  1. Hi bro. The reps leak better off getting the real deal.. if you go onto golebys site you can get any spring rate you want.. i just changed my 2 bolt wastegate to the 45mm vband style and to what spring rating you need have a chat to ya tuner.. Cheers

Yeh def getting the real deal haha

How much boost and rpm do you plan on running?

If it's 18-22 psi and 7000rpm don't do anything to the head just get at gt3076r or similar sized turbo with external gate. If you plan on running around 25 plus Padi and around 8000rpm to keep it reliable will cost quite a bit more than just head studs and valve springs

Plan on getting the ATR45 external gate which is equivalent to the 3076 :)

  2. are you racing your car?

    are you tracking it?

if it's just a streeter with some drag racing just drop in studs and torque them up well and spend the remainder of your cash on hookers, cocaine and molly LOL...jk.. buy a decent radiator, oil cooler and a 1.5/2 way LSD to put the power down.

Will mainly be a weekender, occassional drag and it might see the track once every 2-3 years

Love your other ideas though haha!

But I do plan on getting an ASI rad and China spec cooler as mentioned in my other thread :)

  3. FYI.. Matt Wooten makes probably same power as myself and regularly tracks his car too.. he doesn't even have head studs and the motor is still performing (Neo motor).

No need to pop the head and do a headgasket if you're not shooting north of 400kW in my opinion.. and if you get close to that, time to build the rest of the bottom end.

I was thinking of actually asking him a few questions too about his build!

Just wanted mine to be safer if I accrued the extra cash and if I had the patience

  4. ARP studs

    Stock headgasket

    Stock cams

    Your favourite flavour of turbo

    Genuine turbosmart gate

Plenty of power, safety and fun times guarenteed.

    /thread

Heard if I change the headstuds then I gotta/may as well change the gasket too

Willing to chip out the few hundred for a cometic one for that added safety :)

Remember, 400's the goal now too! haha

  5. I'd say it had an engine rebuild, and the engines done 12k kms.

You won't see an engine with stock internals producing that power, not for long anyway.

    This

"honey why have you not sold that damn car yet"

"I told you, it's up for sale, i'm waiting for a buyer!"

    Hahaha

This cars been for sales for years, it's just been relisted multiple times

Seller hasn't put the price down much since last time I saw the ad haha

  6. 50mm, the 38m too small.. your exhaust manifold pressure will be too high...

I know barely anything about wastegates, but after searching for a 50mm one I noticed they come in 7psi and 14psi:

    http://gcg.com.au/turbo-parts/external-wastegates/turbosmart-external-wastegates/turbosmart-pro-gate-50mm-7psi-14psi-detail

Which would best suit my application?

    Also just came across this:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50mm-V-Band-Wastegate-Pro-Gate-ProGate-Blue-12-Month-Warranty/152098198351?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140117125611%26meid%3Dc481daac48094e95b3a6a29088c02b86%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D152098204562

Now obviously I'm trying to save where ever possible, so is there much difference in buying a Turbosmart rep one over a gen one? (besides saving $400)

    Thanks

    372kW @ 1.75bar, 1.5bar by 4100rpm

    Self Tuned

Hahaha the classic uncle eddy's special

    That's one strong engine though!

Now this has given me a bit of hope for mine

    Very nice results too

  8. Thats about the same i got. Dont get the intake gasket kit as for an xtra $20 get both intake gaskets in cometic. I reakon if you rang golebys they would probably do you a good deal. I got my head gasket and head studs for 550 then with springs and stuff good chance they will help ya. I was gunna buy new buckets and shims but can't find at all...

Can't find the cometic one, may not even bother doing it if I don't have to?

Yeh I may speak to them as I'm also getting the Plazmaman injectors, rails and reg kit from them

  9. Yeah bro, if your taking the head off best off replacing head gasket with a cometic (steel) gasket. Better for boost. I was at around 290kw on 98 pump fuel beforehand. Im hoping for around 380-400 rwkw on e85. Also i just exchanged my wastegate from the 2 bolt 38mm ultragate to the 45mm vband hypergate for a better flow and a cleaner look. Will keep post informed and will put pics up to. Doing most work myself.

    Yeh that's true

So far I've found the following, hoping these are the best prices:

Same power figures I'm aiming for

Least you're saving a bit on labour!

  10. 50mm, the 38m too small.. your exhaust manifold pressure will be too high...

you'll need head studs if you want to get that turbo + motor to boogie

    Interesting

Hi bro, by the sounds of it im on same track as you. Ive got a massive amount of parts to put on over next few weeks then off to get a tune and will see from there anyway the parts i have to put on so far are: type b poncams, lowmount external gate manifold, atr45sat turbo with vband rear housing, turbosmart 38mm gate, turbosmart 1200fpr, 1000cc xspurt injectors, plasmaman plenum, t/b & bov, zeitronix e85 flex set up, haltech platinum pro pnp ecu, apexi avcr boost controller, apexi rsm, oil cooler and filter relocation, walbro intank big e85 pump, surge tank with big pro flow e85 pump, arp head studs, performance springs & titanium retainers, 1.3mm cometic head gasket and other cometic gaskets. And ive already got stuff like r34 gtr brembo brakes all round, big koyorad alloy radiator, extreme heavy sports clutch and lots of other gtr stuff. Will keep you informed how all turns out.. Cheers

That sounds awesome and very similar to my plans

    Aiming for any specific figure?

Now I may also think about doing studs, springs, retainers and head gasket if I can save enough!

  11. Hey guys,

Just wondering if branded alloy radiators really matter, if not do you believe the follow radiator is still recommended:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GPI-52MM-Aluminum-Radiator-for-Nissan-Skyline-R33-R34-GTR-GTST-RB25DET-Manual-/281264946769?hash=item417cb27e51:g:4FcAAOxyzi9SmX2D

I'm also keen on adding an oil cooler and relocation kit, however don't know much about them

All I've been told is that an ebay one is better then nothing

I'm guessing something like the following is good enough?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/16-ROW-UNIVERSAL-ENGINE-OIL-COOLER-FILTER-RELOCATION-5M-AN10-OIL-LINE-KIT-/331251757484

Please feel free to link me any others you suggest without breaking the bank

    Cheers

  12. You will barely notice any lumpy idle with poncams

    True

If you want ponnies. Its type b or nothing...type a would be a waste of money

not big enough over standard. Dont expect a huge power gain.

Lucky to do 10rwkw more up top.

Id put headstuds on the list before all that anyway. Otherwise your on

    Borrowed time

260 ponnies lump nice if you want them tuned that way..can get a nice

rump/rump/rump outta them..if thats what you want..

    cheers

    darren

Planning on going type b anyway :)

Haven't heard/researched anything about needing to upgrade the headstuds though (not saying it wouldn't be important to)

Hopefully e85, atr45 roller bearing, type b Tomei poncams (might do rocker gaskets and timing belt while everythings off) and a solid tune gets me close to 400rwkw haha

Trying to decide on a wastegate as I know close to nothing about them..

  13. For my 10c I believe there is type A and B Poncams for the Neo Turbo 25 and I would go for the type As or OE cams .

From memory the type As are about 252 duration and the type Bs 260 .

Where the Neo has it over the R33 25DET engine is a bit more lift and more aggressive lift ramps on the cams . This obviously didn't work with the R33s hydraulic buckets hence the solid ones and shim adjustment .

I believe Nissan was looking to pull the torque peak down the rev range on the GTt hence better valve train and different inlet manifold volume .

I think the longer period B cams would cost you low down part throttle torque and be less suited to the NEOs manifold .

One here with a Neo type Stag went B cams and regretted the decision later .

You call , mine would be standard or at most the shorter Poncams .

    A .

    Correct

However I do want the 260 duration

Dont these neo guys rev out higher than r33's, ive seen them go well over 7k which type b's would be in the zone. I got some for the 2530neo so hopefully they'll aid the flow

    Mine does

Standard cams/springs/retainers good for over 400kw. Nissan did good, leave it standard.

    This is what I'm thinking

    What's wrong with stock cams?

Recently a R34 done by Chequered Tuning spun over 400kW using a Hypergear ATR45SAT turbo.

    Nothing's wrong

    Oo was that unopened head?

Cams have just been a goal for myself, really just after the lump/response shockingly haha

Main question is whether I'd need to also upgrade the springs/retainers/(headgasket) if I did cams and went for 400rwkw :P

    Appreciate all the input though!

  14. Wont be upgrading injectors im happy with it for now... i have other plans for the car atm. Why not go a gtx35r and faceroll 400kw?

    Fair call

Correct me if I'm wrong cause I haven't looked much into it, but an ATR45 is cheaper and I'm staying low mount

ATR45 has also been proven to exceed 400rwkw, however that's with upgraded springs and pistons

I'll be consulting with Tao on whether I'd be able to get away without upgrading those to achieve close to, if not, 400 on e85 :)

  15. Spend your money on turbo, wastegate, fmic, exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, AFM if necessary, (I presume you already have an aftermarket ecu or a Nistune chip) - these are the priorities - you can save up for cams later if you really want.

Already got a complete Plazmaman set up including plenum, throttle and intercooler running a Haltech ps2000. Gotta upgrade the injectors and pump for 85 which I've already included in my budget :)

  16. i have tomei type b cams in mine, as well as an older SS2 ex gate currently making 324kw on 16 psi and e70. with bigger injectors (maxed 725cc atm) and more boost mine would see 350kw+ easy on e85 :) just an indication of what you could do

    That's awesome

    Planning on upgrading the injectors?

If I can get away with it, I might go with an ATR45 with cams on flex/85 and aim close to 400rwkw
