  1. you would thing flat spotted tyres would be picked up in a simple balance?
  2. steering bushes / rack are apperently fine, 2 mechanics have looked at it , i wouldnt know a thing about it myself i can't see any evidence of acidents and i'm sure suspension places or mechancis would have pointed it out as the easy way out of a question by a customer (should be easy with the car on a hoist which they have had it many times) i went to swap my friends r32gtst 4's wheels to brothers r32 gtst just yesterday. turns out that suspension components must vary greatly between these two cars, as there was insane scrubbing with 18's on the gtst, so we werent able to test the car with new tyres and wheels!!! i might look into the discs being out of balance. will a simple machine of the discs pick up on this?
  3. it's been alinged like 4-5 times recently, it was done today even i plan on changing all the tyres / rims on it this w/e hopefulllly i'm assuming the tailshaft was balanced before putting in, they custom made it and the place brags to make them for gtr drag skylines so you'd think they'd make on that can go over 100km/h with no worries :
  4. he had the wheels balanced and aligned again had 3 different people confirm that the suspension is tight as no one knows whast the go now.... i'll see if i can get a mate to swap all 4 wheels / tyres this w/e and see if that makes any diff...
  5. turns out the joints couldnt be serviced cheaply got a new one piece tailshaft brother reports that the problem is worst then before? he is now going to sell the car took me 2-3 years to convince him he needed boost. now this happens
  6. update: some industry guy (not mechanic) had a feel of the uni joints and said they were rooted. so they're getting replaced. he said there was a balancing plate missing on the tailshaft tho..... might cause problems
  7. he had different rims and rubber on them for a while and they have been taken off and balanced by 3 places at least
  8. hey guys short storey / question is: brothers got an r32gtst and its having a chronic steering wheel shaking above 110km/h. could the tail shaft / tail shaft universal joints becausing this? long storey is; he's had it balanced and aligned by 3-4 ppl, had joints / bushes etc changed, spent over $1k in suspension parts with no effect. and he does regular driving on highways, the wobbling / shaking is bad enough to cause pain and numbness after an hour or so, so its bad. i pulled out the tail shaft but i'm no mechanic to know if theres anything wrong with it, 2 of the uni joints seemed to like to 'click' into the central position, i'm not sure if this is normal or not i know you can get 1 piece tailshafts made but its $500 more that does not want ot be spent if it doesnt fix the problem, does anyone have advice / similar situation experiences? anyone know of a tailshaft / gearbox place that would look at the shaft and give an honest opinion if its dead or could be causing vibrations? thanks for any help
  9. try telling any store that sells brakes that you have an "m spec" and they'll be rather puzzled one store said they had a listing for r32 gts and that should cover all r32's... (well thats the impression i got) no one else knows if r32 gtst 4 brakes are the same as r32 gtst's?
  10. does anyone know if the pads, discs and calipers are the same between these two? i'm mainly concerned with the pads atm
  11. my brothers rb20det was misfiring brought the gaps down to 0.8 and it fixed 99% of it
  12. mm ok we'll have to look into that but the noise is coming from the engine bay, not the back of the car here is a better pic of the hose that jumps about, any ideas what it is actually for?
  13. hey guys, i was able to go checkout kribside's car today and looks like to me that there is a hardline from the air condition pump (maybe?) that is visibly knocking backwards and forwards. i've gone around it here in MS Paint. so its fair dodgey. has anyone had experience with a problem like this? and is it part of the air conditioning? (no cars i've ever had have had a/c hah) i could grab the hose but it wouldnt stop the knocking noise, couldnt work out exactly where it was coming from other than either the motor or the pipe hitting metal somewhere, but like i said, holding it wouldnt stop the noise
  14. ........i dont think that the turbo timers current draw would have anything to do with the original poster of this thread anyone else with any ideas / experience?
  15. hi all looking for a r33 turbo with elbow sydney area would be preferred pm me thanks david
  16. thanks for the replies turns out it was misfiring at 10psi too, just not as bad as 12psi lol.. anyhow i took the gap down to 0.8 and it runs beautifully and hard at 10psi. but more than that and it was misfiring again... oh well i'll have to look into this later i guess! might just get a gtr pump when one becomes available, cheaper than chucking it on a dyno..
  17. gday boys i just put a fmic into my brothers fairly stock r32 gtst after doing some research i was planning to run it at 12psi when adjusted to 12psi or so, the car had serious issues revving out, however it wasn't as tho it was struggling. i thought it was maybe a sort of soft boost cut (but it obvoiusly isnt at 12psi). the car had issues revving out before (normal boost), just generally struggling. got a new fuel filter and she's sweet. she's sweet now at 10psi. but around 12psi it seems to make a splutter or a surge once or twice when revvving out, it just doesnt feel right. it apparently occasionally did this at 7psi, but does it everytime at it also has brand new plugs put in, just normal ngk coppers i'm suspecting a few things, not sure what tho! gap on spark plugs need to be taken down fuel pump coil packs? maybe ecu? if anyone has any experience i'd appreciate any feedback, thanks alot!!
