  1. Hey guys and gals,

Just got a tank full of Shell's V POWER and I don't know whether the cold night air is doing wonders or the new fuel is actually quite good. Apparently, this fuel was developed and used extensively in Europe on Ferraris and other exotics and is only recently appearing in petrol stations here in QLD at least....try it next time and tell us what you think.

    Cheers

    Kwei

  2. Hi all,

I am seriously in the market for a mint R34 GTR. I currently am leaning towards buying one locally in Australia unless other owners suggest otherwise as it is alot of money that I would rather have something to show for asap rather then wait weeks/months etc.

Just need some advice on what to look for, recommendations etc?

I live in Darwin and previously had a R33 GTR and loved it but, now it is time to step u to the plate.

Yeah, Go the Vspec....looks meaner.....sounds better....more words to describe your ride when u say R34 VSPEC!

I've got a Gunmetal coloured VSpec.......Bayside Blue is cool and I've seen a few floating around.....but Gunmetal is the next blue....it's a little bit different.

  3. i used 2L of genuine coolant from nissan to replace all in my GTR block , radiator and hoses. Make sure u use green coolant. and just use the genuine. if ur too cheap to use a $12.50 per Litre bottle of coolant. then ur prob too cheap to own a Skyline. its gonna be an expensive piece of work.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Just flushed the system and gone 50\50 Geniune Nissan green stuff and demineralised water..............only the best will do!

  4. Hey boyz and girls,

Just wanna get an opinion on types of coolant to use in a GTR. Any particular brands that are good? what ratio mixture should be used?............just want to make sure that coolant types are not detrimental to coolant lines, seals, pumps etc...

Got a mate who recently had coolant changed and was using a 50/50 mixture but car had a syrong coolant smell after the drive................is that normal?

    Cheers.

  5. Sorry guys I cant make this one. I shattered a bearing inside the front dif witch in turn shattered the gear pin witch in turn pushed back at high speed and shattered a gear then the gear teeth sheared off and took the front gear and after all that the lot dropped to the bottom of my front wheel drive that is apparently magnetic 0_o and did no more damage witch the fella said was what saved me from having to replace the main gear and the turning gear.

In the end he said the resin this happened was because the gear old I was running * RED LINE Light shock proof * was the corse of the bearing shattering in the first place

I am happy now at least I know what that bloody sound is and it wont be driving me crazy anymore

Bad luck mate, I saw your car on the hoist...ORO33 right?. Yeah, know the bloke fixing your car..even joked about taking my 34 front diff to put in yours. Tough looking 33...I'm sure he'll get in on the road before you know it.

  6. Long story short -

    1. car spluttering / not running smoothly when cruising in 4th gear @ 2800rpm (after 20 mins of driving / car warm) plus leaky injectors were getting really bad.

    2. next day melted a coil.

    3. changed all the injectors & replaced the coil - all good again.

    4. took it for a drive today - same problem after the car is warm ... revs fine and goes hard still anytime but when im cruisin the car jumps back and fourth a little and runs all crappy.

ok ... so its not the injectors, could be one of the other coils but i just wanted to know if the airflow meters would be affected by heat ? ive only just put on a set of hks airpods and ive noticed all the piping and the outside of the airpods were really hot after i come home, just wanna know if this could be the problem or perhaps an 02 sensor ? but yea the car runs perfect untill its warmed up ... then it just wont cruise nicely :)

    Thanks

    Max

Mate, I had similar problems, would only notice it when car is hot or being driven for a while. No doubt leaking injectors etc would contribute in your case.

Had my car checked out with a fault code finder and air flow meters were both on their way out...not completely f#%ed yet but was told would eventually die. Both of them!!!....reading different voltages above and sometimes below the norm.

Had both replace..expensive exercise and now car is running fine...no more jumpimg back and forth and lossing power.

As for the heat towards the AFM, I was told the crank case ventilation with hot engine oil mixing with air being redirected back through the air inlet causes this contamination in the air inlet and sometimes or over time the oil/heat can affect the AFMS. Recommeded an oil catch can setup to eliminate this contamination.

Oh yes, my 02 sensors weren't spot on either but was told this should not affect the driving of the car to the extend of not responding to the throttle when this happens and I would loss fuel injector signals. AFM stuffing up, telling the car that no air is coming in so fuel supply stops momentarily...car runs crap, jerks back and fourth for a few seconds, sometimes longer and then picks up again. I could actually see no fuel signal on the multi display screen when this happens.

Anyway, just something I've experienced and was told by my mechanic....that's my 2cents.

    Good Luck

  7. Can anybody please tell me wether Autorforce, Logan Road, Eight Mile Plains in Brisbane still exists I bought my car there last year and can't seem to get in contact with them.

    Any help would be great.

Mate, the owner, Kevin has sold up and now concentrating on bodykits instead. His cars are now scattered in other yards for sale such as the Morooka Auto Shop and others. His bodykit business is the MOnkey Warehouse brand...look it up...you'll find it....or contact Don at DMD !

  8. Hey Fellas....got a problem...need some assistance pls

I drive a r34 gtt which goes sweet but....a few nights ago i started the car at night and turn my headlights on and the car stalled.....wtf??? now it happens all the time

i had my headlight bulbs changed a few weeks prior cause they blew....eletrician checked but could not find fault..someone mentioned to me it could be your alternator draining all the power when u swith heallights on.

if you had this problem on any skyline can you lend us some advice as i dont want to pay big $$$$s

    cheers

Mate, I had the same problem with my GTT. You didn't wet the engine bay recently?.....I noticed mine showing this problem and if you keep an eye on your volt meter, you will see a sharp drop when this happens...sometimes dangerous whilst driving when you switch the head lights on or to highbeam!...noticed that volt meter drop as well when brake pedal is pressed or electric windows put down.

It is normal for alternator to use a bit of power when you use the electricals but not to the extend that the volt drops to stalling point.

I had my alarm guy inspect the wiring and he replaced a few connectors here and there and the problem went away. Also check your coils...they can be causing the problem as well , let's hope it's not the alternator or you will need a rebuilt.

Ps...also had to replace head light bulbs as they blew.

    Good luck.

  9. Last night i was driving home and all of the sudden when i put my foot down to rev up 3rd gear the engine started to shudder like it was about to run out of gas (the was half a tank of gas in the car). The problem continued for a little bit, i was able to drive home by keeping the rev's under 3000rpm. I rev'd out 2nd gear a few times on the way back home, and everything seemed fine.

Yesterday i took the atmo bov off and connected the standard plumback setup back on, so not sure whether that has anything to do with it.

Also on the odd occasion, when i'm driving i'll put my foot down on the gas and for a split second theres the slightest of hesitation before the engine starts to rev up. Almost like one plug is fouled up.

Any ideas of where to start?

Mate, I had similar problems.....the car would be fine during th drive and on the odd occassion, it would shudder and would not respond to the throttle. I've got a multi display screen in car and I can see when this happens, there is no fuel injection at all! Had it checked out and it appeared that the AFM sensor had fouled up due to oil mist build up from the K&N panel filter....at least that's what I've been told...had that cleaned up and problem seem to be gone.

  10. I have a jet black aftermarket rear wing for $50...good condition...Was on my black series 1 r33 GTST but opted for a gtr wing instead.....wing is kinda like the that of the factory Supra.....just sitting in garage collecting dust for about a year.

Also have factory side mount R33 intercooler and pipes, standard airbox and snorkel and aftermkt BOV, I think AVO brand or siomething like that which was removed to make way for HKS SS BOV.....some come getr them!!

PM if interested........giveway at low low prices. I am in Ipswich area.

    Cheers,

    Kwei

  11. I've searched trying to find an answer to this question as well because i've got the same turbos, but from everything i've been able to find the general consensus is that the wheels are ceramic.

Yeah, I put this question to a few turbo workshops and some said to be sure...the dump pipes from the turbos be removed to inspect the wheels....fancy doing that!

  12. Guys, I have a black r 33 rear wing to give away for $50 or just give me a price....had it siting in the garage for about a yr now so come take it....good condition, jet black in colour.

was on my gtst but i prefered the gtr rear wing at the time so off it came and was left in the garage since then.

i'm in queensland....ipswich area. PM if interested.

    Cheers,

    Kwei

PS...also have R33 side mount intercooler, original air box with snorkle...intercooler piping and sockets and a aftermarket BOV i removed from the car to replace with a HKS SS BOV.

  13. was following a silver r34 gtr v spec from acacia ridge going into inala thru to ipswich motorway and i turned off at goodna,

not even a goodbye wave after those 15 minutes we were together ;)

by the way im having serious problems with serial non-wavers which was brought up here along time ago, how dare they not wave!!!!!!!

    Apologies there, dale82au!

I had in the back seat a very discontent child and my attention was on her and getting home quick!. I did see you in the rear vision....huge intercooler with no front bar right? I thought you would overtake me at some stage but you took your exit....so I'm sure there'll be next time...definite waves when that time comes around!

  14. Thanks guys

Well im offically in the market now, and boy am I excited. Will be contacting a few people/places this week.

The goal is a 2000 or newer V spec in yellow. But yellow seems to be a bit harder to get - so will probably end up with blue.

Thanks again for all your advice guys.

    Let the games begin

    Daniel

Dan, I own a late model 99 GTR 34 VSPEC, gunmental grey and understandably have been babying the car after spending the kind of money on one. I am thinking of selling the car due to increase pressure for wife esp after birth of second child.....damn it's a tough world!!!

Anyway , I bought the car from a good mate who imported the VSPEC himself from japan. I remembered the excitement as well as the waiting game he went through so when he wanted to sell, I knew I was onto a winning. Full history books, manuals, servicing docs came with the car and it had only 20000kms. This was back in 2004. I have had the car for about 6 months and enjoyed every drive.

Xenons, BLITZ BOOST controller in cabin, HKS t/timer, 3.5 inch full stainless exhaust with dump pipes, K& N panel filter...that's it...everything else standard.

PM me if interested as I am trying to delay advertising it as long as possible or otherwise goodluck with your quest...it's a whole new feeling to own a R34 GTR!!!!

    Regards,

    David

    PS. I'm in Queensland.

  15. I would be in to meet up somewhere in brissy as im located in brissy... ^_^

Suggestion: Do the brissy boys and gals wanna meet up at Milton Maccas early...I've been down to the BPs at Morayfield from Brisbane in the last cruise so I'll be going past Milton on the way up to the coast....let me know of a suitable time and I'll stop.

  16. They are just doing their job.

After just resigning from 3 years of service with the QPS, there are some really good cops out there, but their are some bad ones as well. Just think if you went to work and then ended up having to find a dead body in a house (been locked up in the heat for 2 days) I was told by one copper that this is the worst thing he's come across. The smell, the flies, the everything.... It's a tough job, and they are tough people to get out and do that job.

There are different departments within the QPS, one of them being the STTF. Just like theirs the JAB, CIB, Prostitution Bureau and many more. We normally don't hear about any of these things because they are normally involved in court cases and underage people.

What ever is going to get the QPS the best public publicity, and recognition, they are going to do it.

That's well said, Erin. Just be wary of imitation coppers though.....sounds like too many varieties of cars for the budget.....definitely some XR6 turbos around...with personalised plates.
