  1. You can always go around to your local tuner and ask them and then go see another 2 or 3 :D If you in brisbane speak to Allstar Tuning at Virginia 3265 7185 or Predator Motorsport at Morningside 3902 7711. Both of the owns race cars and well the one at Predator is regularly on Briz31 with his circuit R33.. They are honest and pretty straight forward.

  2. Then you can walk around with your nose smelling the air, chest and elbows out thinking to your self...

'I pulled my turbo off and replaced the exhaust studs'

Seriously, it is fairly easy. IF you have a few ring spanners, normal spanners. You will need a couple of the bug suckers. I think the water feed/return is size 17? or is it 22? I can't remember. lol :D

Even easier if you download the Service manual, I am sure you can find it on here somewhere. My only concern is tapping the bolts. :D I guess thats what mates are for as well!

  3. Excellent Proengines, appreciate the insight.

What form of $$$$ are we looking at.

I have a spare RB25 Block that I want to rebuild and one RB engine builder quoted me $9500 for the rebuild and parts, some of the engine bits will be reused with new pistons being the main go and he mentioned something about "plasterguide" so they can measure down to the micromillimeter the gaps etc.

  4. Erin

Well I looked at both and I am running Nismo 740cc injectors (actually looking to downsize to 650cc) with a Haltech ecu, 600hp in tank fuel pump. I found the cheaper one was no good. I went with the better option and well as the adage goes " you get what you pay for" I have no fuel issues any more :D Plenty of fuel when I want, running from 0.8bar to 1.5bar.

Are you upgrading the in tank pump as well?

    Cheers

    Dan

  5. Nissan  :D

Dont see why you would need better than the standard ones. They are fine

Even if your running higher boost then standard and the engine is producing more torque and hp then standard?

Thats my only concern as you see better quality head gasket's only never the rest.

  6. Hey all

anyone know where I can get a gasket kit for a RB25DET is not just standard. I mean if I have to go standard then fine.

I am really requiring the rocker cover gaskets but hey I guess a full kit would come in handy.

I am in Brisbane so a local shop would be awesome.

    Thanks

  7. I had my RB25DET turbo high flowed and it still spooled up at the same time and was able it push upto 20psi no probs. However I've be told time and time again there is no need to go above 18psi so for now I sit on 14psi and achieve 207rwkw... I did upgrade the injectors to 740cc Nismo's with 700hp pump and reg.. just for the growth to 300rwkw one day me hopes.. currently rebuilding a RB25DET to do the job.

GCG highflowed mine for about $1250inc

  8. Yeah well they are all good suggestions and if I have a good amount to spend, then I would most likely go all out. However me thinks sticking to rebuilding the RB25 with forged pistons, rods and bolts along with a new engine & head gasket and regrounding the crankshaft to harden it and add new cam gears and valve springs and poncams. This way I am pretty much assured the engine will handle 400+kw and take me into the low 12's with the rest of my setup.

  9. My goal would be to get approx 250-260rwkw from the car. Currently I am at 215rwkw and with the current turbo (just high flowed recently) and the new injectors, pump, stand alone ecu etc I think the RB25 will do the job if rebuilt properly. I think I would be able to get to 300rwkw with the RB25 as well by strengthing the internals with Aria pistons and some Tomei gear?

I do think with 250-260rwkw I will be very happy with as I am still looking at keeping it a streetable car.

  10. RB26 is a very expensive option (have one in my GTST) unless you can fit it all yourself - save your bucks & rebuild what you have.

Yes I know it can be exspensive, but what are the power output options like, I gather you will not gain a substainal difference from just rebuilding the engine? That the RB26 would give a better platform from which to grow into a beast :)

  11. Well I have finally found the problem to my recent thread on backfires and smoke.. my last cylinder is KAPUT...so now i enter the fork in the road as to rebuild and strengthen my current RB25DET or upgrade/crossgrade to a RB26DETT with either using the current single highflowed turbo I have or using original RB26 Turbos? If I went RB26 way then I would not going AWD but still leave it in RWD.

What thoughts or suggestions do any of you that have done this or known of someone whom has got?

    Thanks

  12. I read in a previous thread somewhere, it may have to do with your crank angle sensor but I read it while ago and I might be completely wrong, but another avenue that you can explore/check.

Well that could be a option, I will have to check and see.. I thought it might be the valve springs myself at one stage but who knows.. its a tricky subject for me.

  13. Have fun, my first time I loved it.. I also tried launching on different RPM's as each car's setup is different you might find that you could drop on each run on the last yellow but use different RPM lauches to find the right amount of traction to wheelspin that gets your turbo and ass moving :(

    good luck.. :)

  14. Well we've tried that and still its happening, so we are going to use a 3bar Map sensor for the Haltech and see if that helps as the haltech 3 bar map sensor is actually meant to be used when going over 15psi.

I am still at a loss as what it could be.. I am going to downsize the injectors to help with the idle to 550cc Sards.

Will sell the 740cc's ones.. as I have only had them in the car for 1 month and well they are just to big for my applications at the moment..

  15. tried shortening the plug gaps ? 4-5k RPM is about where they usually blow out unless gapped down.

I'll give that a go. I am heading down to see my baby today so I should have a looksie at these and work it out.. could it be anything else? As it does idle a little rough and doesnt normally start first up in the morn and needs some tlc to get going

  16. I have an issue with my R33 S1, I am running a Highflowed turbo with FMIC and standalone Haltech ECU, I have done some other minor mods like custom cold air and 740cc NISMO injectors yet I keep finding that on the dyno at 14psi I am backfiring around the 4000-5000rpm range? now this happening in any gear and well the system is showing that the engine is getting enough fuel and air. Does anyone know what else it could be? could the valve springs be a bit soft?

I want to run up to 18psi yet I am unable to with the current predicament?

    HELP!

    Aridyne :)

  17. aridyne: how much power should  u put out with that high flow? and how much would that be costing you?

    cheers...ben.

Well as it is in Sydney right now getting done I won't know until I get the car back, so I am looking at Friday/Sat Morning to find out.. I definately want the car back by Saturday noon as I am cruising down the coast for a bit of schoolies week site seeing :D and maybe a bit of freeway action .. :)

Will let u know what the cost and rwkw soon

  18. the xr6 turbo is pretty big its like a gt30 or 35 or somethin, highly doubtful it bolts straight on to a stock manifold...

sydneykid: so out of the GCG high flow and a HKS 2835s, would u still pick the high flow? im deciding which one to go for, but a few $$ extra (from nengun 2835 is 2500 delivered) would it be worth it?

    ben...

I decided against the HKS as I wasn't going to pay more money for something I could achieve with a high flow of the standard turbo. Don't get me wrong the HKS GT2835 would be great and I bet would be maybe 5-10% (better then high flowing your standard R33 Turbo but for the money why bother, you could save yourself plenty by going the high flow way and at least you can put that into a better dump or manifold :)

just cos you save money on something does mean you can't spend it on something else the car may need :D

I am currently highflowing my stock turbo to a GT30 standard.. not sure what style like GT3030 or GT3040 but enough to give about 600 odd horsies :)

  19. I had mine installed where the original intercooler was, I installed a repco pod filter heatshield for use as a dirt shield, worked really well, yet still got a crap load of dirt, so I am going to box up the pod inside my engine bay and then run a cold air intake from the hole I made for the piping to the front bar and run like that.

Way better, police hate pod's so if you can hide it in a box they can't do crap and well I got sick of cleaning my pod every 2 weeks due to dirt even with a decent amount of protection...

  20. R33GTST S1

    Stock Turbo @ 12psi

    Stock Internals

    Front mount

    Haltech ECU

3.75" Cat Back Exhaust, 3" In front of cat

    190rwkw with decent clutch slippage

    13.2sec Willowbank Raceway, No tread!

Upgrades In process right now, can post new dyno by Sunday Night if I have time to get out of the car :P

High flow stock turbo to GT3035 Standard, Install Nismo 740cc Injectors, New Clutch, Upgrading tyres to Falken GRB451's, block off POD filter with carbon box, upgrade dump. Real time map on dyno for a few hours to get power curve constant and kicking arse..

Just on another note, I changed my front back just before getting 190rwkw, a week earlier I had the stock series 1 front bar on, I achieve 178rwkw, by changing my bar to a new more flowing bar for the intercooler and pod I gained and extra 12rwkw.. no crap.. same temp same fuel same dyno machine. I found that very interesting.
