  1. Seems like you need to spend quite a bit on engine mods to really get any sort of power out of the VQ35DE so I don't think I will really bother. So I'm thinking I might invest in some mods to enhance it's drivability.

I have a 2004 auto coupe non brembo with lowest spec stock 17's. I have a set of EBC redstuff pads and DBA slotted rotors coming shortly and will probably install a set of braided hoses while I'm at it. From what I have heard the Brembo stuff isn't all that much better, they just look cool.

    Other mods I'm considering

    -Sway bars (whiteline? adjustable?)

    -Under car bracing.

    -Wider and taller wheels/tires:

I keep reading that going 19" with 245 all round is pretty good. That way I can easily do a tire rotation. I'll probably go something aftermarket as I will have more options with sizing. The wheels I have on right now are horrible and sit in way too far. Ruins the whole look of the car.

    -Replacing all the suspension bushings.

-Coilovers (due to the retarded incline leading into my garage, I don't think I can lower)

    Considering but probably not likely

    -LSD

-Front and rear strut tower bars:

Might look nice but from what others are saying the under body bracing is far more beneficial.

  2. Well, looks like I probably got stung by this lot.

2004 350GT, 62,852km on the clock. I've sent away for the odo check to see what it really is. The nav history I recently found when I got the nav DVD suggests that this car was used regularly on long commutes.

Date of sale was 06/01/2014, and according to this http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?SearchText=20+167+038+002 DBN holdings took over Sports Auto group on 17/12/2013.

So according to what I just watched, I should be eligible for a refund under their new policy.

Assuming my ODO reading is way off that is. These tampered with ones all seem to be around the 50-60k mark.

And I agree with the comments, this was partially my f**kup. I should have had this checked before I got the car. But if they claim that they will offer compensation, I am going to hammer them for it.

  3. Hi all

So had to replace my battery so I went and got a new one specifiying that it is for a VQ35DE or 350z. The battery is a lot bigger, it still fits in place properly but the terminals are too small and the clamp isn't wide enough. I did some research and it appears that it's mainly the JDM models that have the small batteries and the local 350z and other Nissans used bigger ones.

I'm looking at http://www.thenismoshop.com/Nissan-Factory-OEM-Positive-Battery-Terminal-1999-2012--24340-7F000-_p_1026.html for the positive terminal. Should be able to just replace this one.

Cant seem to find what I need for the negative, might have to go with something aftermarket.

I'll probably get a aftermarket battery hold down clamp too.

    Anyone else done this?

  4. Brought a set of 350Z wheels yesterday, threw them on last night and its now currently getting a balance/alignment =)

Very happy with the overall look of the car for now. Would still like to drop it an inch or so but i'm not in any hurry.

Was wondering what they would look like on a V35, now I know that they look bloody fantastic!

  5. So finally got the DVD burnt and booted it up. I can confirm now that the all the voice files are on the DVD.

I have been able to get the voice to happen three different ways. Firstly you can spam and error by pressing the ガイド button (translates to guide, appears as voice on english buttons). It says it a little fast for me to catch it but she is asking a question from what i can hear with a kudasai (please) at the end, It's fun to spam this button. the second way is to go into the ETC card settings and try to set up the card. I'm pretty sure she says "ETCカードを挿入してください/ ETC kaado o soonyuu shite kudasai" which translates to "Please insert ETC card". The third way happens completely at random. Because the map is japan only obviously you will not line up with the roads and will appear to the floating around. Every now and then it will attach you to a road and she will attempt to give you directions if you have a destination set.

Another funny little thing I found is that the map shows buddhist temples in the area. Now if you are not familiar with Japanese culture you will be confused by all the swastikas all over the place. No you are not driving through Nazi Germany.

  6. I have read a few threads in the past about setting up some V-Series meets and cruises but have any of the actually happened? I intended to join one a while back but something came up last minute. Doesn't seem like many V's attend the general cruises either which is a shame.

Many Infiniti communities in the states have cruises with the Z's, maybe that is an option? Have a VQ motor meet?

  7. Tiptronic mode ... even if it says 3rd gear on the dash it doesnt mean its in 3rd gear. It is designed to change back to second and first if youre not moving fast enough for the gear to be used. Its not a true manual selection unfortunately.

My 350GT will do the same if I'm not moving fast enough, but it will always show what gear it is in on the dash even when it downshifts on it's own. Never had it show as being in 3rd when it's actually in 2nd or anything.

  8. Just got my 2004 V35 re-registered and they guys doing the esafety check said I had about 3000kms left on the front rotors. Ultratune quoted around $550 for new rotors and pads. Can anyone recommend someone either in Central Coast or North Sydney/Ryde area?

Apparently the pads that I have have asbestos in them too which is leaving a lot of brake dust on the front. Is there a particular brand of pad that people use here that won't leave dust?

I don't need to replace the rear rotors but it might be worth replacing all the pads at once.
