Hi, This started a little over 3 months back. My first gear would get stuck and will not shift to 2nd no matter how hard I rev (can be as high as 6k!! and still no shift!). Only remedy is to stop the car, turn off everything, restart, then its all ok again. In the beginning it was about twice a week, then progressively got worst until once or twice a day. I took it to the Auto Tranny ppl and they could not help. I did self diagnostics and it came out ok (followed the service manual). Then funny thing, right after I took it to the Auto Tranny guys the second time, of which they did not do anything at all except fiddle with my interior electrical connections trying to find an OBD II port (Now I am sure the S13 do not have one!!). Since then, it was running all good for 2 months, never recurred again. And just 2 weeks ago, it started again...about once every 2-3 days. I am expecting it to get worst... Any ideas what could be wrong or what I can do? Apparently on the 200SX CA18DET AUTO, the ECU controls the transmission as well (???) cos' at the Tranny shop we could not find the TCU (Transmission Control Unit).. Hope you guys can help out. Hi, having some really annoying problems with my S13 auto tranny. Symptoms :- after a stop light and starting move off, sometimes, it refuses to shift into second gear. So I end up revving it up to 5k+ and still to no avail. Sometimes it kicks in after a few revs but normally it does not help. The only thing that seems to help is if I stopped the car, turn off the engine and restart it again. Voila, it drives normally. Is my auto tranny on the way out? I just did a flush and filled it with new oil about a month ago. I suspect that something electronic is acting up since 'restarting' the engine seems to solve it. Appreciate any ideas!
