not going to start a new thread cos i dont want to open world war 3.. so i'm just going to post in here because my experience has also turned into a total horror story. monday - had my two soarers dropped off. was told the white one had a dead battery, tow truck driver wheeled it off truck and left it on the street with window down. turned out someone in the trucking company had crossed the connections trying to charge the battery. this arked the battery and blew the main fuse. i had a dead car sitting in the street with the window down. unregistered. thanks a lot. but here's the big corker. the compliance shop who charged me full price to do the compliance work have done NONE of the following tasks - i re-iterate. NOTHING in this list has been done. oil change oil filter change brake fluid change brake PAD change child restraints were NOT fitted mirror glass was NOT changed out to flat glass catallytic convertors were NOT changed out headlights were NOT changed out rear license plate light bulbs weren't even installed. the worst part is that they provided me with papers saying it's all done.. there are many other "little" things that i'll get to later.. but as SAU binds me from naming and shaming businesses - this is all i can divulge. my dad just tried to get HIS car registered and the federal compliance officers noticed this all. they have digital pictures and everything is documented. the federal compliance guys say they will be liasing with federal transport to have a bit of a chat and take further action against this RAWS. this is not a joke - i cannot beleive THIS has happened to ME. what a week. and - again i'm sorry for "pushing the boundaries" of what's kosher here. but i think it's right that i voice my stories for others to learn from. edit: again: this means all they did was put stickers on the car and charge me full price. they didn't even stamp my VIN on the chassis and remove the old one. they didn't do a bloody thing. this will cause repercussions.

bahahahhaa WHOOOOWOWah. no no... in the first car i imported (cefiro) i had a packet of tissues, a fewpics of the owners wife (?)(he was an old man) and actually yea i got a japanese lolly. i ate it - bad idea.. in the car i got monday - not a damn thing. but then again the soarer is not a funny business car.. it is actually an actual nice car for realsies. =) -
hey guys... this thread is for iView recommendations / 7mate recommendations for PS3 7mate: parks n rereations is pretty funny - aziz ansari is on it so if you like his acting then yeah. iview: this week is a great idea to watch 4corners - bozodos this is mainly for you.. the last two weeks has shown a rather speedily rushed expose' into iraq after saddam.. it's pretty gruesome and really shows you what (well not REALLY really) but shows you a picture of the iraq war that the news doesn't show you.. it's definitely worth watching to see how the USA hoodwinked the world, turned a nation on itself..brought the nation to it's knees and then pulled away at possibly the worst time.. 35,000 iraqi civillian casualties at the hands of the USA. al quaeda and iraqis themselves... it's definitely worth a watch.. also IT crowd

ahhhhhhhh well that makes sense then =) well yeah - steam cleaning may or may not leave you with a clean / rock free car - and it may leave you with a bit less money in your wallet hope your importing experience has been a smooth sailed one (wow... excuse the pun) and welcome to the forums! edit: wait what??? customs guy you're dealing with??? why are YOU dealing with customs? are you self-importing? or going through a broker.. and why is a customs officer quoting you on anything?? see this is what shat me about importing... everyone wants to throw in their two cents about something that didn't concern them - i got told by a (nameless) RAWS mechanic that i would have NO hope in HELL of getting my car registered if it's been complied over east.. and was told that unless i brought the car into him FIRST THING when i get it so that he could work on it - i'd have no hope of getting registration. ..if he has that opinion then fine, but registration is not up to him? so why did he go off his tree at me for choosing not to register in WA? -

^^^what he said.. not that im angry at the steam cleaning guy - i'm happy to pay money to a small business - what im saying is - it failed first inspection because it needed "steamcleaning" then passed the second inspection.. soooooooooooooo if it passed the second inspection with rocks and foreign sand and everything - then it should have passed the first time - clearly this second inspection is just fees from AQIS. (my opinion) and as you said - tax on a tax.. but.. in reality - if i get my car that i'm absolutely happy with and totally in love with with all it's porny goodness and high spec'd features... and get it for a price lower than what i'd otherwise pay for a toyota yaris.. then australia's import system cant really be that bad.. oh, side note - 7grand AUD car cost for a 180sx seems a bit steep for me? i haven't seen the car obviously but a majority of the 180sx's are graded R and don't fetch much EDIT FOR QUICKDRAW MCGRAW!!!! ^^^ the what he said was at mister ironchef.. as for you, mister.. can you please elaborate what you mean by "customs shops"??? that seems a bit suss.. are you sure you know what you're saying when you say "customs shops"? are you sure you're not saying $7K for: shipping from japan RORO taxes + GST aqis + Customs steam clean towing compliance ??? -
noob. my profile views are 11ty times your count. granny editing not double postin like ya should.

checking whether it needs steam cleaning of foreign dirt - let's not lie.. customs / quarrantine etc are basically the government leg of australia's stitched up secretive corrupt lucrative shipping industry.. case in point my soarer was inspected n paid for, them steam cleaned, then re-inspected and re-paid for.. i get the car and there's japanese rocks n sand n god knows what still in the car - no work was done.. it was just fees. sorry to make such a swooping generalisation but yeah - they charge you the fees they want to charge you to do no work what so ever - and because it's government we have no choice BUT to pay it.. so - we pay for these fees then we take our cars and try to screw a RAWS down on the cost of our vehicle compliance.. irony? -
remember my golden era sedan cruise? had 12 cars.. was special as hell - was very much fun to have exclusively sedans there - but still only 12 cars

cheese and rice. well your chances of getting oem A31 suspension is pretty low bra.. i sold mine soz buckets but hey if you want a set of rear coilovers - holla! waitaminute - why do you need this stuff?? you have a pre89 import.. meaning it has to be signed off by engineer and has to comply to ADRs and that's all.. sooooo wind your coilovers up - i don't see what's wrong with that? -

xalmon - V8 limits the age you can get it.. ie you can only get upto mid 97 if V8.. the V8's are nice they're indestructable but electronically i personally wouldn't touch them - EMV system crashes and you're pretty well stuffed, turbo - i'd only buy a vvti - i would never look at a twinturbo (personally) and these days i'm a soarer nerd that said - at any rate the idea of importing a soarer is slim pickings - they're an old car and it's not easy to find one WORTH importing.. if you ARE going to import a soarer, then i would be insistent on vvti GTT Lpackage.. wait - alvin do you NEED a turbo??? cos there IS this guys' car - it's a VVT 2J.. it's the top of the range leather etc but he's asking way too much for it unfortunately link to that car ^^^that car there is actually asking MORE than what i paid for MY car!!! but yeah - two things you need to know about soarers: prices for these things fluctuate like MENTAL. when importing, i bought my parents white 97 vvti turbo Lpack for 200K yen car cost.. but.. there was a black 1999 vvti turbo manual .. that went for 950K car cost.. and - if you're importing.. given that these cars are so common and ..let's face it - OLD... if you're importing - only insist on the very very BEST car -

u srs it's short?? i've only played it twice - okay here's my full review.. (am i reviewing the right damn game here???) it's called medal of honour frontline - has the dude with the beard on it.. basically it's like MW2 exceeeppptttt this is strictly about afganistan, and fighting insurgents and the taliban.. honestly i'm finding it a little bit too easy.. oh and it's a little bit jerky in parts like seems - - sort of "scripted".. unlike MW2 which kinda feels more free to do whatevr you want.. that said.. i'll be honest - i love the game. i dunno why but i do. perhaps it's a cultural thing. which is strange for me considering i'm one of those guys that thinks 9/11 was an inside job.. ...so then - if i think 9/11 was all a bit crock.. then... why is it strangely satisfying to shoot a taliban fighter in the throat? the ONLY thing i think the game COULD do with - is simply more gore.. im a fan of gore if you're going to be killing people then i want you to be able to shoot a guy's arm off or blow his leg off.. like in WAW.. but yeah - i think it's "cool" i don't think it's a good game though - beleive me.. this game is nothing that makes you admire graphics engineering or anything like that. it's only value is "coolness".. there's just something cool about shooting insurgents and fighting through dirty icy mountains with caves n sh1t. 7/10 from me!

few moar pix in case you don't beleive it's condition: sorry to go off topic from supras - i'm just mkaing the point that soarer are definitely the underdog - not all soarers are driven by some 17 year old somalian kid wearing RuffRyder clothing. -

only a late model V8. actually there's this one for sale - UZZ32 active with 106xxx genuine km.. only mods are - brand new headlights and tail lights from toyota... and a 97 body conversion for those of you unfamiliar with soarers, the UZZ32 is the rarest of the build codes, only a run of about 700 odd i beleive. toyota were losing money on each one sold apparently.. active suspesnion, 4 wheel steering, reverse cameras.. these guys had it all!!! -
thinking about 300zx? ...engine out.. comparing R22 gtr to 300zx?? ...that's engine out by default.

^^^ +1 but the conclusion that i've come to notice is - there is a massive soarer revival trend occuring.. but it's quiet and small.. even my broker said yesterday on the phone that when he had the car in his shop, people's jaws would drop and they couldn't beleive that it was a soarer of all things infact yesterday i was out front and this guy in a van stopped outside my house with his family and started telling me how much he absolutely LOVES our soarers and how he's always been into imports ever since we've had "the orange" 180 parked outside ten years ago.. he said he just bought an aristo a few months back from Jspec but said that if he had've known soarers could be like that then he would've got one - true story. but anyway.. conclusion i've come to is - if people like soarers, great.. if they think they are boats and dirty old ho-hum imports then that's their opinion.. i'll just wind up my electric seats tilt my electric sunroof and drive away smiling while they sit there and curse their broken silvia -

well done man... and to all aussie guys questioning why he did this - in thailand, malay and phillipines.. the 1JZ is a very cheap and easy to access engine.. RB is a lot more expensive!
