Thanks a lot for the support guys. It just really sucks because today I got about 6 calls from interested buyers and I've had to turn them away. The guy was aussie, in his late 20s early 30s, had chicken pox, sany blonde short hair, about 175 cms, slim build. My biggest lead is that he was wearing a blue polo shirt which said Eastern Sydney Construction or East Coast Construction. If this sounds familiar please let me know. If you see the car it's got some unusual features. It has no spoiler, no antenna, the doors need a respray, the front bar is cracked and has duct tape, loud BOV and exhaust. It just plain stands out. Again, thanks so much for your support. Use this as a warning guys. If anyone wants to test drive your car, meet them in a neutral place where they can't escape too quickly. And always hold onto their licence. Make that the first thing you do. If they refuse, don't show them the car. I took him for a spin and I got out and he goes "can I drive" I agreed and as I was opening the passenger door he drove off.

Some arsehair posing as a buyer stole my s13 yesterday 10th march. He was last seen heading towards Hurstville on Railway Parade around 3PM. If ANYONE has any info whatsoever please contact me. The car will definately stand out. Its got a BN sports kit, Apec apache 18s, loud exhaust, RB20, ns.com sticker. It's white with duct tape on the front bar. The plates are red KLR 02L mounted to the side on the front bar. Please if anyone sees it call 0423 451 346. I was gonna use this money to get out of debt and take my GF on a holiday but the stupid crack head need a quick fix I guess. He mentioned living around Maroubra so everyone around there please keep an eye out for it. How did you go about getting on probation? I'm almost 100% sure I'm gonna get a 3 month suspention when I pay off my fine but I've got a good record and don't really wanna be off the road for that long.

Fixed mine completely yesterday. The electrical problem that made my car only stall when the lights were on was the master earth. It had somehow come off and just needed to be screwed onto a different place. After all that trouble, I have finally gotten rid of this problem.

Guys, I got my car back today after having the same problem fixed. First I got a brand new fuel pump, which was the main suspect. The car was better but it didn't fix the problem. Then they changed the afm but still no cigar. After a few days of figuring out the problem, they fixed/changed the crank angle sensor (got nfi what it is/does) and now it's perfectly fine. Almost... It used to stall every single time I stopped but now it doesn't do it unless the lights are on. ARGHHH. Which leads me to believe either a) Need new battery. (getting one on Monday) or B) it's an electrical problem. I'm gonna take it to an auto electrician on Monday if the new battery doesn't work. I'll keep you guys informed. So to sum it up, if you've checked the fuel pump and AFM and it's still f**ked, try the CAS.

I've been having the same problem with my RB20. I am getting a bosch fuel pump put in today because it seems like it's being starved of fuel. Hopefully that is the cause. If not, I'm gonna replace the AFM like you guys said. I'ver also got another symptom that I haven't seen mentioned. My water temp gauge goes half way normally, when I put my parkers it shoots up, normal lights it goes to the top, high beams it goes off the meter. Anyone else have this problem too? I don't think the AFM would be causing this.

I need to replace my current battery as it is old, shitted and it's still the CA18DE battery from my old engine. What I wanted to know, before I go spending my money, is what type of battery do I need to get? I have an RB20DET in my s13 silvia. I will probably get it from auto one, supercheap, kmart or autobarn. I don't wanna be spending heaps on an odyssey either. Also, I want to change the spark plugs too. Where should I get them from and which ones do I need? Thanks.

It's got the stock blow off valve. Haven't touched a thing other than the dipstick when checking the oil. After I start it up again it loses power for a bit (drives as slow as a commodore ) kinda like theres no pressure going into the turbo.

OK for the past few days my car has been giving me absolute hell and I am asking here to see if I can sort it out before taking it a mechanic. I know you guys are really helpful, so here goes. I've got an RB20DET in my s13, converted by a highly praised workshop, with a pod as the only mod. It's been fine for about 2 months now, but in the past couple of days it's shit itself. Everytime I slow down it has a heart attack, it revs really low and feels like it's about to stall. It's stalled on me 4 times in the past 2 days, 3 times today. I have no idea what can be wrong as I haven't touched a thing on it since I got the engine. Everytime I stop at a red light it either stalls or almost stalls. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with it, as I don't want it stalling everytime I stop.

I meant cut the speaker off. Don't be going snip snip on every wire you see. :lol:

My s13 has the same thing. I'm used to it. Sometimes it's good because my short shifter loves to pop out of gear, and I know it's in gear if the thing is beeping. If you wanna get rid of it, just cut the wires.

I got a reputable workshop to do the work. I didn't touch anything since I got it back.

Hey guys, I just put an RB20DET into my s13 and it's been running perfectly for about 2 weeks. Just a few days ago it started behaving a bit bad. When I'd go to turn it on I would have to hold the key for ages before it would turn on. When it would turn on the revs got to 300-400 and it feels like it's about to stall. I have to give the throtle a bit before it would idle at 800rpm. Today it took me 4 tries to get it going. It would start then immediately turn off. What could be the cause of this? I'm thinknig spark plugs, injectors or fuel pump. It was serviced when I had it put in too.

What about if you're hosing down said bonnet?

Just thought I'd share my s13. I got her back yesterday. All it has so far is a POD and a short shifter. Doing the exhaust next then intercooler and a bit more boost. I don't know why the sr20 fanboys pay this engine out. I can't get the smile off my face.

Hey guys, I've been reading these forums for a while now (great source of information) and I just wanted to get a few answers regarding the RB20DET. 1. I am doing an RB20DET conversion in my s13 Silvia very soon (going from CA18DE) and I just wanted to know what maintenence should I do to the engine when I get it? How long should I stay off boost for, what speed should I stay under, what would need replacing etc? 2. What is it's fuel capacity? 3. In terms of mods, I am looking at doing the exhaust first (3 inch turbo back, high flow cat etc) then doing the boost and FMIC. Is this a good start or should I go a different route all together. Thanks in advance.
