  1. No your not the only auto redliner. I dont usually like to fang it while in auto as it hesitates on the limiter waiting to change. Usually I have to lift the throttle to get it to kick up a gear, but then you're off the power. Enter tiptronic...lately I pretty much throw it straight into tiptronic and use the steering wheel paddles (the lever is a bit of a useless tool except in TV ads to make it look like your going fast). This way it seems to change when I want and yes, it 's great for slowing down on the gears around town and keeping the exhaust burbling in that sweet spot at 2500-3000.

If there is a down side the paddles it is mid corner when the wheel's udside down.

  2. Unfortunately for me part of the deal to convince the Minister for finance that the S2 was a good buy after the demise of the Cressida was that, if I bought a fast car I wouldnt spend any extra making it go faster.

I think she knew I was lying..but still, the 3inch cat back and the boost controller and the boost gauge were all free so technically I'm in the clear.

Anyhow the point of all this is that there is probably not much chance of me ever seeing innards of my RB25 let alone a massive T4 snail hanging off the side, so if you could post up more photos inside and out that would be smashing.

I've used up all the tissues, bring me a bucket for the drool.

P.S. And dont forget to get wide angle shots of the crap lying around your shed in the background...I love a good squizz at other peoples sheds.

  3. can anyone with an s2 rs four s (manual) (ie comes with 17" rims standard) check their placard on the drivers side door jamb to see the specs including offset and width of the original rims.

I've only got an S2 2wd and the drivers door placard looks exactly like the photo further back in this thread. The car came with a users manual from JPNZ covering WC34 models - 2 and 4wd. It's tyre chart looks like this

    Tyre Rim Size PCD OFFSET

    195 / 65R 15 91S

    15 X 6JJ

    205 / 60R 15 91H

    15 X 6.5JJ 114.3mm x 5 holes 40 mm

    205 / 55R 16 89V 16 X 7JJ

dont know if this is any help - it makes no mention of 17' rims

  4. Do the electric seats have memories?

If they did, they are probably thinking, OOh heck no, here comes that fat.....

Seriously folks, if my kids could talk they would agree, being in the back seat is sic...fully sic. They look pretty chuffed though, sitting up in their maxiriders. And with those tints, just think of the money I've saved on Baby Bans.

I have almost got the 2y.o. to say "HOON"

For me the most depressing thing about those silver handles in the boot is that I cant use them...damn maxiriders. But that electric boot closer....ooh baby, silky smooth. If I ever slam it by mistake I have to open it again and let it self close, just to watch it.

P.S. Not being greedy, but no one else drives it unless their carrying a 22K bank cheque. I havent quite swallowed on the insurance premium yet.

  5. chin up ol' chap. Sufficient for the day are the sufferings thereof. Tomorrow may be better.

However head lift doesnt augur well for a quick installation. You piston cant come up too far unless you've doen some wierd stuff to the con rods. Dont have any specs on what your valve lift should be. Sounds like the timing is way out. I'd be checking the timing marks on the cam in relation to your crank

  6. Humble - I see you're a new convert to the club. The stuff in some of these threads makes for a good read - fortunately I was on Hols when I found it and spent two full days going back over the old stuff. (Beats building the fence...so what, if the kids keep running out onto the road!) I haven't worked out how to navigate the site effieciently yet, which is why I have no photos attached, or philosophical quotes at the bottom of my signature yet. And sometimes the topic headings arent necessarily indicative off what's inside.

What am I writing this reply for??? oh yeah, Ernie

His home is on the corner of Kingston Road and Evergreen Ave. Not far from Logan Hyperdome Shopping Centre. Only 5 minutes off the GoldCoast Highway.

Cant find his mobile at the moment, but I maybe down his way getting a photo copy of his workshop manual this weekend.

He is very easy going and if you dont try and screw him over he tends to give you extra stuff like for me I got the baby seat that was in the car, a timing belt, a rear spoiler and a 3 inch cat back exhaust.

  7. Got the same idiosyncrasy (sic) on mine after I installed a Powerup MBC. It spikes to 11psi when you stab the fun flipper then it settles back to 10.

An R33 mate reckons it is b/c of the length of tube running to the MBC is too long and turbo is overboosting ( as per my setting ) before the MBC registers and actuates the wastegate.

Dont know if this is true or not, but it doesnt seem to worry it at all and I havent popped any hoses yet.

But it is all the more reason for me to get that Jaycar IEBC sooner then later.

  8. Dude, dont think, just buy.

You'll never look back, except at the Commodores disappearing in your rearview mirror.

They're great even when completely stock. I know a bit of prepurchase research is important but this car does not come with any negative cognitive disonance - and to think I did 3 years of Uni to know that that means.

If you're in Brissy looking at 'God with us' S2 then give Ernie at Nizmo Imports a call on 3868 1496, he'll happy to show you a few.

  9. That reminds me of a related topic...

... I was doing some research on tyre pressures when I found a WRX guy running 40 PSI even though the door placard read 32psi. Apparently Subaru changed there specs a few years back to keep up with current tyre technology but never changed the stickers.

What pressure should I be running?

My tyres are stock as per the door sticker - 205/55 R16 89V

  10. Ditto to the aforementioned comments. Between the wife, the stagea and me it is a sordid love triangle.

So far the best thing about living in Gumpie land is that I'm the only who has that warm fuzzy feeling and hope to have it all (the warm fuzzies) to myself for a while yet. Only two Gumpieites have said "hey, love your Volv..!!" Even my mad R33 mate with 300+KW is livid because the Stagea is so driveable. As the promo goes, "Luxury, Sporty yet functional".

Living on a major road I see a lot of cars drive by and I can't help but laugh to myself, thinking "you paid $50,000+ for that Clubby and you're only just getting the options my car came with standard 5 years ago! And I only paid 22!"

Often when I kiss my wife goodbye as I go to work I look past her at the Stagea and think..."you know you've made the right choice."

  11. I am not sure what a GFB unit looks like, but on my 'Powerup MBC' I followed the instructions and had the same problem of not getting more then the standard boost. After stuffing around for a while connecting different hoses, I eventually took the MBC off and blew through the nipples while opening and shutting the valve, only to find that it worked the opposite way to the instructions. So if you blow thru the right connector you will feel a variation as you open and shut the valve and if you blow thru the wrong end it will have the same level of restriction no matter what position the valve is in.

My motor is a NEO and it has a three way T piece (with no built in restrictions): 1 - pressure in. 2- exit to the wastegate and 3 - exit to the solenoid. This 3rd hose going into the solenoid then has another hose going to the air intake pipe - this seems to me to be how the system controls the amount of pressure the wastegate sees by bleeding it off thru the solenoid. So all I did was pull the two pipes off the solenoid and attach them to the MBC (only opposite to the factory instructions) as per my blow test and whammo - variable boost.

  12. Saw a silver rs4 on loganlee rd this afternoon.

I _think_ he lives around the same area I do, he has ajm motorsport sticker on the back.

Ernie from Nizmo Imports lives just off Loganlea Rd and he usually has 4 - 6 stageas or V35's in his back yard. So it could be him.
