Skyline Maintenance + Tips And Tricks
ozshogun replied to ozshogun's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Thanks heaps for the 'good-oil' on oil. Today I got in touch with a mechanic in Canberra who was rated very highly by everyone in this forum. He was saying exactly the same thing. The oil is expensive, but as you say, most likely worth every cent. Cheers for the notice on National Museum Amaru. Is there a 'Skyline club' or similar here in Canberra? I would be keen to have some regular catch-ups and make some new contacts. -

Yeah, I can feel it grinding when moving up and down through the gears. When the vehicle is cold it feels alot worse. -
Skyline Maintenance + Tips And Tricks

Sure, I do have a few queries: - How often should they be serviced? - What is "boosting" all about - I have heard this one on here quite alot - I suspect the clutch might need replacing i.e. especially when cold, you can really feel the cogs etc when changing gears. Could this be a clutch or gearbox issue (or even both) Thanks Oz -

Hi I have purchased a Skyine R33 GTST 1996 Series II from Sydney on the weekend, and while it hurts me to say, I honestly have no idea about maintanence schedules, modifications, best places for insurance, any tips and tricks and god-knows what else is known in running a Skyline. I was hoping to draw on the experience of you guys to guide me here a little. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Oz

G'day I'm interested but the problem is I'm located in NSW. The price you're asking is on-par with what I'm seeing elsewhere - give or take a few hundred $$ depending on exact condition and kms. If there's anything you can do regarding transfer from Vic to NSW let me know and perhaps we can do something next weekend. Also curious about service history (here and before import). Cheers.

Interested in trade on other vehicles? -
I'm looking to buy a lowish km Skyline GTS-T 1995/1996 model. If you're interested in a trade + cash I have a Commodore Acclaim 2000 VTII, low kms, air, steer, auto, tint, CD, traction control, tow bar, cruise, power windows, 9 months NSW rego. The commodore is my family's secondary car and my wife uses it for work/shopping etc. I am located in Canberra but am prepared to travel to Syd or Melb for serious seller.

Harris Technology in Fyshwick is very good. From my experience, they stock the gear that other mainstream stores (like Harvey Norman etc) don't yet have. Their website is www.ht.com.au and prices are better than most. I work in the IT industry and agree that it pays to know your price and shop around. Most of the computer stores in canberra want your business and are happy to negotiate. Unlike alot of other IT people, I've tended to stay away from the computer markets. It's luck as to whether or not you may end up with some dodgy stuff and it's not worth it for the sake of a few bucks. And as mentioned, it's easy to visit a mainstream retailer and negotiate a price. The obvious bonus there is that you how to find the store again and can get a replacement or refund if the product fails.
