  3. The DR30 has gone to Victoria and judging by a photo I saw on the Classic Skylines Facebook page it looks like it is also being loved by its new owner.

Re focusing my attention to a track car I bought his Series 1 RX7. Everything has been thrown at it from a serious 13B turbo, microtech with digi dash, Series 5 box, Hilux diff, Series 6 brakes, wilwood brake proportioning valve, new cooling, intercooler, coilovers, cage, harnesses blah blah blah ...all engineered too. Paint is average but it is rust free and straight.

Front suspension needs some fine tuning but otherwise so far so good. Just need some time now to actually get some real track time.

    Picture attached.

  4. I occasionally used to get an orange warning light on the DR30 when cold that looked like a carousel. I was told once it was a charging light but I am now not so sure. Does anyone know what it is? Just want to help out the new owner who is curious.

    cheers

  5. nice work!!! a quick sale is always a good one :-)

Hmm, dont know about quick...it has been for sale for a little while now. In the end I had 2 very keen parties but it has now been sold to SVD179 on the r31skylineclub forums...I am not sure if he is on here. My apologies to Union 76 on these forums. He was dead keen as well but ended up selling it to SVD179 as he was the first one seriously interested and sold his SVD Pulsar to get it.

Dennis, It is going to Victoria this Wednesday. Steve is going to fly up and drive it back. Good thing it is my Skyline he is driving back to Victoria as I know it will make the trip with ease, as for my old TR8, I wouldnt recommend a trip beyond Wakefield...

    Now for my next project

  6. Every now and then I hop on Carsales to see if there's any DR30's for sale. I ummed and arred last time you had it advertised and didn't contact you because I didn't have a dedicated garage space for a classic car to live. I'm still in the same boat now but my mrs and I are getting our house ready to sell so hopefully when we buy our next place there will be room for a nice classic like this. I'll contact you in a few months if it hasn't sold and if my circumstances allow the car purchase.

Please don't sell it to someone who doesn't have a garage or intends to drive it as their daily. ;)

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 interested parties at the moment (one more serious than the other) but both need to move their current machinery before they can commit. I can assure you that the one closest to selling their car and moving on mine will garage it and keep it as his Sunday drive.

If and when it sells I will let everyone know so the suspenseful torture is kept to a minimum ;-)

    cheers

  7. Was an awsome day even tho it felt like it was 35 deg in the shade :)

Would encourage everyone to come along next year, there was only 1 C10, 1 C110 sedan, (looked good and was packin a turbo L6 ) my lonely old C210 and a hand full of various R30's.

Here's a couple of mine from this album---> All Datsun Day 2010

    Cheers Dan

I took the DR out for a few hours in the morning but it looks like I missed that photographer. There are a few of mine on japannostalgiccar.

It was a good day albeit bloody hot in the tar carpark. I had to take the kids to a birthday in the afternoon so unfortunately couldnt stay longer.

Loved your C210 Harvo, kept telling my kids I used to have one just like it in orange, everyone used to call it Jaffa. Except for the ever encroaching rust it was a great car. Sold it for $1500.00!

  8. so true, hence the attention i get a cruises with the orange beast.

Bit like the attention I got yesterday when I took my machine out. Got a big thumbs up from a HSV driver...hmm strange!

Hit me with some genuine offers people. I would like to move this in the near future so I can get my track car.

    cheers

  9. The only Steve I can think of is Ravenoak. He has a grey DR30 for sale with 57000k on the dial and he is looking for about $15000.00 for his car. He would cry if he found out how much I was recently offered for his old car, now one of my PNV's, because it was a lot more than he wants for his DR.

    D

No crying here D, you have done a great job bringing it back to its former glory. Although it was in good nick with me you have taken it to a higher level after a few years of other less than caring owners.

Take the offer, I am kicking myself now I didnt take the $20k I got offered in 2007 after it won best classic in the SAU Sydney show.

In any event all my tears flowed out long ago when I think what my old XY GT and SLR5000 would now be worth....

  10. Bit hard to be a classic original with a full leather re trim?

    D

Always stirring the pot D, it is MORE like a classic original than a power queen. The retrim is in original colours and the leather replaces the black fabric..the red inserts are still fabric. ;-)

  11. Very nice car there mate

    Good luck with the sale?

Has it had any dyno runs for power figures?

No dyno runs. It would be producing slightly more than stock with the catback exhaust but it is more a classic original rather than an out and out power queen. I must say in the 5 years I have owned the car it has been 100% reliable, a lot more than can be said for my now departed TR8 :P

  12. I have this in the classified section as well. I know I risk the wrath of the moderators but I figure I would get a better response in the classic section.

    http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/19...ey-t322024.html

Been umming and aahing about the sale for a long time now but I have found a nice road regoed track car I am hoping to move on shortly. I have needed to move from 3 to 2 cars. I sold my TR8 but the DR is way too nice for a track car and I miss my track time.

Well listen to cash offers around $13k.

  13. Cant answer that question, only that they do & I tried to discuss a spare tyre and they say that's part of the car, but I couldn't convince them so I'm picking it up and having a holiday for a couple of days. Feast on some local seafood and imported beverage.

    D

It is all to do with insurance coverage (particularly public liability) for the transport company. Insurers hate unknown risks so the policy issued to the transport company does not cover items that are not part of the car. They have to procure excess insurance coverage if there are additional items, hence the increased cost and administrative hassle.

  14. 106 cars at the Show 'n' Shine on the Saturday and 60 track starters.

If Ravenoak is talking about the black C110 coupe, in my opinion it should have got "Car of the Show" but there was no such prize or plaque, which should be corrected in 2012 along with other STAND OUT anomalies.

    The classes were Prince, "Pre 1986" and then R31, HR31, R31GTS/SVD, R32, R33, R34 and Others.

Plaques were awarded to Winner & Runner Up for Standard & Modified to EVERY class except pre 1986?

There were 8+ R30 variants plus 2 C110's yet only 2 plaques and both of those were for STANDARD vehicles.

Can't help but notice the bias towards R31 variants???????

Maybe in 2012 we could have MR, HR, DR and Bastard in all variants???

The best R30 standard class was my factory version KHR30 Paul Newman Version and it was the best standard variant in the show and not just by my opinion.

Runner up was Rob Ward's MR30 sedan, with dedicated LPG, turbo, Haltek ignition, 17 inch wheels, commodore front brakes, disc brake conversion rears and 205+ Kw at the wheels.

    Standard????????? You work it out!

But! There were only 2 awards for all pre 1986 variants and no modified class, so runner up had to go somewhere.

If there was a modified class, the black C110 would have won hands down, lay down mizzaire and should have gone on to win best car of show, BUT IT DIDN'T?

Nice work and congrats Dennis. Good to see my old Paul Newman getting the love it deserves after a few less than careful owners.

So where is the 2012 nationals? Please tell me it is not in WA...
