my japan import 2008 non nav doesn't have the steering audio controls but looking at the pinouts on stereo unit and infiniti circuit diagrams Im wondering if the harness will still be there and retrofitting factory parts is an option. it has been done on infinitis along with retrofitting the gear paddles but I wondering if the japan specs ones are degraded in any way.

I have a JAP 2008 non nav v36 and see it has the satellite plug on rear of stereo which i figure is the harness to the normal boot satellite location. looking at the infiniti wiring circuits and stereo manual the gross and equivalent audio unit is designed to plug in here and take the place of the satellite unit. Wondering if a japan spec would actually work or is the circuit dead internally. The from people say it must have cat or sat labelled on the front of the unit,mine doesn't but I wonder if the harness is there why wouldn't it work. There is currently no sat option when cycling thru am fm options but I suspect that wouldn't appear until diagnostics detected there was a unit actually live on the end of the harness or would need to activated in diagnostics menu perhaps. has anyone tried or had this working on a import.?
