  1. No dramas mate. Keep an eye out for animals though, i do that trip very often and theres heaps of them in certain areas - ive found though, that if you can leave Sydney around 7pm and stick to the speed limit (only stopping for petrol) you'll miss the bad spots as they only come out at certain times at night. A few weeks ago i hit a wallaby/kangaroo out the front of the servo as you come into Melbourne where the roadworks are but i was delayed came came through there about 30mins before dawn, its all in the timing :)

Yeah thats true. Thanks for the advice. Last time took about just over 8 hours to get home from the track (only stopping for fuel).

  2. If you're coming up and stopping halfway, there's a good place to stay in Tarcutta (which is about halfway). The return trip will take you 8hrs near the speed limit

Thanks mate, I normally stop at Gundagai for the night whenever I head up for this or WSID meets, done it a few times now, the return trip isn't too bad in one stint at night because the roads are quiet.

  3. hmm i wonder how i missed this thread.

one word for the motorshow "crap". it basically felt like car city, 20 car show rooms but you couldnt take any car for a drive. The mitsu girls were very nice. but yeah. atleast i didnt have to spend $38 to enter the place (2 ppl)

if the one in two years is this crap i would hope they dont have one at all.

Summed it up nicely, worst motorshow I have been to since I can remember (I've been going for at least 10 years now), even the cars for auction weren't as good as previous years (even though there isn't much that can be done about that, but still lol), inside was quite disappointing.

  4. Hey Guys and Girls,

Super lap is getting closer i have booked my flight's.

But i don't know where to stay can any one help me, prefer to stay close to oran park.

    Around $200 a night.

    Thanks.

Not sure if this map will work, but check out where Oran Park is and then maybe search wotif.com.au for accomodation in some of the larger towns near there.

I'm planning to drive up and stop half way on the night before then travel straight home after the event.

  5. The GT40 in the front will almost certainly be a replica either a DRB, a Tornado or infact any one of atleast a dozen different knock offs that you can buy. The shame of it is I have yet to see one driven properly.

Thats true, last time I was out at Sandown with MSCA, I was held up for a few corners by that GT before finally getting alongside it on the straight and passing it.

  6. Thanks Guys,

Thanks for the tips. I hope that I can be of some assistance some day.

I have been a bit worried about running with standard sump and oil pump, I probably will change things later if the engine gets pulled out. I have been watching the oil pressure and oil temp guage a lot just driving around town. Have noticed oil pressure has been good (4 @ 4,000rpm) when temperature is nice and hot when under load. But when it idles before shutting down the pressure drops too I guess the 2 mark (half way between 4 and zero). Ambient temp has been 35 to 39 degrees. Does this seem to be ok ?

I have also heard to run extra litre of oil. Is this too much ?

I am getting a catch can made up so if it is too much it could vent and not cause the seals to blow out and start leaks. Do you think it would help ?

    Thanks

    Jay

I still have the standard sump in mine and run an extra half to one litre of oil, a few of the Vic guys do that from what I've read.

A catch can will help especially once out on the track and an oil cooler will definitely help out as well.

  7. I agree with Marlin and Sinful's first posts. Did about 10track days last year and found that the standard GT-R seats lacked support and I was bracing myself a lot more through corners etc to cope with the movement. Will be fitting a proper fixed back race seat and harness soon.

  8. Haven't noticed many redbacks, but every couple of months I find whitetails inside the house and normally there will be two at a time for some reason (sometimes spaced by a day or two). Nasty little f**kers.
