An alternative to a bolt-in silencer for the tailpipe is to get an Exhaust Control Valve.
They now come in active as well as manual versions and may help you get through, depending on how much over the noise limit you are.
Bear in mind the butterfly valve remains in the exhaust stream even when set to open, which you may want to consider if you've gone for a straight pipe from a performance point of view.
Also not legal in NZ sadly

my straight pipe r33 failed a WOF for too noisy exhaust. Can I put on of those silencer things on the end to pass the wof or would they want a whole muffler ?
You can't use those bolt in silencers anymore, get a shop to put in some inline mufflers or get a proper exhaust

I should really dig out my pics of the NISMO HQ visit from my last trip
Pretty neat place, if not a bit out of the way. I'm told you can do guided tours but have yet to work out how. Presumably its only in Japanese.

Actually we stopped selling them as they weren't fitting as well as OEM and had too many complaints.

Oooh yeah, I'm sure there will be some hidden gems in the Hako too. On the plus side, at least you can buy some pre made replacement sections?
Yeah but by the time/cost they get to NZ probably cheaper/easier just to get em folded locally
-
Work of art this is.. I'm just about to take the plunge on the Hako, both side sills are rusted through underneath some fun Japanese body work so probably end up same as this

Just a note, most arms will be suitable for more negative but don't often allow for positive adjustment.
