Thanks, that certainly gives me a good place to start - will have to try and track down a wiring diagram for the gearbox side of things. I haven't actually managed to get the ECU diagnostics working yet so that should probably be my first test.

Howdy,

I'm having a problem where my stagea is holding on to gears a lot longer than it should, particularly from 2nd gear to 3rd it won't shift up until at least 5500rpm which means I'm basically driving around in 2nd gear a lot of the time.

I'm at the point where I'm running out of ideas, rego is due and I really need some help...

A bit of background

Just before christmas I was pottering along and suddenly snapped a con rod. Found a cheap replacement engine locally and swapped it out with a mate. It's got a piggyback adaptronic ecu in there so I had it retuned and since I got it back from the workshop I've been having the gear changing issues - they say it's nothing they did so I'm on my own.

The gearbox diagnostics is saying there's a TPS fault. I've had it looked at by an auto transmission place and their conclusion was "it's an electrical problem". I have swapped out the TPS with the one from my original engine without any change and have tried taking it to local auto elecs who have been reluctant to even look at it.

My guess is that one of the wires related to the TPS has been damaged somewhere along the line but I'm just not sure how/where to start with diagnosing that. Although the adaptronic ecu still seems to be getting TPS signal correctly so it is likely somewhere between TPS and standard ECU or standard ECU and gearbox???

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Howdy,

It's been quite some time since I've been on here but I've got a favor to ask of.... well anyone that's interested really.

I'm getting hitched on the 20th of May (a Friday) but still need to organise at least 1 car for the wedding. So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing chauffeur for the day (or at least part of it)? I am of course willing to provide 'compensation' and a meal at the reception if required.

The catch is the wedding will be held on the Central Coast...

Did you manage to tap into the existing central locking system? That was the main issue we had and so did the installer, they ended up sticking an extra motor in the drivers door to run it (and tried to tell me there wasn't one in there already).

That is a pretty common thing that needs to be done when installing an alarm in skylines/stageas and various other cars for that matter.

Ska, Yes 1 bar was on the stock turbo and believe me based on previous experience the stock turbo will run 1 bar perfectly OK without causing problems for quite some time especially considering I don't drive around on full boost all the time. I did it for several years with my R33 with no issues... and if something does happen to go wrong... oh dear I will *have* to upgrade.

Just thought I'd share with everyone what I got up to this weekend... actually it only took a couple of hours but it's the most exciting part of my weekend so anyways.

Installed my new Blitz Dual SBC Spec R boost controller into the Stagea and wound up the boost a bit for the first time. The install is very straight forward and given that I used to have the same boost controller in my R33 tuning it was relatively simple too. Just took at few test runs to get it exactly right...

Anywho, I wound it up to approx. 1 bar to see how she went and the top end result is really quite good. I don't think the gearbox is liking shifting with that much boost so I'm probably going to run a bit less until my shift kit arrives from MV. Overall I'm pretty please with the result.

Talej - You should be able to swap the plug, wiring and light bulb socket from your standard ones to the clear ones.

yep - I managed to get it all sorted out. swapped the plugs and bulbs and I had to do a little bit of filing on the clips because they were too wide for some reason. All in and looking great now.

Got my package today... thanks! Slight problem that I'm not quite sure what I should do though... my car has square plugs and the clear indicators have round holes?????

Are the plugs on my car not standard for some reason? Where can I get some round ones from?

Im looking at buying (not gfor me) a set of four p1s. Mint condition, 16x7 and 8s. (staggered). with 225s and 245s. White.
I know this isnt a stagea topic, but i know you guys, and im sure a couple of stages on here are sporting p1s. Whats a set like this worth?
