It is a bit of a shame Motec left the GPR packages quite basic considering how powerful they are, it sells the platform very short.  You really shouldn't have to change to an Emtron to get what you need from it - though I love how well sorted Emtron are out of the box.   Just for interest if you (not sure if you meant developing a custom package, or getting a pre-existing one) or others didn't know, there is a GT-R package for the Motec M1 which is very very capable: https://powertune.com.au/2019/07/12/m1-nissan-skyline-32-34-gtr-rb26-package/

Car sounds like it is going very very well, and I agree with the Dragy - we have a couple and have used them for similar testing/tuning.  I look forward to seeing how it goes once you hit the strip :)

I made contact with a package developer and after a lot emails and thinking it definitely didnt fit my budget or time frames. Would've hated to be at the track and required tweaking. A right click on a axis sounded way easier to me lol

Engine is close to being finished ill post pictures of that soon. Once i get that back full steam ahead.

    Update?

Sorry been slack on the updates unfortunately. Lots of changes since i last posted. Ecu change, tuner change, added a second nitrous kit, a few more sensors and chased converter setups all year. Ran it hard for around 10 roll race meetings at no less than 1000hp and as much as 1400 with all the nitrous. We were using these roll race events to iron out bugs and evaluate changes to transmission and torque converter setup all while having alot of fun doing passenger rides and racing door to door. She still hasn't been down the strip as i felt the converter combination wasn't quite where i wanted it to be.

End of 2018 we removed the M150 as the GPR software was strangling us and we consider going down the custom firmware route but decided a Emtron would do everything we wanted right out of the box so i repined the wiring harness and have absolutely loved the change. The car made 1100 at the hubs on about 35psi on the 7685 Gen 1. With the progressive direct port kit 1340 on the same 35psi. We pulled the engine mid last year to do a bearing check and upgrade the turbo but after much thinking decided the cast block would be on borrowed time where we were headed so we gave it a new set of bearings and sold the complete short to a mate for his project. The money from the sold short engine has funded a new billet 3.2 combination that's going together currently. New turbo is a GTX55 91mm on a 6boost manifold.

One device we found very handy was the performance meter Dragy, it made tracking changes to suspension, tyre pressure, tune very easy. Even with 4 x 275/60 radial pro's power management is a absolute must on a slippery track. With no nitrous completely untested setup we were doing 100-200kmh mid to high 3's, suspension tweaks and tyre pressure dropped to around 3.30's, 125hp Single nozzle nitrous kit around 3.15's, no passenger just over 3's then with direct port kit and more suspension tweaks just under 2.70. As a example a mates barra VL ran 2.99 on a 8.12 170mph pass so we were pretty happy with our result on a non prep'd surface.

Fingers crossed ill have a engine to install in the coming month and hopefully keep this thread updated with a few new pics and some info.

  3. Unknown history apparently came from a damaged car no visible damage. Advertising for a mate. If you're thinking about doing a gearbox build this would be ideal. Pm me for his details. $4500. Location Gold Coast

  4. Before the last tuning session finished the nitrous system and fitted the new turbosmart valve. Much better quality than the precision item.

With only a 40hp jet picked up 150hp through the mid range. :17_heart_eyes:

    Car is looking tough!

where did you get those coils from?

    got any details on specs?

    Thanks mate.

The coil pack bracket came from rips nz but there's other kits available now that are made locally which will do a similar job that don't require a CDI unit and are cheaper. Check out Godzilla motor sports they do a nice kit. My coils are CBR Honda coils.

Where are you at with this Rig Ryan? Had any test runs yet?

Just got the car back from Motec today actually I had them setting up the PDM, Dash, Can pad and all the driver switches. Its a slow process with a 4&1 roster working away but I've got a few dates in the next 5-6 weeks set aside on RNR for some initial testing.

Thats awesome!! Have you run a pass yet?

No passes yet had some wiring changes that i really wanted to do before it hits the track which has just been completed.

Great build, what's the rips glide conversion roughly worth?

You'll have to contact RIPS as the price would've changed since i purchased this kit as the US to AU $ has changed substantially.

Also i was able to finish off the shock travel sensors ready for some testing very soon. :15_yum:

Saw your video on Facebook from JHH looks good man! and I hear you went down to the PT76mm?

Are you happy with JHH work?  They are currently quoting my RD block build.

You'll be happy with their work mate ive been a customer there for 15years & IMO one of if not the best engine shops in OZ .

Yep on my smaller turbo atm I'm pretty happy with 1100 at only 35psi for now.

Has this been tuned yet or shakedown?

No shakedown yet but we had it on the dyno last week made just over 1000hp 32psi on a dynapack. Couldn't finish the tuning as the precision blow off valve wouldn't hold boost worth a damn. Waiting on the new turbosmart power port blowoff to arrive then back to the dyno.

  10. About 3 years ago one of Nizpro's customers ("Steve" with an FG) went through various upgrade stages and eventually ended up with an EFR8374 with T3 internally gated housing on the stock exhaust manifold which he went 9s at just over 140mph with - in a full interior FG Turbo Falcon.  He then upgraded to an EFR9180 and ended up running ~9.4s and trapped as high as 150mph with it, from memory.  He now runs twin EFR7163s and has trapped near 160mph.

Hmmmm, yep people do and peak power is one of the parameters people like to compare. Regardless, these sound pretty awesome through the mid-range and through transition.

The above is a good example of a well sorted combination using all the power efficiently, fast shifting gearbox with good gear ratios, great power band, no lag and no driver error. Horsepower and weight is only two parts of the equation XGTRX. Carry on thinking a dyno figure and weight MUST = MPH :ermm:

A car set up for and running an open T4 turbo from the brand they are dealers for (Precision) then they get a divided T4 turbo and put it on the same open manifold, somehow that turbo still makes >700whp and spools better than the Precision despite god knows what awesome stuff happens when the gases suddenly meet a brick shaped fork in it's path.

    Somewhat BS comparison.

If you want the actual facts of that comparison there posted in the above thread unfortunately it requires a account to access the page.

The manifold is a copy of a HKS T4 divided single wastegate. In the above thread people complained about the HKS manifold not being a true divided design with twin wastegates so SP racing carried out further testing of the same turbos comparing a true twin scroll dual wastegate fullrace setup against the HKS manifold.

Make up your own minds with the facts available.

  12. That barra engine wasnt in a skyline with skyline diff ratios and had an extra 400+ kg to move.

Both of those things together make a big difference.

XGTRX thinks if you make X horsepower on a dyno you MUST run Y MPH down the strip or your telling lies about dyno figures. Don't confuse him with diff ratio's and weight which might effect the outcome

  13. It's not exactly easy, you'd be better just getting a set of -9 or stock front covers like I did for my gtx2860s.

I'm not sure the gain will justify it, but I am sure there will be a small gain

If anyone needs custom turbo work done the guy who owns the cars I posted results on works for MTQ in Brisbane and will happily make it happen. Ask for Rossco.
