Yeah was planing to anyway, after you factor in the costs of oils/new bolts that can't be reused and time/labour and the fact box is already out it's just easier to spend the cash and do it all in one go Keep seeing the ad on tv, looks the goods

So got the gearbox out, clutch also has 5mm play so the cause is looking like a common dmf failure Was changing clutch anyway so no big deal about knowing it's f**ked though

new ones are 10 speed? wtf yeah no point. Never going to deny that the Jap's over engineered things But for what I use my car for golf is fine, and manual is stronger than the dsg especially when cars tuned haha in my situation that may be called for but how many f**ked dsgs I hear about mine is a minuscule case compared to them

Big reason I stayed away from DSG they are notorious for shitting themselves. It's more uncommon for a manual, but with my torque being heaps more than standard it could have been a factor although the Darkside Developments car runs fine with 320bhp on normal box, so who knows what really caused it

Yeah it's very rare to be bitten, but there are cases and I guess depends on each persons reaction to it also hahaha

Torque blew out the bearing and it's more cost effective to replace the gearbox then replace the bearing, also chance gear may be bent slightly so cost would be even more. got a quote on 2nd hand box for $1500 new box is $6k well $5k with trade discount It's a 06 model and has 140xxxk's on it, it's not exactly new and the extra torque doesn't help it's false that they don't bite, they can and make you nauseous from it
