  1. Yes the fuel in Australia sucks. It sucks a lot!

4GN13 I have heard pretty good things about prestige, and they seem like nice ppl to do business with. I nearly bought a car of them but found one localy just before I ordered it.

The benefit of buying local is you know exactly what your getting and you can get a mechanic to look it over. If you import you will get it cheaper but not everyone gets a good import. Most are happy but some are rather disapointed.

Of course with the new laws in regards to importing, you will have to get a car in stock form, or pay to have it returned to stock form and the modified parts distroyed. Just something to bare in mind.

  2. it was heaps of fun. Only Dazsta and I came though :D

It was me, Dazsta and a guy in an M3 on the track in our session. There were a fair few bike in the other session which was pretty cool. Very fast! A guy in an open wheeler came latter, it was a cool little beast! I'll post photos soon.

  3. 4NGI3:

    1. I get about 370km around town, 450km on a highway run. Just did a 220 km tank at Wakefield today!

I came from a 2001 Holden Astra that got 650kms around town and 800kms on the highway, plus it had a smaller tank!

    2. I reckon if you hit the rear quarter panel it would be $$$. Dunno. Certainly there are a heap of parts around.

    3. I do a major service every 10,000kms and an oil & oil filter change every 5,000kms.

    4. The constant adiction to mods!

  4. If I was you dude, I'd get the NA and then latter trade up to a turbo. I think a Turbo at 17 is pretty risky. I'm only 19 and have a turbo. I look at some of my friends my age and I think they'd be dead if they had a turbo. It comes back to maturity. I think when you first get your license though having a turbo isn't a great idea. Having lost people I know in car accidents, I'm inclined to tell you to get a few years experience before going down the turbo road. Besides, build up a bit of no claim bonus and It'll drop the insurance down a bit too.

    Just my 2 cents.

  5. There was a good article in the last HPI comparing the XR6 Turbo to the Supra. They said "The closest thing to a Japanese car to come out of Australia. We can't praise the XR6T any more than that".

I think the guy doing the review was a little biased as he owns a Supra, but hey, what can you do?

The writer goes on about how the 2JZ-GTE is the greatest and most proven engine of all time, whereas the 240T still has to prove it's self. "The few players in the aftermarket who have tested the 240T engine have come away confused and frustrated with an uncooperative managment system, and intercooler/exhaust systems that are far from optimum".

Apparently the LPG spec rods are a must for a serious build-up.

They also said that the Ford doesn't like to be revved!

All in all though, I think Ford is onto a good thing. However, if I was looking for a sporty family car, I'd still by a WRX!

  6. I get my car serviced at Skyline Performance. Joe is the guy who owns the place.

So far so good. He's done a few things for me at no charge like fixing my front bar (it had droped on one side and he made new brackets). All in all no complaints. He was by far the cheapest place I found to get my cam belt changed as well.

I haven't had any mods done there yet but his garage is always full of some pretty nice Skylines (and a couple of GTi-Rs & 200SXs etc.).
