  1. I test drove the Audi TT-RS before I bought the GTR and was not super impressed with it. Lovely interior...and much improved exterior with all the add on bits...but I still felt it looked too much like the original TT (esp from the rear) which IMO is a very bad thing. Even the cooler RS model still looked faggy. I think its overpriced for what it is and so I imagine the same situation with the lower level TT-S.

I think the 370Z or BMW would be a better pick. Also the 370 and BMW will not make you look like a fag, unlike the audi TT-S.

  2. I really wanted to avoid posting in this thread....but alas..

I'm not here to crusade the R35. I bought it...my choice...I don't really listen or read into opinions that lack intelligence to make them.

    But just a few things.

    1. I respect reading posts from birds and domino...I think they are intelligent and articulate writers.

    2. Its rather difficult reading posts from someone who thinks 'vein' refers to a characteristic of self pride and conceit, rather than a blood vessel that carries oxygenated blood to the heart.

    3. You really cannot accidentally turn VDC off...you need to hold it down for a number of seconds. It also does not mean you void your warranty. Although being stuck in snow or mud in a GTR is highly unlikely.

    4. Birds I do agree with you that not all haters of the R35 are jealous or ill-informed...although this is correct, if you closely examine the posts from said haters, you may find a substandard form of argument. e.g 'vein'

  3. My friend owns a stage 3 Audi S4. He installed a radar and laser detector. When I sit in his car all I hear is a voice warning 'K-band!' and he slows down. Don't know how it works for him but he said its saved him enough within a year to have justified the purchase of the unit. I'll have to get one I think for my GTR. I think he uses beltronics. Or was it something called spectre? Its undetectable.

  4. umm you do realise nissan was using computerised all wheel drive, all wheel steering etc on the R32 GTR around 4 years even before your r33 went into production :(

getting back on topic, the op is right in that aftermarket parts are unnecessarily expensive for the R35 - 1K for JDM sways? I paid half that for the same brand on my 350 years ago. And i dont buy into that, just because its a more expensive car to buy initially, the parts must therefore be more expensive. Thats dealer bs, like porsche/bmw charging me 1k for an oil change, when as far as i can tell, all oil drain plugs unscrew the same

$1k for JDM sways??? Crap. Yes your right then. That is unjustified mark up.

  5. Wow I'm shocked anyone replied to this question. Your a decent man handbrake. I'll give it a go.

Well methinks the OP lacks a basic grip on the English language so I cannot very well say this... 'why don't you try doing a bit of research. Even a mediocre internet or magazine search will give you the answer. 'brilliant', 'astounding', 'supercar', 'masterful engineering' e.tc. e.t.c for some reason get thrown around a lot. Also winner of multiple awards such as best car and best performance car of the year.'

I can't suggest he do that because the poor bloke may not be able to use the internet very well. Although well enough to post on the GTR forum. Hmmmm.

To answer though... its an engineering marvel. Perhaps the most advanced, ferociously fast sports car you may ever drive/own. Anyone that wishes to launch 50x on a cold start probably can break any transmission.

I like this part ...'even BNR34 is better a lot, is it?'

translated: 'I believe my car is better than the R35'

answer: No. Sorry. No it is not.

Also parts for the R35 are expensive because the car is in a different league. Its $180,000 and does very very fast things on a track.

ps. I recommend you look into a Toyota camry. I hear very good things about their reliability

  6. If you cant find a competent solicitor contact these guys. http://www.speedingfineconsultants.com/

I read that website. It made me want to cry. I have been royally f***ed by dodgy police by the exact scenarios pointed out. Police hiding at the bottom of a hill, around a bend, falsely quoting me, road works at early hours of the morning with not a worker in sight...you name it. Wow...is this for real? I see police hiding ALL the time. Surely thats allowed.

  7. Ordering to Nissan Japan goes in late this month for MY11s (according to two Dealer Principals) and dealerships appear keen to lock in orders before this date arrives.

I could be wrong but I am getting the feeling that the best time for a good deal on an 11 is now.....

..also g35me is selling his 2010 GTR I believe for a bit of a bargain. You should check it out. Just don't ask him about his car being in an accident! ...you might get banned  :P

  8. I didn't really think it was off topic since it's about updates on the r35.

I have been trying to calculate my finances but my budget only allows me a late 09 2nd Hand right now. But it seems to be worthwhile waiting for a 2012 model

    ok fair enough.

    2012 will be worthwhile yes.

Affordable to someone scraping for an 09? Probably not.

There is debate now about how much the 2012 will be. The consensus seems to be around the $200,000 mark. I really doubt it will be the same as a 2010 model considering the changes are rather significant and Nissan Aus will def pass that extra charge to the customer.

ps the older model can get an ECU upgrade to allow for launch control without turning off VDC. Chime in people if this is not the case. Also do try and remember that without launching your only slower by a very small margin.

  9. What's the situation with voiding warranty by launching the car repeatedly? Couple of years ago I remember the US Market making a fuss about people breaking gearboxes or something and Nissan would not honour the warranty die to some technicallity.

Any updates on this would be very appreciated. There should be a sticky about all this.

    Off topic much?

New launch control does not require VDC off. Its all about VDC. Not so much the 'repeated launches'. You looking to buy a 2010 or 2011 GTR?

  10. To the guy driving the black Skyline R34 GTR on Blackburn Rd 4/11/10 about 9pm. I was driving the s15 and we had a brief chat.

    Nice car :D

PM me if your on here so I can have a closer look. Ill bring the GTR if you like.

To the indian guy at nandos burwood who drove the white skyline with the green plates, your car isn't turbo is it? Sounded NA. I actually didn't know skylines came non-turbo...and I ask myself...why have one? Due to the law for P platers? A money thing? I know a P plater who drives an s2000 to avoid this turbo thing. Wouldn't that have been a wiser choice?

  11. i wouldnt want a dealer sourced repair shop to touch my car

if it's annoying you, just wait till the front gets stone chipped, and get it done yourself

I was informed from the dealership that they only have one repair shop that is certified to fix/paint the GTR. e.g Nissan FTG use Blackburn Motor Body in blackburn. Is this a bit of dealership hogwash? Just asking. If something should happen to the car what do you suggest?

  12. Basing my prediction on the current R34 GT-R prices, that bottomed out at around 45-50K for an 11 year old ones, I can with almost 100% confidence state that the R35 GT-R's in a decent condition will never cost anything less than 75K, even in 10 years time.

People hoping for a huge price crash are forgetting that these cars are only 18months old right now - they will never be affordable to people that struggle to buy cars like STI's or EVO's these days.

    +1

    DEFINITELY agree

  13. they wont raise prices, they need to sell them afterall

new models are a given, i bought my 2010 new too, if you cant accept the depreciation hit the instant you drive out of the showroom, buy used

I can and have already accepted the depreciation hit and indeed I am ok with this. So you think, and you could very well be right here, they will charge the same as the 2010 model even with the added features? Lower CD, power hike, lower emission e.t.c? What if nissan aus feel they have a market for a $200k GTR? There were plenty of buyers for a $182k one (myself included). I remember the 2009 model priced at $165k when it first arrived.

Has anybody heard anything about pricing?

  14. 2010 came with nav, ipod integration, auto headlights, improved launch control requiring VDC to remain on, tweaked suspension and gearbox settings, but mechanically and visually identical to 2009

2012 has tweaks to suspension, chassis strengthening, exterior visual changes and extra power (30-35kw in Aus spec i believe)

imo a full exhaust and off the shelf ecu tune on a 2009/2010 will more than make up the power deficit to the 2012, but if you're going to leave it completely stock and want the warranty then best go for the 2012. if you want to mod for power go for a 2009 as warranty will be expiring soon anyway

US prices have risen with the 2012, but i doubt that will happen here

I'm of the opinion that our prices will rise on the 2011 manufactured models. 10k, 15k? With all the extras on the 2012, surely that would justify a decent price hike. I would be pretty pissed if a 2012 cost the same as my 2010...for obvious reasons

  15. My friend appeared in court for one of his employees. He thought they were very reasonable when you don't try to worm your way out and willing to plead guilty. I will still consider lawyer after your comment though.

I'll also stick to my plan and just go watch for a day next week or something to get a feel for how they work and how I should proceed.

Hope you get a positive outcome from this but I really think you should get a lawyer. I have personally been in similar situations to you and have had to go to court. Twice. Judges do like the defendant to have a lawyer do the talking. Its easier for them in terms of getting through 30 pointless boring cases a day. The lawyer will put your case to the judge and make you look a lot better than you would yourself. It also would pay to do a defensive driving course PRIOR to your court date. Having that as part of your lawyer's 'speech' will improve your result. If you have not done any volunteer work or community service...go and get some hours under your belt. Judges like that as well. Its actually better I think to present a positive character reference and have a list of commendable things about yourself than worming your way around a black and white guilty charge. The higher your reference status e.g. a doctor, politician, police officer e.t.c the better the value of your reference. The judge will look into all of these considerations before giving you a harsh penalty. Also...if your lucky and the 5-10 cases before you are serious drink driving offences...it makes you look better.

    Good luck...hope this helps.

  16. I find a trend here.

Those that don't own an R35 like to make statements like ('The R35 should be manual blah blah blah....xx dollars spent on xx car e.g. R34 would dust the R35 blah blah blah')

Those that own R35...just shake their heads and smile. When you own and drive an R35...you are enlightened on the gearbox choice...you are educated on its abilities and just know, even wiothout racing against xx car with xx mods...that you would have no problem educating them on the difference.

I don't wish to disrespect non-R35 owner opinions...but making sweeping statements about a car you have never driven is unwise.
