  1. What i hate is at night switching in the order of - OFF - AUTO - PARKER - FULL BEAM.

If it's night time, why do you insist that you have to go past 'Auto'?? I think it works perfectly, all my imports have had 'Auto' mode going right back to my HR31 Coupe and Passage GT.

  2. To eliminate other problems and confirm its a 4WD system issue, do the 2WD trick. It's on here somewhere, from memory unplug the atessa bleed connector, start car, pump brake pedal 5 times. 4WD light on the dash should constantly flash... There's no need to remove driveshafts etc. If the problem is still there, its not the 4WD system.

  3. Does it feel like the whole car is jerking slightly? Do you often hear the Attessa relay click in the engine bay? (located driver side strut tower).

Because thats what mine was doing. Turns out it was the 4WD system playing up. The 'accumulator' was buggered, it is a high pressurised cannister that holds Attessa pressure up to the system. There's a few threads about it on SAU, common to GTR's and GTS-4s also.

    Just an idea...

    Cheers

    Paul.

  4. Had a good look under the car today, everything looks good and intact as far and the wiring harness goes...

It almost makes me think the car does not realise it is out of Park when it is in actual fact in Drive... Although the dash display of the transmission selector works.. I give up for now

  5. Just checked the ATTESSA controller located in the LHS cargo area behind the trim, no error flashes on the LED... Anyone got pinouts for this controller? Only ones I can find are for what looks like earlier model skyline ATTESSA controllers that have 4 plugs, this one of mine has 1 big plug and a 10mm nut in the middle.

  6. G'day. I have searched on this one and couldn't see anyone with anything remotely the same as my problem. There is a gremlin in my car, I will explain...

The car goes straight into 4th gear even when dead cold (the last stagea I drove stayed in 3rd for a few minutes, once warmed up then went into 4th - i assume this is the norm)

The O/D off button does nothing - stays in 4th all the time. The light comes up on the dash however.

Snow and Power buttons have no effect what so ever. The lights show they work.

The car drives beautiful and shifts as per normal, kicks back when given throttle, etc... But I'm definitely lacking the 'power' function, I believe this function should work if you give the car a hiding even with the power button not pushed in? O/D off would be most handy for going up hills, the car chops and changes gears like a bastard...

So I have checked all wiring, plugs and switch functions inside the car and under bonnet. Have traced all relevant wiring back, no damage or bad connections I can see. I haven't had a chance for a real good look underneath yet. I worked as an auto sparky for many years, I remember fixing a similar issue on an R31, it was a faulty speedo divider circuit in the back of the instrument cluster, I was able to diagnose it easily from wiring schematics...

Does anyone have any electrical schematics so I can work out how all this is supposed to work? Any other ideas?

    Cheers

    Paul.

    Other Comments:

    Good points:

Has been the most reliable car I've had as a daily driver for the past 2 years. Everything works, windows, cruise control, smooth as auto, etc... Always serviced every 5,000kms with oil filter, has most recently just got new iridium plugs, air filter, auto trans filter, gasket and fluids, exhaust manifold and front pipe gaskets, near new battery...

    Bad points:

Paint faded on bonnet, roof, and bootlid (looks good in the photos because it was just washed)

LH front guard has some very minor damage, along with the LH front corner of the front bar, if you were extremely fussy you might do something about it...

Overall some minor car park knocks here and there, as you may expect.

Front passenger side seat, the upholstry is ripped at the back of the seat (only in the seam, can be re-sewn easily)

Driver door lock does not work (never use it anyway with keyless entry)
