  1. Thought id post this up incase anyone was wondering. $85k for the base G37. Less then i expected, but still too much..

Further to my previous correspondence, I have attached a pre-launch brochure for you for now and hope to have the full brochure, with specifications, available within the next 10 days.

Pricing was released this week for the new model and is set at $84,970.00 for the GT Premium Coupe, $92,950.00 for the S Premium Coupe and $97,570.00 for the S Premium Convertible; these figures all become more impressive when I highlight that they are inclusive of all on road costs making the G Coupe and Convertible extremely compelling alternatives to the status quo.

Our demonstration models arrived yesterday and are available to drive at your convenience.

I will be in touch throughout the week to see if I can help any further; please let me know if I can answer any questions or help to arrange a drive for you at any stage.

    Many thanks,

    Bla Bla

  2. interesting.. It does looks like a remote start thing.. It could be also to shut the car down if its stolen. Although if the thief isnt an idiot (but i guess they mostly are), then he could find the cable behind the antenna and cut it.. Seems overly complicated though, I would have thought most car thefts these days occur directly after they have stolen your keys first.. so if that thing is hanging off your keys, not much good..

  3. The one on the drivers side is for a panasonic tv tuner (probably dealer fitted). The tuner itself was located at the top of the boot in my car (but they could have put it anywhere) FYI its useless in Australia but good thing is you can remove it and use the wiring to install an aussie compatible one.

The thing on the passenger side i have not seen before. Im assuming its a antenna for mobile phone.

The little tiny little things in the corner are ultrasonic sensors for the alarm.

    hope this helps

  4. If your V36 is a USDM 2009+ model equivalent, then I recommend the DBA 4000T3 series. They have the 42314S (front) and 42315S (rear) which are a very nice slotted disc and no, you won't get raped if you find yourself a reputable parts supplier. These are listed for the "Infiniti G37 Sport Package (355mm front)" in DBA's international catalogue but they are available locally from DBA so your supplier can definitely order them in. After all, they're all made in Australia before they get shipped to the US anyway! :)

These are the identical discs listed for the 370Z with Brembo brakes.

    They measure in at:

    ---------- Diameter - Height - Thickness

    42314 - 354.6 - 49.5 - 32

    42315 - 350 - 62 - 20

Do your homework on the dimensions though as I don't see any further data about them, regarding thicknesses, hub heights, etc. I got my V36 only in February this year and I haven't driven it since April so I haven't got access to my FSM from here to see what the Nissan specifications are.

And if anyone challenges what I'm saying about their availability, I'll personally kick their arse. I had a very short argument with my usual brakes supplier because he had a young punk who thought he knew everything and figured I couldn't be trusted. With so many idiot customers out there ruining it for the rest of us, I can't say I blame him entirely but he could've been a little more accommodating. Anyway, when I told him the part numbers, he insisted that I tell him what vehicle it was for. I told him, just to appease him but then he told me because it wasn't in his catalogue, he couldn't order them in. I told him to call DBA and ask them for the price and availability of them over the phone. He refused. I asked for his boss, explained to him what DBA told me when I checked with their sales department directly and all was sorted with an apology.

Yeah thanks for that. I know what you mean, most suppliers cant be stuffed doing there homework about different models. Unless its a Crappadore, forget about it..

Its funny you mention the DBA 4000's they were my next pick.. Ive seen a lot of good reviews on them and they actually come up cheaper then buying stock rotors from nissan.

  5. thanks clearing that up Ross. I thought ALL 370z's had the big brake setup the same as S and SP v36's?? It seems maybe not the case. According to this ad some 370z's came with a "standard" brake package which these rotors are intended for... I think they might have put 370z on the ad by accident and its meant to be 350z.. I googled the part number and it comes up with 350z/murano...

Sean thanks for the 2c. Not the advice i was after though.. Im not looking at doing bathurst anytime soon. I just want to replace my OEM rotors with same or slightly better without getting raped by the 5 million % markup that perth businesses like to add on. Im open to suggestions if you have any.

  6. Hi guys,

need some advice. Im 99% sure these will fit on my car. v36 coupe SP (akebono brakes).. Check ebay link:

    http://www.ebay.com....19d447e18b#shId

I wanted to double check before i commited to the purchase so i emailed the seller..

    This was the response:

"We dont have anything for the V36 skyline, if the 370z rotors fitted, the RDA catalog would have also specified the V36."

What do you think? So far any brake places ive spoken to dont know jack about the v seriers skylines and im starting to think these guys are the same..

    cheers

    Tom

  7. Shiva, i'll try and put this into perspective for you.

To change the colour of your car completely, you need to paint inside the doors/boot/engine bay etc. That means they will need to take out the engine and interior. Thats a lot of labour, and the whole job could cost between 5k - 10k. They might also f**k your interior in the process and not put shit back together properly. In my opinion its not worth it. Your better off selling your car and buying the colour you like.

Your other option would be stick as close as possible to black. ie just change to black pearl over the top and a new coat of clear to freshen your paint up. It will look brand new when its done, the only thing is the pearl wont be in the engine bay or inside the doors.. Nobody would even notice that. You could probably get this done for around 2k for a good job. (FYI you could probably get it done for less but it will show...)

Also from your questions, it sounds like you dont have any painting experience so i dont reconmend doing it yourself.

  8. Your car looks great as well projectx. Which one is yours? Does your tail lights stay on btw?

None of those 3 is mine.. I pulled that pic from the MYG37 forum. Its a pretty involved and time consuming modification to get the LED's into the headlights like that. The main problem being, if one little LED blows, you will need to take your car apart again to fix it. The results are so nice though!! My lights are stock right now apart from LED parkers. I was lucky and managed to retain factory HID setup though..

  9. I agree with this sentiment. I've always believed my car is for me to admire, not to hope that others will admire it and recognise me for it. While I'll admit I stayed away from the R-series purely because of the bad stigma those cars got thanks to the idiotic hoons out there and the unwanted attention that it may possibly draw, I still prefer the V-series anyway based purely on the fact that for me, they're a couch on great performing wheels. It's why I loved my old J30 Maxima then and the same reason why I love my V36 Skyline now.

Another good reason to rebadge to infiniti..

I was missunderstood there a bit by Seano350GT. What i said was skyline drivers dont recognise the V series as real skylines.. Not that i dont get recognised as a skyline driver... I couldnt care less if i dont get recognised as a skyline driver for exactly this stigma you talk about.

the fact is, although R and V series are both great cars, they are quiet different in many ways. Like you said "The Max", the V series is very much more about luxury then the R series therefor not everyones cup of tea. Personally i love the V series for the same reason you do, because you get the best of both worlds..

  10. All the American's that i talk to on the V35 Coupe Driver's FB page know that their G35's are Skylines, they just call them "G'S" and G35's because that's what they are made as in their country. Surely you guys understand that.

In regards to rebadging your V35 as an Infiniti purely because you THINK that people don't recognise you as a Skyline driver, that is the silliest things i've heard.. stand for what the car is manufactured as who gives a f*ck if people don't think you're a "real skyline driver"

each to their own... Id prefer to be an infiniti driver now that the car is available here in oz and called infiniti.. whether i actually get around to changing the badges is another story.. :)

  11. I did hear at one stage that it was a Carlos Ghosn idea, the Nissan designers weren't going to give it the Skyline label originally. Maybe that is what has upset the R series guys?

    i wouldnt be surprised.

Carlos Ghosn would have been one of the main reasons that things panned out the way they did.. But i dont think thats a bad thing.

Nissan wouldnt be were they are today without him. (not just from sports car sense. They are doing pretty well in general and heading in a good direction imo)

If the worst thing we can do is complain about what they called each model then they did pretty damn good.. why??? because.

The V35 is awesome. The V36 is awesome. The R35 is f***ing brilliant. The Z cars are awesome.

Its a far cry from what Toyota brought to the table in 10 years. Not saying the 86 is a bad car.. Just that its far overdue.

  12. Che? I think I read that wrong because it sounds like you are saying that the V35 and V36 were designed as an Infinity for the Yanks and then the Japanese just made it RHD and put "Nissan Skyline" on it for their market?

If that is what you actually think and I didn't read that incorrectly, can you please explain the 2001/2002 V35 Skyline?

Pretty sure the G35 started in the US in 2003, yes?

I dont understand your question.... If your referring to the 10 year gap i mentioned.. I not sure if its exactly 10 years but i know there was a long period between the r34 and r35.

what im trying to say is rather then continuing on with the R series skyline, it APPEARS that it was more convinent to use the V series as a replacment for the R series until the R35 was finally released.. So in other words, they had 3 gaps to fill in the early 2000's, 1) infiniti coupe for US market. 2) skyline for japan 3) 350z market world wide. Rather then creating 3 individual platforms, they shared the same one to cut costs. Get what i mean? FYI -- dont take any of this literally.. Its just my observation without reaserching any of it. (im at work atm)

If anyone has the facts id love to know for sure what the story is..

  13. ^^ agreed.. after all, what makes it not a 'real' skyline? it doesn't have an RB, but neither did the pre R series skylines. No turbo.. but a stock 350GT produces more power/torque than any stock non GT-R R series (although the R34 25GTT comes close depending on who's specs you read). Sure, we can't import the AWD version, but they do exist..

All I can think is the styling makes them less agressive looking.. but the early prince skylines weren't exactly 'agressive' looking, and no-one dares question their authenticity..

Might be cause the share the same platform as the 350z and 370z.. In my opinion they should have just called the v35 and v36 "350gt" and "370gt" full stop. No skyline required.

Its like they were trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. They created this new infiniti model for the American market but then slap a skyline badge on it to keep the skyline mob happy due to the 10 year gap between the r34 and the r35.. Now they have created this "us and them" scenario..

  14. Never can understand the Holdens with the Chev badges.. like anyone would want people to think they have an american car...??

I would like to rebadge mine to Infiniti purely because i feel the v series skylines dont get recognised as a "real skyline" in the australian nissan community anyway. So might as well except the difference and call it something else.. Infiniti will do.

As for holdens.. maybe if Barina drivers want to be REALLY cool, they could rebadge to Daewoo??! aaaahahhahahhahaaa... :woot:

  15. dont laugh.... mine were painted with cans! lots of prep work and elbow grease, many coats including clear, looked brand new. then i ended up selling them for $300 (idiot)

new owner had them powder coated in a deep grey, apart from the colour change i couldnt pick a visual difference in finish... but i know the coating is now stronger

Cans i think would be ok for a short term solution. Finish wise it could be good. The problem will come when you go to get new tyres. When they stretch the tyre around the wheel it will most likely strip the paint of the edge. 2 pak is baked on so its much harder then acrylic (spray can).

Will definately be going with either 2 pak or powder coating.. Although i know nothing about powder coating.. Are stock wheels powder coated or painted??

(I asked him to paint them whatever dark colour cause they were gold previously.. awful. I picked them up and he told me he used leftover paint he had from doing some lambo wheels haha)

    M5 wheels:

Great pricing too. Will be using him again whenever I need wheels painting for sure.

edit: Pics really don't do his work justice.

Thanks for that, ill give him a call. Does he powder coat or paint? (or either)

sounds like powder coating is the way to go.

  17. Nice, looks way better in silver. I dont think black wheels really suit silver cars.

Did you paint or powder coat them?

I have painted a few sets of wheels before. They came up ok but it really comes down to how much work you put in.

My cars pretty new so i want a professional finish. In saying that im pretty time poor so ill probably get someone to do it for me.

I spoke to Alliance rim repairs today in Malaga (perth). They quoted me between $170 and $220 per corner. They use 2 pac paint and the guy was telling me powder coating gives a more orange peely finish. Does anyone here know the benefits of paint over powder coat?? Is one more stronger/harder wearing then the other?
