So far the only "modern" twins setup that I've seen which has generated a result which gets one thinking is the PMC/Integrated Motorsport R34 GT-R which makes >1100hp @ crank on G25 660s. It's laggy as hell, but has a wide (like 6000-10000rpm?) power delivery so there is a bit of a swings and roundabouts thing going on there - you would NOT use that for what most are looking for with twins, not least because it's not stock location but instead some wild fabrication involved. I don't expect there to be any major development with stock location twins as turbo tech isn't really the primary hold up, it's mainly packaging limitations imho... which is a lot of why I'm so pro-single on an RB.
BTW, this thread is hilarious to look back over.Yeah, I've seen that and had the occasional chat with Pete about it. Big set up that's built for purpose.
I would be interested to see the latest Gen 2 GTX 2860's set up on a 2.8, I think that would be about as modern as it gets currently.

Has there been any good modern setups with twins lately??

Replying with comments that insinuate that If someone makes money from a product then there is an assumed underlying deceptive motive, really doesn't help the OP.
Surely you all get paid for work you do or profit from a business you own so is this not the EXACT same thing you are accusing others of??
Just pull your heads in, It's getting old.

it seems that replacing the bearings with a higher quality is a good start. Aurora Bearings ( http://www.aurorabearing.com/index.html ) seem to be a go-to for a heap of race teams and some distributors in the US are starting to offer the arms with the Bearings updated from new.

I would love to buy the MHI turbo that it's based on and not pay a thousand dollars for an HKS logo, unfortunately nobody is really interested in figuring those pesky details out. Doesn't seem like anyone is really interested in small power builds these days.
Flip at JMS in Adelaide loves the new range of HKS twins and he may be worth a quick call to get some feedback on them.

I posted that onto the R32 GTR Australia FB Page and ripped appart. LOL's
All I wanted to do was show that some modern tech used in a "Moderate" twin set up would be a good street car with a stealth appearance. These were run on pretty basic US fuel too so i would expect the setups to perform differently with some Corn Syrup but don't let that distract you from the fact that Hector will be running 3 SPOON engines!
Not everyone is looking be fully hectic as WSID Bro.....

Why not go the in between L19 studs?? more than the 2000 but not as much as the CA625.

yes just got braided lines now.
will find those pads and the discs I got lined up.
Cheers all
Also - how do 245 tyres feel on the 16's are they to big/ballooned?
I've found that the 245 50 R16 Nitto NT01's are just amazing. They are a very stable tyre and offer excellent feel when cornering aggressively, also they fill the guards nicely.

Given the price you can get a pair of Stock Manifolds for ($50 +/-) you could better spend the money or bank the savings. These were designed as an option for people casing some large power figures on the twins location.
If you were keeping twins but going 2.8 or larger then looking to max out some larger turbos then these would be your go to.
Ive personally had my stock Manifolds ported by Specialized Power Porting in readiness for the next set up.

The power you will get from the -7’s is fun and reliable where as if you go to the -5’s you will get more power but the clutch will take more of a beating and the head gasket will have a limited life (if that’s still stock)
perconally would be looking at an ECU with some safety features though as the old Power FC is a bit dated now. Haltech and Link are dependable brands.

Be aware that the Speedtek sets seem to work for the RWD guys but I haven't heard of anyone's successful use of them with AWD.
impersonally looking to go to the PAR gear set once my box meets its impeding destiny.

Once the car is modified its modified, regardless of singles or twins. Andrew made the high figures with high flowed -7's, e85 and cams not just standard -7's.
If you are worried about value then I would rebuild the stock turbos or just add regular -7's and remove the boost restrictor.
modding a GTR is a deep rabbit hole to dive down so decide early if want to "eventually" go big it is way more affordable to go big from the start.
Up-Garage in the states look like they do some great work so maybe connect with them to get some ideas or if you are looking for big numbers then there is about 5,000,000 post on this site and an entire internet with options for that.

If you don't want 4WD just use a 370Z box and an adaptor from Collins.
Definitely keeping the Gtr a 4wd so no chance of this swap. Thanks for the thoughts though.

I was going to post my opinion earlier, but was waiting to see the response from gearset manufacturers first. But I concur with them. The reason you can fit 6 speed dox sets in where 5 speed synchro sets came from is that you need more room between gears for synchros. It's also not trivial to just jam a 6 speed set in because you also have to provide the shift mechanism, and there might not be a good way to do that. That's why proper 6 speed swaps for 5 speed originals usually include a new case.
And just a point ref R34 GTR 6 speed diff ratios. Not 3.9. Something like 3.454. Very tall compared to 4.11s.
Thanks for your comments. I was thinking it would have to do with the available space but as I’ve never pulled one apart I just simply didn’t know.
It seems I will need to stick with the well trodden path of an OSG gearset when the time comes.
Cheers

What do you mean by 'Highflowed -7’s' ???
Billet wheels or?!?
updated to lager billet compressor wheels.

Both replies so far are NO,
"We have considered it in the past but there is minimal available space for a syncro 6-Speed set within the 5-speed box that would allow a gear size to hold 800hp and over."
Ill keep up the search.

I don't see why it couldn't be done; the ppg sequential does it so physical space shouldn't be an issue (unless there's something with synchros vs dog engagement for space?)
Regarding ratios, bear in mind the 34 is made for 3.9 diffs, so you'd want to keep the overdrive .757 and not .79 of the 34. (personally i'd prefer even a little lower, as I have a 2.9 and running E85, however obviously if it was to get done there'd probably have to be only one set standardized on)
However, in reality i suppose something like the OS-88 ratios wouldn't really be ideal for a manually shifted box and something like the 34 ones would be, just use 2nd to launch.
I'd be very interested in one if the price/performance ratios match up, so let me know how you go.
I'm not 100% sure on how to calculate the best gear ratios to suit the number of teeth but i was thinking
1st 3.07
2nd 2.19
3rd 1.625
4th 1.25
5th 1.00
6th 0.8 (or taller over-drive option)
Would like it to be good street gearbox that can take 800hp or over.

There was a guy on one of the GTR groups looking into it start of last year, however progress had been slow and last I heard its now a sequential with a price tag to match.
Not particurally interested in a sequential, but i'd love a 6 speed manual in the standard housing with OS-88 option 2 ratios;
2.890, 1.981, 1.468, 1.174, 1.000, 0.757
I would love to see if a 6-speed helical/ syncro box could be done. I’ve enquiries with 2 businesses already to get some information.
using similar gear ratios to the stock R34 getrag, incorporating carbon fibre syncros and billet shift forks and a modern tooth profiles would be what I’m trying to achieve.
Lest see where this can go??

I believe Action Dan did a thread on it,
https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468151-getrag-parts-discontinued/I’ve seen that thread but it was to do with refreshing a Getrag 6-speed box and not finding a direct fit 6-speed gearset to suit the 5- speed R32 / R33 box.
Thanks though. Appreciate it.

I’m actually starting to make enquiries to see what can be done. ??♂️

That is real interesting. Please post before and after results.
I might talk to a well respected Turbo builder in NZ and see if he ca do similar before I go for a tune.
As I’m changing turbos, cams and getting the heads ported I don’t feel there will be an accurate comparison but here is the results of my current set up.
Highflowed -7’s
kelford 264 8.9 Cams
plazmaman 76mm intercooler

The current Gen 2q's seem to have more grunt to them and would seem to easily surpass the previous setups that have been tried (to varying levels of success. I know that AdamLZ on the youtube's has a set to go onto the R34 which is in the build so will be good to see the outcome there.
