Though it isn’t set to make its official world debut until this September’s 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, the new 2012 BMW M5 has hit the Internet by way of a leaked report and is already striking terror in the hearts of AMG and RS fans all around the globe. That’s because the latest generation F10 bruiser comes packing a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 developing 552 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.

Purists may miss the high-rev V-10 of the E60 M5, but the new force-fed V-8 should prove to be much more usable. Its peak torque, yes all 510 pound-feet of twist, arrives at just 1,500 rpm.

This is directly reflected in performance, with the 2012 BMW M5 accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 4.4 seconds versus the previous car’s 4.7 second time. The 0-124 mph run, meanwhile, will take you 13 seconds.

Note that these acceleration figures are with a seven-speed M-DCT dual clutch transmission. A conventional six-speed manual is almost certain to be offered in the U.S. market given the prototypes spotted recently.

Top speed will remain at an electronically limited 155 mph, however an M-Drivers-Package is said to be available, which will lift top speed to a reported 189 mph.

Other details mentioned in the leaked report include an Active M-Differential with torque vectoring between the rear wheels, 20-inch light alloy wheels and a sub-8 minute Nurburgring lap time.

While the car’s official world debut isn’t set to occur until September, the new 2012 BMW M5 will reportedly make an appearance at the M Festival at the Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance race in Germany on June 23.

Car looks pretty rough, must have been a bad one.

We’ve reported on plenty of supercar crashes in the past but apart from a few egos, and possibly wallets, being hurt, everyone is generally okay in the end.

This time we’re sad to report that a 31-year old German man suffered a fatal crash in a Nissan GT-R while going around a dangerous curve in the Eppan region of Italy. Another 14 people in the bus he collided with were also injured, with everything from small cuts and abrasions to cervical trauma being reported.

From the amount of damage inflicted on the front-end of his dark grey GT-R it’s safe to assume the driver must have been traveling at some speed when the accident occurred. It took rescuers hours to free the driver from the mangled mess but he was already dead by the time they got to him.

Stories like this once again highlight the important fact that high-speed driving should be reserved for track days only and not public roads, no matter your skill level--real or perceived--behind the wheel.

We’re happy to report that rapper Fabolous, a.k.a. John David Jackson, is the proud owner of a new Aston Martin Rapide sedan. He was spotted in New Jersey recently visiting his local barber shop and we managed to scoop these images of his new ride, which reportedly cost him around $250,000.

In a previous sighting, somewhere in Manhattan it appears, Fabolous gives us a few details about the Aston Martin Rapide and even some helpful advice. It certainly is one car that you could describe as ‘Ghetto Fabolous’.

Thanks to Garden State Jewelers for sending in the images.

  4. http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1052337_beyonce-buys-jay-z-bugatti-veyron-for-41st-birthday

While most of us would be lucky to get a new pair of socks or maybe even a car care kit for our birthdays, rapper Jay-Z has been given a $2 million Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport for his 41st birthday by his lovely wife Beyonce Knowles.

Jay-Z, who celebrated his birthday on December 4, is said to have been thrilled with the present, despite already having one of the most extensive car collections in the country. Some of the cars he’s fortunate enough to own the keys to include a Maybach 62S, a Ferrari F430 Spider and a Pagani Zonda Roadster.

Considering that money is probably no option for the well-to-do couple--they were recently named the highest-earning couple in entertainment, beating the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and David and Victoria Beckham--you'd have to wonder why Beyonce didn’t spring for the more exclusive Veyron Super Sport.

The answer to that is simple: Even for the Veyron Grand Sport, she had to order the car a full year in advance to ensure it would be ready in time Jay-Z’s birthday. Ah, the lifestyles of the rich and famous…

You can check out what it will be like for Jay-Z to drive his Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in our own drive report here.

So jealous right now.. although i don't think i would like it much if my wife bought me a car.

  5. Damn that's harsh. I wish Holden would focus on making the Commodore the long-wheelbase model and introduce a smaller rear-wheel drive sedan on the same platform. It would be an Aussie 3-series and shit all over front drivers like the Mazda6, Accord and Camry. A V-8 model would be M3/C63 material.
