  1. My exhaust might have a small leak where it connects with the v-band clamp.

It has now started to have an erratic idle when warmed up. Boost gauge bounces up and down a small bit (0.1bar up and down)

This thing is driving me mad. I dont want to take it to one of the three tuners in my country because i dont trust them.

Any help on what causes an erratic idle.

    I have checked:

    Fuel pressure-ok

    cas-ok

afm-tested voltage increase as you blow air through it-ok

    wasted spark setup-ok

new ngk plugs heat range 6

    walbro pump-ok

    no sensor faults on pfc

  2. I have just finished putting a hx35/40 onto my rb25/30. When I had the standard turbo on the afr at idle and up through the map was pretty good.

All I did was change the turbo and now the afr is fairly lean (idle at 15.9 and comming on boost about 14.0).

I thought the airflow meter would read more airflow and adjust the fueling accordinly but it seems asthough I will have to adjust it all through the rev range.

Does this sound right, will it give lean readings just by changing the turbo. I know I will have to map it but ithought fuel was added relative to how much airflow was.

What is the best way to adjust the whole map, rescale the airflow voltage or increase injector %.

I have all supporting mods but a standard r33 airflow meter.

  3. I'm also at about the same point as you, only my holset has a hx40 compressor and a hc1 turbine (same as hx35 without the internal wastegate).

The spacer I need for the manifold is 40mm thick. I was going to make a spacer with a piece of steam pipe in the middle to fit a wastegate, but it is just too tight.

It will however fit with the 40mm spacer and I will weld a steam pipe elbow to the turbine housing.

Has anyone got any good links for the welding of mild steel to cast, whats best tig, stick, maybe oxy-acet).

Best of luck with the internal gate mate and I hope it will keep boost regulated properly, if it dosen't you can always weld to the exhaust housing and do an external gate like I'm doing.

  4. I finished building me rb25/30 and put it in my r33gtst. Then i wrote it off by hitting a pole.

So now it resides in a c34 laurel.

My problem is I think I am getting excess oil pressure through the turbo oil drain. I teed into it for the vct oil return.

Is it possible that oil could be filling back up as far as the turbo.

I have a bit of a leek around the bottom of the turbo where the oil drain is fitted and this is the only solution I have.

    All help and advice welcome.

(need to get it on the road soon!!!!!!)

  5. Its very hard to get a petrol wiring loom in Ireland as the laurel is very rare. I have ben looking at the other plug at the ecu in the laurel, this is the one that supplies info to the instrument cluster. I'm not 100% sure yet if the rb25det loom has the same check engine, temp wires etc. It could be possible that these pinouts on the connector will match. I have to try and trace them.

  6. Looking for some help on doing this conversion as there is very little info in Ireland on these.

I have a crashed r33 with an rb30det in my yard and a c34 rd28. All the info about the r33 wiring and ecu pinouts I have.

It's the c34 rd28 wiring I need help with (mainly the ecu pinouts to the instrument cluster).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry double post

  8. I have recently insttalled a set of deatchwerks injectors along with some other mods and the car is getting no fuel. I have fuel as far as the fuel rail but nothing is coming through the injectors or at least i don't think so.

Can anyone see a problem with the inlets on the injectors in the picture. The inlet on the new injector seems to be lower down the body of the injector.

  9. 1.26 neg is nothing to worry about. if you are having trouble with the car wanting to steer itself all over the road, then i would be looking at toe settings.

Seems a bit better since i got it tracked on ssaturday. What sort of toe settings would be suitable for a road gtst. Also does the car have to be running to set the tracking, (i now have a hicas light coming on).

Thanks for all the help so far.

  10. Just a quick question, if pineapples are fitted to the rear of an r33, will it upset the rear camber at all. I'm having lots of problems setting up camber and tracking and i'm looking for the best setup at the best price. Also I live in Ireland and the roads are full of holes and sheep and goats,

  11. Ive just installed a series one power fc (the one with rb25det on the case). When i turn on the ignition i get a fault with the throttle the engine check light also comes on, it is ok with the standard ecu but not with the power fc. I also have an active lsd in my car. Could it be a conflict with the tps wire for the active lsd. Any help greatly appreciated.

Ps my avcr gives a throttle error with the power fc but not with the standard ecu.

Problem sorted, bit of a dodgey connection.
