  1. Yeah, I was told I couldn't enter unless I brought it. I'm not sure if that's because they really didn't want the WRX... Tim.
  2. I'm entered. GT and WRX. The WRX is still in bits, hopefully it'll at least be driveable , and I have no intention of doing anything more than make a bit of noise in the GT. Chicane ruins it IMO. Could end up being a bit of a washout. Tim.
  3. 14th is Mothers day so I may not make it. I'll leave that one up to SWaMBO. :-) There's an MGCCT super-sprint at Baskerville on the 21st according to <http://www.hobartsportingcarclub.org/events.html>. Hopefully I'll make that. Tim.
  4. Best I could do with the engine misbehaving as it was. I still had to be a bit conservative given that I didn't know how the engine was going to respond when I got into the throttle. Bring on engine 1! Tim.
  5. The best lot to watch IMO were the Torana, Commodore, GT-R (Gary), Celica group: very entertaining! The track was pretty slippery in places. Most of the cars were having difficulty on some newly laid patches on the track so the times achieved were pretty good I reckon. There was some small amount of rain in the morning and afternoon, those affected had to put up with a very greasy surface. Thank's to the Mini Car Club for once again running a great grass-roots motor-sport event. Without clubs like MCC and the people involved (especially officials etc), bureaucracy and apathy would kill motorsport. While I'm here I'll stray off topic a tad and congratulate those involved with the effort to get the drift thing happening. Well Done! I hope it all goes as planned. Tim.
  6. It's a long way to a minute. That last race (last one I saw anyway) with the 1600 looked pretty intense. Tim.
  7. Hopefully without sounding like a wet blanket... if you intend doing speed events like hillclimbs etc with any regularity, and especially if you're going to try for every last tenth, I'd strongly recommend a cage and at least basic safety gear. I know that for many it seems impractical or expensive but when things go wrong (and unfortunately things do sometimes) it's too late to change your mind. It's about more than rules and reg's. If you don't have the safety gear just take it easy and treat it as fun not competition. Racetracks, cars, speed etc should be treated with respect not blind optimism. I encourage people to take it to the track, but keep things in perspective and use common sense. Tim.
  8. Do you have a date in mind for Baskerville? Tim.
  9. In amongst all the roadkill and Volvo's you'll find the occasional car... Tim.
  10. Not yet. I have had some trouble getting decent information about them. The manuals I have are for a Mazda and a Honda. I was hoping the computer would control the boost without having to use a separate boost controller but the FC won't see the map sensor. The business that sold it to me are no help at all. Good luck with it. Let us know how things go. Tim.
  11. Thanks for the reply on the Apexi Manual. I have tried there but can't seem to get to a manual for the controller. It shouldn't be a problem, the RX7 one is a great help anyway. I'll have two Japanese people staying with me in a week so I'll ask them to translate for me. :-) I should be getting the Apexi installed on the GTR in the next few days. It was nice to meet you Wogboy. Nice car and a great result! The intercooler setup is a credit to you. Makes me wish I wasn't so lazy.
  12. Cool! Are spectators allowed? :-) What mod's? Tim.
  13. Regarding the gearbox thing. I have broken 2 or 3... or 4 gearboxes in the WRX. <8-( Hopefully that's fixed now. Nissan and Toyota seem to have managed to make decent strength boxes so I don't know why it's taken so long for Subaru. Has anybody on this forum used the Apexi Power FC on a Skyline? If so do you have an English manual for one (R33 GTR would be nice)? I have one for an RX7 but I assume there may be some differences in the software that may be of interest. Tim.
  14. McRen, If this is for fun then ok. If I just misunderstood your post and aggravated you then sorry lets start again. What do you drive? The black MR2 is supposed to be pretty quick but I've never seen it run. I know it's had a lot spent on it. FWIW I go along with those who recommend Rodney Howell but I haven't personally used him. I know he's a good bloke with a good reputation. The MR2 looks pretty trick from what I've seen. Specialist also have a good reputation but again I haven't used them. Boccino's have done good work on a previous car for me but I don't know how many Japanese cars they do, I think they're more European oriented (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). I currently use the business I use because I've been friends with the owners for a while. Tim.
  15. Being relatively inexperienced with this style of forum, could someone explain to me how to do that quote thing that McRen did? I realise I've probably overlooked something simple. Tim.
  16. It seems I was sucked in by a flamer, cool. Anyway where were you Northern guys when I was in Longford on Sunday? :-) Tim.
  17. The WRX is pretty much just for going quick at the track. I have tried to keep it as standard looking as possible within the limits of reason given the amount of cooling etc it needs. I get asked about my connection with Autocraft about 3 times a day (it seems) and am a bit sick of answering the question. Just for the record again, I have none. I'm not really in to dressing up cars with fibreglass etc. I have no problem with it, I just don't particularly want to do it. I prefer to keep things as subtle/tasteful as possible. My taste probably isn't everybodies cup of tea but I can't help that. As for heavily modified cars in Japan etc, My car currently makes around 500bhp AFW (not a method I normally quote but probably more useful when comparing to japanese cars). When my new injectors arrive it should make close to 600. There aren't many WRX's here or in Japan making that sort of power. I realise there are much more powerful GTR's there but that's not really the point. In its first shakedown run at Baskerville recently it did 61 and a half second laps with no effort and a passenger. It should get into the high 50's although I won't say what times I'm expecting until I do them. :-) This is on RE540s'. There are a couple of people on this list who saw that shakedown run. For reference, whitey and PJ do low 59's in races usually. Tim.
  18. None. I've known the Kershaws for a while but I have no interest in the business. Go where you want I don't care. I thought you asked where I took it and asked for feedback, I don't remember trying to promote them. It's a WRX, it can't be much of a car can it? I guess you don't. Mines modified enough for me. Tim.
  19. That was most probably mine. It's white and has huge brakes on it, cage etc. It's a very fast car. Autocraft do good work. They have a bit of a time organisation problem which will hopefully be sorted out soon. Tim.
  20. There was a guy in a black GTiR who tried to suck me into a drag on the Southern Outlet a few weeks ago. I didn't drag him but I gave him a bit of a show at Kingston. Tim.
  21. Probably fairly cost effective and reasonably easy. I don't have any direct experience with the concept so I can't give any useful advice. I'd give it a go though. :-) Tim.
