  1. As the titles says I am thinking of buying a new daily driver that would also do monthly sprints at qld raceway\hopefully lakeside. The two cars I am tossing up between is a R32 GTS-T and a mid 90's MX5.

With 10k spent on either cars engine\brakes\suspension which car would "generally" be quicker around a track?

I have done a little research on the MX5 and on paper its specs seem pretty good (never driven one). 950kg, 50\50 weight distribution, double wishbone suspension with the only downfall being its lack of power. Although apparently the 1.8L models can handle a GT25 turbo and make up to 200 - 250rwhp on the standard engine. Coupled with its lightweight and a decent brake setup would a R32 GTS-T with 10k of mods stand a chance?

  2. Mate if I were you I would just do bolt ons with supporting mods and go for 400rwhp. With a correctly sized turbo it shouldn't be "that" laggy.

My mate is putting a rb26 into his r32 and going single turbo at the same time. He's budgeting somewhere between "10 - 15k" and he is doing alot of the work himself, and in the end he is still limited to about 450-500hp because the engine will still be stock.

  3. I've got just as many ignorant v8 loving mates as I have ignorant turbo loving mates. It is good though when you meet someone from the "other side" that can respect your car for what it is.

I have taken a few of my v8 loving mates for a ride in my new "hairdressers" car.. they have changed their perspective somewhat :D

  4. ^^ Ahhh I see

I just thought that it was odd because he said that if someone had money to do more he would recommend they change the clutch and/or injectors thought he was refering to replacing the stock items :(

    You would be right..

The Amuse supra did NOT have 600hp. It was probably closer to 400rwhp. It still ran stock fuel system and clutch. The Amuse GT30 Turbine kit bolts onto the factory exhaust manifold as far as I am aware.

I want to have a similar car one day but with a 35R and around 500rwhp. Just need to learn how to drive first :D

  5. Around the mountains my mates R33 GTS-T is pretty much on par with my car. He has a power fc, high flowed turbo, boost controller, front mount, full exhaust, 700cc injectors & 044 pump etc. Think it dynoed around 280rwhp but its only had a quick tune.

    I have a $30 turbotech boost controller and a cat-back exhaust :(

Will be interesting once his car is fully tuned though.

Damn I love turbo imports haha. Honestly though for the price you pay for a GTS-T I can't really think of much to match it. Best value import IMO.

  6. the idea to begin with was to compare the 33 gtst vs. N/A supra

unfortunately i wasnt clear enough about what i was referring to and a lot of people thought i was talking about a GTST vs. TT supra

Well in that case they are very similar, I live with 3 mates that all have skylines while me and another mate have supras. My mates non turbo auto was about 1 car length slower than my other mates r33 gts-t both stock. Once you start modding the skyline though the gap gets wider.

Don't know why your arguing though, they are both great cars as are most turbo cars from japan. Should be giving the holdens and fords crap not your brothers from the land of the rising sun >_<
