but they still do warranty swaps on it) i go a 500 odd piece powerbuilt double sliding toolbox setup with my tools for the trade about 6 years ago, most of it is all good however the ratchet handles' reverse switch falls out of them as they are poorly designed (they get replaced under warranty but its a pain taking them back and waiting for replacements). also the sockets are very lightly engraved with sizes so after a while its impossible to read. It doesnt effect there use its just an inconvienance

  8. You need AC if you want to tig aluminium

    Also

Don't buy a bunnings welder...In 2 years from now when you need spares/consumables you wont be able to get them....I get this every 2nd day at work

Someone got a "bargain" off ebay or at repco/bunnings etc and they need consumables.

Our answer is "good luck" because you can't buy them.

If you want to TIG aluminium and dont want to spend 5-7k than buy a Unimig 200AC/DC (the new "Razor" version) We sell them everyday for 1600 bucks with a foot control and can get parts just about anywhere.

cheers that sounds like what im after, where abouts do you work?

  9. bit of a thread dig but here goes anyway, im looking to build an ally tube tray for my new hilux and am looking to pick up a new welder and do it myself.

Ive done a tafe course on stick and mig years ago but havent had stuff all to do with tig.

So what would you recommend to buy? ive got a budget of a few grand.

i saw a combi welder (arc, mig, dc tig) at bunnings today for 1300 or so but figured id do some research before spending up.

    cheers, shaun

  10. Did you end up getting it?

Somehow slipped under the radar for me, saw it today while I was out, looks a bit like Need for Speed was in the Pro-Street etc days, which honestly wouldnt bother me. I quite liked modding the cars and driving around in open world. It was fairly arcadey yes, but still plenty of fun.

yeah i got it, its the best driving game ive played on PS4 so far and its huge, the map is ridiculous it can take 10min+ just to drive to where your next mission starts.

The mods are a bit lacking as you just win upgrades in races. Also it takes a long time to save up enough money to buy other cars, i still only have the starter car.

ive probably played about 8 hrs of it now and its starting to get frustrating as hell, one little stuff up and you have to restart the race/mission.

Id say its worth getting, the driving physics aren't to bad allthough it is a bit to arcady for my liking. Also PvP racing atm is useless, you wait an age to get a race and then you get booted and playing with randoms in your crew is useless as they constantly quit out of missions

    id give it a 6.5/10

  11. i took my forrester in to a tyre place for new tyres and an alignment, asked the bloke at the shop to see if he could find a knock that had developed a few days earlier. (i hadnt looked and figured they could have a quick check while the wheels were off). got it back and he told me my shocks were stuffed and told me he could supply and instal new coilovers. i took it home jacked it up and noticed my swaybar link was sheared clean off and knocking on the lca. right behind the left rear wheel, about as obvious as you can get. makes me wonder how they aligned my rears or if there tyre fitters are blind. totally useless

  12. need for speed rivals sucks on anything. I was really excited to have a racing game on PS4, and it was so disappointing it wasnt even funny. Only managed to play for about half an hour before I'd had enough

Shift made it seem like they were really going somewhere, but Rivals is just crap. I'd rather play underground to be honest

this! so much this, i bought it a week ago and played for probably 20min, what a shit game.

  13. i remember seeing a similar topic a while back but i think it was just road rc cars.

thought id start a new one for everything remote controlled

this is my traxxas brushless emaxx with a new airbrushed case (courtesy of my mate). it spends more time on its roof than its wheels but its good fun

    so who has what?

  14. bit of a thread revival but i was just looking for a decent trolley jack. costco ones on ebay are now in excess of $400, there is even one listed for $800!

i ended up ordering one of these

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-TON-ALUMINIUM-HYDRAULIC-TROLLEY-FLOOR-RACING-JACK-LOW-PROFILE-WITH-DUAL-PUMPS-/350707460829

i talked with the seller on the phone and seems like a good deal, has a 12month warranty and i was told they've only ever had one returned. ill update next week when it arrives

  15. Perfect! Any idea why there is a price difference between the two options that came up? And is there really any different between that Stinger kit and this one:

    http://www.elite-electronics.com.au/In-Car_Entertainment/Accessories/Amp_Wiring/Stinger_SK6241_4-Gauge_Amplifier_Power_Wiring_Kit

My biggest question though, is the amp specifies a 60A fuse. This seems pretty small compared to what many wiring kits offer (many are at least 120A). How important is it to stick to this? I obviously don't want to melt anything...

the fuse for your cable is for overload/short circuit protection of the cable only (like if your positive falls out of the terminal and shorts to ground), it does nothing to protect your amp (itll have a built in fuse for this) as your only running the 1 amp you would have to do something catastrophic to cause an overload fault (the amp fuse will blow first) so the fuse is really just there to blow in a short cct (cut wire, loose terminal etc)

im not sure what the current capacity of 4awg is off the top of my head but i imagine it'd take a few hundred amps to get it hot enough to damage anything so 120a fuse would be fine the 60a recommendation is just saying you shouldnt go smaller than that.

i just bought 4awg cable for my stereo instal from jaycar, it was around $8m, so cable plus lugs and fuse holder were less than $50

  16. Went and checked them out today. The exact same ones but a 5 piece set was nearly double the price.

There was two sets left after I grabbed a set if anyone was interested. The chullora store.

ive had a few sets of felo screwdrivers, they are definitely worth the money. i used them everyday as a sparky with no dramas. only ever had one break and that was the terminal flathead and only after a retarded apprentice used it to lever a 2mm thick bit of tin out of a 20mm holesaw.
