  1. My 1992 R32 N1 GTR is car number 87 of 114, non v-spec N1's.

Almost entirely in original condition with 70,000km's, the only modifications are an original NISMO period exhaust, an oil cooler kit to keep temps down in the hot Australian summers and a Nistune ECU chip and Profec B Boost Controller to ensure all runs smoothly with Australian fuel.

The car has been owned by me for the last 7 years, and was purchased while i was searching for a Series 3 R33 GTR, and found a thread on SAU where someone had spotted this beauty.

Its travelled less than 15000km's since i've owned it, and is resigned to Sunday drives, SAU events and family trips down the coast.

"The Skyline GT-R 'N1' model, introduced on July 19, 1991, was designed for home-market N1 racing with a total of 228 units produced. The most notable change was in the engine, which was upgraded to the R32-N1 specification. The car was also lightened by the removal of the ABS, air conditioning, sound system, rear wiper, trunk carpet, and the use of light-weight headlights. No color options were available and all 'N1' cars were delivered with a thin layer of Crystal White paint. The result was a 30 kg weight savings for a curb weight of 1,400 kg"

  2. Any of the CDN items are. Straight swap.

That said you can also get a USDM one same swap the centre display out of it into the jap one as well. You still need to buy the full USDM cluster though.

    Thanks Chris.

Does it need to be the same year model or could you drop say a 2011 CDN unit straight into a JDM 08?

Curious as i prefer the newer dash with the white in the centre rather than the red from the earlier models.

  3. They all say it wasn't bought at auction... it's the new line that comes after:

    - One owner, LOW KMs, No accidents

    - Owner was a little old Japanese lady, never drove the car

    - Little old lady lost the logbooks - whoops!

    - Japan is a small country, they don't drive far

    - Japanese have rough hands so all that wear on the wheel/shift is normal

    - Japanese don't like to put servicing stickers on their cars because they look ugly

    - Oh and it wasn't bought at auction

Talk to any well reputed broker (J-Spec, Iron Chef, Prestige Motorsport) about how hard it is to buy vehicles in Japan through the local dealer networks. The chances an imported car was not bought at auction either directly by the importer or by their chosen Japanese exporter are extremely slim - buying at auction is too cheap and convenient.

If they can't supply the auction sheet AND de-registration certificate, see if you can get hold of them yourself or find another seller that can.

Any advice on how i can look up past auction cars?
  4. Yes it easy and very common to fake a dereg cert, only the last 2 time the car has been deregistered are recorded and what dealers have been doing is winding back the kms and then registering and deregistering the car twice in order to make the kms all line up

    Digging up an old thread.

Brett, if the above is the case, and if a seller/dealer/whoever says the car was not bought at auction, what other checks can you do?

Getting a dereg certificate from the likes of JOC would be pointless and a waste of money, if they're already supplying one with the car, and you're simply going to get the same thing.

  5. 100k seems more legit compared to some being offered for sale around the country.

I've been to see about 4 here in Syd, and even with export certificates you can tell the k's aren't legitimate.

I saw one with a certificate, 2008 model, exp cert had last 2 reg checks in japan, last one was 2 years ago and the car today had only 10000 more k's.

This car had less than 60ks on the clock, but the seatbelt wouldn't retract easily by itself.

Its not a big thing, but I've had Nissans with close to 200ks and no issue with the belts.

Its little things like this that give it away for me.

Giving myself another month or so to find one locally, otherwise will be importing.

As for price, depends on the overall condition. Have been following the auctions for a while, and an 08 manual can still go for anywhere between $23k to $33k landed and complied depending on the condition. Autos for a type S seem to be sitting around low $20k's for a decent one.

  6. Hey all.

Has anyone driven both a type P and type S/SP coupe and have thoughts on the difference?

Of course theres the brakes, but more interested in the ride. Is it that much softer in the type P that all the sportiness is gone or is it almost impossible to tell?

The brakes are an easy bolt on upgrade so not to fussed that they didnt come with the akebono callipers but keen to hear any other thoughts on the differences.

  7. Been browsing the for sale sites for a while now, and seriously don't think there is a car with a bigger spread in price for essentially the exact same car as there is for the V36 Coupe

Yeah i know there are some changes from an 07 to a 2012 model, and yes there are different variants, but they are largely the same car.

There are SP coupes for sale in the mid to late 20s, and then you get dealers who may been dropped at birth, with adds like this.

Basically asking the same money as an Aus Delivered Infiniti Coupe can be had for, but you get the honour of having a car with double the k's and features that don't work.

Is anyone seriously buying an imported V36 Coupe for over 40k?

Anyway, mini rant over, just annoyed at having my phone alert me there's a new coupe for sale, and then i see $44k!

  8. And the racing was pretty awesome across the whole 6 hours. Take note Bernie, this is how you set up interesting racing!

Love the fact that you can approach the same category with such different cars.

  9. I actually haven't bought it from here in Aus.

Back when i was looking for it, i actually got a user on G35Driver forums in the US to buy me a heap of stuff and she sent it over as Zaino would not ship to Australia.

I think there's a few distributors here now though.

Just do a Google search for it in Aus

Let us know if you find some as I'm due for more :)
