  1. Hi fellas I id'd the turbo on my rb25 and it is a garrett ar60 m24 1-1. I believe it's from a s14 or s15 and it is apparently hi flowed. What is the max boost I should run and if it is any good for making half decent power I am putting on an aftermarket plenum on z32 afm bigger injectors new Bosch 044 fuel pump and nistune ecu. Just wanting to know what sort of power it would make at what boost? Would a gt30 make much more power?
  2. Hi I am doing a few upgrades to my rb25 and the turbo is one off them. Has anybody got any suggestions for a turbo with reasonable response that will still make around 230 - 260 rwk
  3. There is a little bit of black smoke when the engine is under load. It was going a lot better than it is now only a month ago
  4. Well I sorted the fuel out had a blockage in the old fuel filter god knows how old it was and it doesn't sound like a wrx anymore with the new MAF so I'm pretty happy. Next thing is the car makes power and pulls up until around 4k then it's just like dead revs and has no power. It idles fine and revs fine in neutral any ideas?
  5. Well I checked the ecu and there were no LEDs on it but it had 2 loose wires coming from it with tape on them saying check engine light on one and diagnose on the other. When I put the ignition on the fuel pump kicks in but there is no pressure on the fuel pressure regulator showing and I took a spark plug out and looked on top of the piston and it was dry not a sceric of fuel to be seen. Is it normal for there to be no pressure on the regulator until it starts up or should it b there as soon as the fuel pump primes? And yes there is spark on all cylinders I checked that last nite.

I put a new air flow meter in and it did not fix the problem car still will not start It's a series 2 engine and there are no lights on the ecu and I can't run the fault codes through the dash because it in a vl and there is no light hooked up. I'm thinking it may be the CAS is there any way to check it is working?
  7. The engine supposedly has 120k on it. The engine was tested cold because it won't run at the moment I'm putting in a new air flow meter tommoro and hopefully it fixes the problem as it progressively got worse until it wouldn't start. I'm not sure about compression tester i just bought it and it and no I didn't try putting any oil in, I took each plug out individually and tested the plug back in and moved to the next. The battery is brand new so it should be fine.
  8. Hey my I just tested my rb25det compression and got 1) 135 psi 2) 140psi 3)140psi 4) 140 psi 5) 140 psi 6) 135 psi Just want to know if these figures are any good or am I up for a rebuild soon ?
  9. I live on the nsw north coast just abit to far away lol cheers anyway I have a mate who I can borrow some coils off but he just went back to work at the mines and he won't b back for a month which sucks I don't wanna wait so ill prob just buy one and see if I can fix it that way

Well it turned out to be a boost leak in the boost gauge line I don't know how the gauge read vaccum it was a massive crack, I went to the local truck supplies shop and bought some new 8th inch plastic hose for 2 bucks and found another small leak now there both fixed the car boosts properly only now I have another problem now at about 5000rpm in first the engine breaks down and splutters and looses power also if I'm cruising along in 5th then ease power on it begins to splutter. The car has splitfire coil packs there probably old so I'm thinking one might be stuffed I have replaced the plugs and it made no difference so I'm hoping it will just be one coil pack, buy a new one and then work out which one is failing well I'm hoping it will be that easy anyway
  11. Yeah I took it off just befor it's spins freely and smoothly and it has a little bit maybe 2 mm shaft play side to side there was also a bit of oil in the housing in front of the inlet fins

Hi guys I have a t28 high flowed turbo from an s15 on my rb25 I only just bought the car about a month ago it was going fine holding boost at 15 psi until the other day when I booted it in 2nd gear and there was a Big Bang and I blew off a cooler pipe so I put it down to that limped the car home and fixed up the cooler pipe then wen I took it out next the turbo won't make any boost runs fine in vaccume but then wen u boot it the gauge holds at 0psi I first thought I might have a boost leak but now I'm thinking its probably the turbo can anyone confirm this? If so what is a good turbo to put on I have a standard ecu 3 inch exhaust and fmic I'm looking for about the same power maybe a little bit more

Hi I am pretty sure I have a bad boost leak I blew an intercooler pipe off hitting 15 psi in second gear I then put the hose clamp back on the rubber fitting and tightened nice and firm and ever since then it has only made about 1 psi of boost, u can't really hear the boost leak in the car but when idling with the bonnet open you can hear it sucking while the engine is under vaccume it sounds like its coming from the inlet manifold around the far right hand side would I be right in thinking that it could be the inlet manifold gasket it seems to have a thicker gasket than usual its about 3 mm thick or is that normal ?   14. It has a factory ecu it also will start if I give it some throttle while cranking so I'm thinking ecu might b stuffed

Hi my rb25det cranks for about 12 seconds befor it starts when it is cold but the after starting it once when cold let it run for 5 seconds turn it off then start again it fires up strait away and fine the rest of the day. I have changed the plugs and plan on doing the leads. Another thing the afm is in the cold side of the intercooler pipe could this be affecting it? It's how it come when I bought it.
  16. Hi guys I'm new here this is my first post. I have a vl commodore with a rb25det with a high flowed t28 turbo running 15 psi, 3 inch exhaust hi flow cat, apart from that everything else is stock on the engine I'm just wondering if anyone knows roughly how much power it would be making Cheers
