  1. Now that you mention it, there was a case over on SDU - some sucker in the States, turned out the water pump had next to no vanes on the pump's impeller wheel

yer when i got my 100K service done and the mechanic pulled out the water pump, thats exactly what happened. he asked me if i noticed high temps, and i said no, was normal (smack middle of the temp guage). i only just bought the 32 and had done 500km's so if the engine was going it would have happened to the previous owner. (haha the mech said it was the most damaged water pump he had ever seen).

pretty hard to tell if its the pump blades though, since you gotta dissamble a whole heap of stuff.

  2. pretty new here, and am finally getting some more funds after ive bought my r32 gtst.

currently it just has the standard front bumper and standard rear wing. Im looking to get a mean front bumper, side skirts and back bumper. not too sure what i will do with the wing yet.

anyway, so far the only place i have enquired is jetspeed in brisbane. they can make copies of kits from trial, vertex, BN sports do-luck. they wrote VS on the sheet as well, but ive totally forgotten what that stands for  Out of those im leaning towards the do luck. they all cost the same to buy, install and paint from those guys and from what i saw at the garage their finished product looks pretty good. final price is just over $2K (am i allowed to say that here?)

does anyone know of any other reasonable body kit sellers/fitters in brisbane? failing that does anyone know of any decently priced kit makers/sellers in australia that will ship?

Ive tried searching, but not much comes up...only related stuff i find is in regard to fitting kits

    thanks :headspin:

  3. well i put my car into hardcore racing at slacks creek today for my 100K service. got the usual stuff done, timing belt, water pump, diff oil, gearbox oil, seals, bearings, etc

    anyway, things that were stuffed:

    - water pump: all the teeth were chopped off. somehow it was still pumping water, but i doubt it would have for much longer. the mechanic said it was the worst water pump he had ever seen

    - coil packs: i was getting misfires after coming off mid-high boost. turns out both packs had cracks, and 3 electrodes were damaged to all buggery. only 2 were in a "ok" state

so after that was all fixed/replaced a dyno run/tune was done (dyno run done before service too)

very nice increase. its a helluva lot smoother now, the gearbox is way more nicer to shift now and now i know the car is mechanically sound again. it wasnt cheap though, the coils bloody cost a lot (2nd hand as well).

so the moral of the story is: if your due for a major milestone service, go and do it. u might not know what parts may be at their limit.

  4. slightly off topic, but after applying to get a quote from hardcore racing in brisbane to get my 100K service done (still waiting on quote to get back to me tomorrow), the dude was adament he would only use genuine nissan idler bearings. He said he had seen to many aftermarket bearings die shortly afterwards. considoring the idler bearing can cost over $300 for the genuine part, im wondering how true this is?

  5. holy crap, the same thing happened to me today...was heading down to the gold coast, going up a hill just before the freeway entrance, and i looked at the oil guage. was at the bottom but no red light...freaked me out

so i pulled into a side street, let it idle 30 seconds, and pressure came back to normal (3kg/cm2) and on the freeway cruising in 5th at 2900rpm was reading 5kg/cm2. temps were normal, no fumes, nothign else.

however on the gold coast a few hours later after i put some petrol in, i boosted it a lil (still under the speed limit) and oil pressure dropped again, 1 min later back to normal.

mine is prob more related to old oil, as im due for my 100K service (im actually 2K over...got the car at 101K and previous owner hasnt done major service). Im getting that done next weekend by hardcore racing in slacks creek so ill see how it ends up.

  6. go the skyline mate, you only live once

btw, i got my r32 gtst in vgc for $13500. as for insurance im going through JCI and getting 3rd party fire and theft for $497 a year, and I have no driving history save for a speeding fine 7 years ago (!!! im surprised too). I am 25.

but my brother who just bought a moderatly modified r33 gtst who does have a driving record (1 criminal charge) got quoted around about $1200 by JCI and he is 23 yo. (was quotes $700 for 3rd pf&t).

as for handling a turbo, this is my 1st turboed car as well. Ive taken it easy since i got the car (well as reasonable as you can be when your doing cruises/etc) and i got it about 5 weeks ago. so far ive onlyspun the rears twice, once in the wet going around a small roundabout at 20kmh, that showed me what kinda power to expect. and the 2nd time got it slightly sideways turning right across a major arterial, so nowi know where the "slide" point is now.

other than that, driving a gtst is pretty easy and a joy as well, because of the direct feel of the steering and the extra power when needed.
