  1. Still can't find the edit button so appologies for clogging the sale threads. All is now SOLD!
  2. Motec still available and price is negotiable of course! Cheers, Jason
  3. Well its either too late or I'm just plain technically challenge, but I cannot find the edit post button... Anyhow the powerglide package is now SOLD!!! Cheers, Jason
  4. Hi Guys, I have a Moted M4 ecu which has been upgraded to Pro along the way meaning data logging and traction control etc is all active. It was doing ignition control, data logging, water meth control, and boost control on my blow through carb twin turbo chev powered HQ. An ecu with a carburretor fed motor - yep you read it right. I bought it initially to put on a VL Turbo commodore and got rid of the car before the built 25/30 made its way in. Since the motec had all the capabilities I needed to keep my boosted V8 under control and was sitting on the shelf I used it... The ecu was second hand when I purchased it so I sent it off to Masterson Motorsport in Brisbane for a checkup where it got a clean bill of health and they confirmed at that time the pro features were indeed activated. Comes with 3 bar MAP sensor and the big dollar Motec PC connect cable. There is also a somewhat cutup loom which came with the ecu when I purchased it which I was led to believe came off an RB Nissan of some breed. It can be used to rob for plugs etc and there are 3 bosch ignitor modules in there as well. Check the pics out. Location: Rockhampton Qld 4700 Price: $1400 Contact: Jason either on this forum or mob 0438154499 Shipping within Australia by registered post included in the price if you arn't trying to thieve it off me... NEXT... I have a Chev Powerglide and 3800rpm Hi Stall from my turbo small block for sale. The glide has TCI transbrake valve body, aftermarket input shaft (see pics I cannot remember the brand...), cast alloy deep pan, dual ring servo piston, and the usual stuff done for a 1200hp box. The convertor is a Convertor Shop 3800rpm anti ballooning furnace brazed big dollar unit. With the turbo 350 cube sbc it went around 2700rpm on the pathetic foot braking ability of a HQ holden and around 5000rpm wound up on boost on the transbrake. We had no issues with slip in the top end or such with 1000hp to the track. Also comes with the pictured scatter shield. This box was run for aound eleven race meetings with the horsepower winding up from 700hp to the track to the last one putting down 1000hp. The local transmission guy said at a quick look inside part way through that it would need a full rebuild at season end due to heat stress from turbo use. There was no undue metal or debris however stuff was turning blue from heat stress apparently. I'm taking a break and building another car to make better use of the horsepower and will use a lenco next time so this tranny is for sale. It's cheap because I don't want anyone angry at me because they find it needs a full rebuild when it is pulled down... Location: Rockhampton Qld 4700 Price: $1200 Contact: Jason either on this forum or mob 0438154499 Freight is the buyers responsibility however I can assist the buyer by packaging the goodies on a pallet for transport and will happily drop it at any of the local freight depots if required.

  6. Going back 10 (no make that 11 ) years when I was still a teenager a bloke in his thirty's reconed he used to have success by jumping out of his car fast enough to reach the cops window before they had a chance to move and ask how he could help. Not being one to pass up a challenge I found with a little practice (dont get me started on all that practice... cops...) that I could pull my car into a parking space, on handbrake, off key, ditch seatbelt and launch out of my car arriving at the cops window just as they were finishing their own parking manouver! Now 9 times out of 10 when I looked down into that window and asked how I could help that there copper stuttered and stammered something bout a random breath test and got on his way as soon as possible I havnt tried it in years cos last time I was smart to a cop he pulled his gun on me and I didnt get out of the cop station for several hours
  7. Lets just hope the GTR doesnt make the trip home as hand luggage like so many other exotics over the years...! Will be good to see one put through its paces in a good pair of hands
  8. On a similarish (if thats a word...) note I was in Vanuatu early last year and it was amazing how the major car manufacturers dont give a proverbial rats about safety and comfort if it isnt legislated! Try a brand new twin cab toyota hilux for example. 14 inch rims with piddly tyres Fixed position bench seat Non retracting seat belts No airbags No adjustable steering colum Steering colum has no impact collapse No air conditioning just a fan (just brilliant in a tropical climate driving round in the rain with fogged windscreen). I've forgotten the full list of non existent safety and comfort accessories but the crowning balls kick is the Aus $35,000 price tag!!!
  9. Here is a bit of info straight off the web. This comes from the following link: Exesive Motorsports From contact on another forum with one of the organisers this is the first of a series of US style Streetcar shootout events. The prizemoney looks good, as does the opportunity for any competitor on the day to win the ute! I will be doing my best to have the HQ finished, and would love to line up beside a few of you guys! BRING IT ON!
  10. Just in case anyone else checks this thread for an answer... My mate limped his R32 RB20det over to my house tonight with a 2000rpm rev limiter. We found after checking AFM, Throttle position sensor, and cooler piping etc that it was an Air Fuel gauge had been wired in real dodgy! Disconected the dodgy wire from where someone had spliced it just near the ECU and all is well again! Cheers
  11. LMAO @ the nitrous debate! A few people touched on the correct understanding of the product. Slip introduced the very helpful concept of 'supercharging'. Supercharging as we commonly know it has 3 sub classes: 1) The old school GM 6/71 blower and its huge varitey of spinoffs, 2) the turbocharger, and 3)nitrous oxide. Of these, the blower and turbo are both forced induction (FI), while nitrous oxide is chemical supercharging. All 3 forms of supercharging have one and only one purpose in mind... Give the engine more oxygen. The more oxygen an engine can take into the cylinder each intake cycle the more fuel can (and must) be added to burn with it. The turbo and blower compress normal air with an oxygen content of 21% by 1, 2 or even more times its original volume and stuff it into the cylinder allowing you to use your chosen method (EFI/carbies/?) of introducing a matching ratio of fuel. Nitrous of around 33% oxygen, being stored under pressure as a liquid, changes rapidly back to gas once introduced to the intake tract. This action chills the rest of the intake charge also, hence making it far more dense than before, hence even more room for more air and nitrous exists! Once again simply add the correct amount of fuel to burn with all that extra oxygen!
  12. I used to use toluene as octane booster in a 11.5/1 comp 308 streeter. 1) Benefits: No pinging with a 15% ratio mixed with premium. Can be obtained at very good rates for 200L. 2) Downsides: Will only last for a day or two in the tank before evaporating/going off. I learnt to mix only the amount I could use on a saturday night / the drags etc cos if it sat for a week the poor donk would ping its head off like the toluene had never been there in the first place! Running at more than 30% seemed to have negative performance effects on my N/A engine. This could very well be simply that too much of a good thing is bad! That is to say that because octane is a rating of how fast a fuel burns, and the higher the number the slower the burn i.e. 110 burns slower than 91, you should only ever use just enough octane booster to prevent engine damage! Higher octane fuel will NOT turn a daily driver into a race car (oxygenated fuels like Methanol with a higher energy content are slightly different). Back in the day when avgas was still decently high octane I did a comparison down the drag strip with my 15 sec celica. Ran a couple of runs on a 1/4 tank of normal leaded, then filled up with avgas for the money runs... We lost almost a second and a good handful of MPH... At a 50% ratio I once tried, the engine had lost a lot of low down response. This was in part due to the above, but also because toluene is much lighter than petroleum and therefore used in large enough quantities will lean out the engine if no further corrective action is taken. My conclusions are that toluene is a GREAT octane booster when used with a minimalistic approach. Use just enough to prevent detonation and engine damage, and dont leave the brew sit for more than a couple of days. My 2 cents worth... Steps down from soap box
