Plenty of ways to chase response.
- Stroker Kits
- E85
- 4.11 Diff Gears
- 3.7 Final Drive
- Vcam
- Carbon Driveshafts
- Turbo Choice
I've got a 2.8 with Vcam, Carbon driveshaft and -5's. Response is great even on 98 and relatively old turbos. If you can, drive different setups and see what you prefer

Just get a Nismo Coppermix and call it a day.

They can make 500whp but the supporting mods you'd require would be extremely costly. There is a R34 GTR in Melbourne making 390wkw at 21/21psi, but it's 2.8 with Vcam on E85. I'd just go single to make things easy.

Go HKS Vcam

Still love this build thread. Matt, I think it's time for an update on your new Vspecll Nur?

I've got regular -5's too and ran out of turbo at 420wkw on 98. I then looked into these newer GTX variants and they all claim to have a new blade design with 500% more flow blah blah blah. No real world results have been proven though. My opinion is don't waste all that money for new twin turbos, labour and tune. The gains will be miniscule...if any.

Just buy WARGTR. It's for sale and has a Nitto 3.2L making 1400hp with all the bells and whistles.

Didn't HKS build some exhaust Vcam prototypes a while back? T thought the conclusion was that they would be too expensive for the gains.

You didn't purchase the Vcam Step2 by any chance? Then swap it with a Step1 at RacePace?

hahaha i really need to drive a single turbo 2.6 to see what its like. I have a 400kw R32 with -5's and although i know they are laggy i dont find it a pig. I suppose you dont know what you dont know right
I've got -5's with a 2.8 and Vcam. Perfect pairing for a nice street car imo. Responsive on 98 too
I also dont have anxiety every time a HWY Patrol car drive past me in Melbourne

2.8 purely for the sound. Plus no chopping

Series1 Bayside Blue and Midnight Purple cars had black engine bays. Series 2 was body colour.
Other colours were body colour though, my white BNR34 Vspec came with a white engine bay. Although the paint is matt and dull.
Series 1 will have blue build plate, Series 2 will have silver build plate, unless it's a Nur of course.

Type B drop in cams. 260° intake and exhaust with 9.15mm lift. Stock R34 GTR crank which was a new item, Eagle rods and CP Pistons in a N1 block. The motor was built in 2009 too. Was a good setup with the gearing on the 32. A bit laggy in a hairpin but otherwise really good. Plus made decent power on a safe 98 tune so cant complain.

The current Gen 2q's seem to have more grunt to them and would seem to easily surpass the previous setups that have been tried (to varying levels of success. I know that AdamLZ on the youtube's has a set to go onto the R34 which is in the build so will be good to see the outcome there.
They all claim to have 1 million percent more flow and made more power on made up dyno graphs, by whoever is building the turbos, but hardly ever translate into real world gains. I've seen it so many times. Then again a lot of people just care about a higher number on their dyno graph

Just leave the Step 1 as it'll work magic on a stock or built motor, or wait and get the HKS Step2 pistons and Vcam Step2 at the same time. My car has run Step1 Type-A Vcam on a HKS Step2 2.8 with -5's and then I upgraded to Vcam Step2, the gains are minimal, if none at all. I wouldn't be modifying anything when the motor gets built.

these are unreal mate. i currently had a descent crash in my 32 so had to order a bunch of new parts and was looking for some nice carbon mirrors like this...only nice carbon mirrors i could find are on nengun. do they make these for bnr32?
They do. I believe they come in Matt carbon and black carbon. The green has been discontinued since 2009 though. Can find them on the Mines website or Mines Australia / Vspec Performance FB Page
Another option is the Ganador mirrors but they are hydro dipped and not proper carbon.

Any reason you're going 3.5' exhaust and not 4'? I've just gone from a 3.5' to a 4' system on 98RON. This allowed me to run more boost (Ignition timing was close at only 18psi using -5's with the 3.5'). With the 4' exhaust and 4psi of boost added, I gained 40kw at the wheels. I'd definitely be going 4' if you're paying for a custom system anyway.

Yeah, I've seen that and had the occasional chat with Pete about it. Big set up that's built for purpose.
I would be interested to see the latest Gen 2 GTX 2860's set up on a 2.8, I think that would be about as modern as it gets currently.
RacePace did a Gen 1 GTX2860 on a 2.8 with E85. It made 421wkw at 20/21psi which was a pretty decent result.
I ran out of turbo on my -5's at 419wkw with my 2.8 on 98RON.
