Thanks for the info guys.. I've been talking to my mechanic over here and there really isn't a straight bolt on option unless you: a)rebuild / hiflow the standard turbo, or B) go japanese namebrand... Now, I'm told that it would cost around the $2,200 mark to do the rebuild, and I can source a HKS 2530 band new for just under $2,600. Now I'm told the 2530 will bolt straight on to the RB25 with no changes to manifold etc. I would also think the HKS would be a full ball bearing turbo and could handle more power??? Any thoughts??? Cheers Brett

aw11, I am in Perth and have a Bell (can't remember the model offhand). It cost me $849 about 2 months ago. I have since only been able to 'find' 3 multinova camera's to test the range of it with dissapointing results. The first two times the operator was standing next to the camera's and my radar only went off about 20 metres or less away, and the last time I saw the camera about 100 metre's away, but a car pulled out of a driveway and blocked the camera until I was right on it and the radar went off... SO, I don't know if the coverage is crap (like less than 20 metres) which won't save ya, or if the operator was testing the cameras the first 2 times and the car blocked it the last time... Oh I did pass one on albany hwy but it was on the other side of the road. My radar didn't pick it up until I had gone past it, but went crazy for about 200 meters down the road.... hmmmmmmm... my 2c. Ok fella's, Need some 'expert' knowledge. Does anyone know if a Garrett GT30 BB will bolt straight on to an RB25det?? I know they need an external wastgate, but I've been told (pretty reliable source too) that they are a T3 flange the same as the RB25. Cheers Brett

Dave, That is a factory paintjob, they came out both two tone and full colour.. The factory paint code is BN6 which is 'Deep Marine Blue with Pearl". In fading light and under street lights at night it has a purple colour to it. Brett Edit. InitalD from perth has the two tone one with the green pearl. Don't think his is the same code as mine.

Gr33dy, It is a series one with a series 2 front end. Apparently in early to mid 96 they did hybrids before releasing the full SII. Brett

They are indeed ROH Adrenalines Shadow Chromes.... Nice but common as nowadays, am looking to change to a set of nice gold rims, just have to find a set I like..... Brett

EXTREMELY Biased opinion but:

Bam Bam, Yeah I was dropping a mate off at Xspeed to pick his 180 up and then we went down the drags.... Were you in a silver falcon?? Brett

Steve, I got all the gear from auto one. They sourced the flexicoat for me, which is supposed to stop the paint cracking and flaking in the sun or when you take the dash apart (it hasn't cracked or flaked yet). I would recommend rubbing it back before putting the clear over it. The reason I stuffed it up was because I didn't thin the silver paint enough for the first coat so it went on a little blobby.. I rubbed it back a bit but not enough, though some people rekon it looks ok cause it sort of matches the grain of the top dash.. The clear is definately a good idea it gives it a really good shine. I had blue and purple pearl mixed through it but didnt' put enough in so you only see a slight tinge... If you have access to a proper spray gun and compressor it will be better but auto one sells hand held aerosole packs.. I went through 3 cans... I will try and get some new pics soon and post em for ya, but some of the guys on here have seen it you could ask their opinion... Brett

Bam Bam, I painted my dash myself since the places I went to for quotes all were well over the $300 mark!!!! I picked up all the stuff I needed for around $100 (that included primer, paint, flexicoat, pearl clear and spray guns).. The one pain in the arse is that the standard dash has a black coat already on it which bubbles and peels when you prime it, so I had to strip it all off first, not an easy job!!!! I f*cked the first coat so it doesn't look that great close up but I figured I'd wait a while and see how it wears and then do it again.... I think it looks way better than standard, it certainly dresses the interior up... Brett

Dude, I have an R33 GTS25t with a series 2 front end (no idea about the engine or ecu), and I have replaced my stock computer with a PFC. No idea if it will work in your car. $300 plus postage if you want it.. Brett

I'm with RAC too, and I was told that all existing import policies will be continued, but they weren't issuing any new policies. Just don't let your insurance expire!!!!!

URGENT, need earlier model hand controller for Power FC
EVL R33 replied to GOTRICE's topic in Western Australia
Check ya PM's dude... -
Silver, PDF is on its way... It won't reset itself, it uses ROM to store the settings so even with the power off for ages it should still keep the tuned settings. Reset it as soon as you plug it in just to be safe.. mr180, it does sound like you have the wrong commander. Nengun sells them second hand pretty cheap so it might be worth while picking one up, that way you never have to run around looking to borrow one... Also you do have to turn the boost control off if you aren't using the PFC Boost controller, but that's simple once the commander is working...
-
Could be interested in the front end, as long as it will fit on a series II. How much would you be looking for??
-
mr180, I just checked the Commander manual and it does say that the exhaust temp check light is used when there is a faulty sensor, however it goes on to say you have to use the commander to find out which sensor is faulty and replace it.... Not sure what is causing the commander to freeze on the Logo, is it brand new or second hand? Have you made sure the harness is nice and tightly plugged in?? Brett
-
Wassabi, I know what you mean about C-Red, Lumpy is a great guy and an expert and tuning the PFC's but a bit unreliable in terms of getting back to you with info and dates.. Though in his defence he is extremely busy and always getting interupted with phone calls and people wanting to pick his brain (read me!!!) ha ha ha PSI are pretty good to, just way to far for me to travel.... Did you go through Nengun for the PFC?? Brett P.S. did you know there is a dark green/black Jag driving around with WASABI number plates....

The commander is definately worth getting if you can get a good price.... You can monitor up 10 different parameters in real time (knock, injector duty, air flow, water temp, speed, revs, ingition advance, intake air temp(not on GTSTs though) and battery voltage). It's really good for when you are giving the car heaps cause it stores peak values as well so you can see where it's pinging, at what revs etc... I've got mine mounted just to the right of the air con, so it's easy to see but not in the way of anything.. You can use someone elses H/c to tune yours if you can get one, but I believe there are different versions around that may not work with older / really new PFC's. The problem you will have in borrowing one is like mine if it's installed into the car you have to take things apart to unplug it.... Not too hard a job but a bit of a hassle I guess.... Brett
-
25Gtt, Yeah he has a mate who just brought his own dyno a few weeks ago, and Glen will be using that one for all his work now. I don't know the other fella's name so I called it Lumpy's dyno cause I'm lazy... ha ha ha I was tossing up whether to get the Safc but for a PFC at $1450 including shipping and hand controller it was too good to pass up... Brett
-
Wassabi, I'd go the Power FC for sure, I got mine through Nengun for an unbeatable price and it took just 3 days to get here. It cost me $300 for install and tuning by Lumpy, and i picked up 30rwhp from 3500rpm right through to around 6000rpm. Car runs heaps better, comes on boost harder, and pulls like a train right to redline. Plus you loose the 180 speed limiter, can upgrade afm, injectors and keep and eye on pinging and other stuff with the commander... Id definately recommend Nengun, I'll be using him again.... And Lumpy for tuning... Brett
-
Silver, It will need to be reset if it is second hand, as you don't know how is was tuned for the last car it was in, mine is second hand and I reset is as soon as I plugged it in... I have a pdf of the commander manual if you are interested.... Brett

Ryan, I saw a Blue R32 GTR a few months ago on Nicholson road in Lynwood, unfortunately I was a passenger in the wife's excel so I couldn't catch them and have a chat. The driver looked pretty young too, and VERY happy!!!! ha ha ha It was a similar blue to mine... Brett
