Over the past six weeks I have been without my line and it has been pure HELL!!! I have been driving a range of other cars from VX commondores to Pulsars Anyway I have come to realize just how addicted I am to the skyline. I cannot see myself ever being able to drive a normal (non-performance) car such as a Holden or Ford. Do you guys feel the same way or is a car just a car? I came across a thread by Zdenko about getting a V8 SS and most of you guys had a similar opinion to mine about this. Well anyway can you do away with your Skyline?

My car came with a monstor tacho but I don’t wana take it out because they are worth so much. I bought a small auto meter boost gauge to go with it. The boost gauge is good but the tacho is just a waste of space and is really the ultimate toss item. There quite easy to install and the boost gauge is a very worth while addition even if it does cost about $150 with the mounting bracket

Hmm I guess the guys that painted it could put it on … its not very hard … the guys at UPI did mine and they did a good job.

Thanx … I got mine professionally sprayed and I believe the whole engine is back together. I might be seeing it on Monday. I was more interested in seeing pictures of those who have already painted their engine!

Just wondering but does anyone here have a dressed up engine bay or have painted their engine? Whenever you read an Import magazine every car has a painted engine and I recon it looks very nice. Never really thought of doing it before but I am currently going through a turbo/engine rebuild so I decided since its already in pieces why not paint it. Anyway I was just wondering it anyone here has painted there engine and if they have a pic or two?

Firstly I did not read most off the above posts, but anyway I do not have insurance on my 33. If you really want the security of having insurance, you should probably pay top dollar ASAP. Because the longer you wait the more it may cost. Initially this was not my theory but since getting my line I have got one speeding fine , loss of license for a month, a few P plate fines and so on. So my insurance not that I could get it would be astronomical.

Yeah Sierra I would say ... do not know much about them really. I paid $1800 for the high flow on one of my previous turbos that shat itself.

Hey guys I am also sort of near ATP (about 10mins), I just got them to high-flowed my turbo. They machined 6mm out of the turbo housing and replaced the two stock turbines with Sera turbines. I think they were Sera anyway … well they are frickin huge compared to the stock ones and I am told my car should make 250rwkw’s now no worries. I also just ordered a Trust Cooler from Japan and the engine is currently being built. My car is down at ProPaintworks getting a re-spray and hopefully in about 10days the car will be at Race Pace getting tuned. If you guys go on a cruise I would love to meet up with you all...

The engine still starts and there is no smoke … looks like a new engine is going to be in order. What would you expect to pay for a new engine with some internal work?

I was just about ready to drop a front mount cooler in my GTS-t and get a new turbo because my current turbo is stuffed but that is another story ... Yesterday I was crusin down the Frankston Freeway for about five minutes when I noticed some smoke coming from the engine bay!!! Of course that is never good so I pulled over to see what had shit itself. Anyway, oil was everywhere and the dipstick had shot out of the engine I checked the oil level and proceeded to limp the car home. I made it home however the cars not running so well as you would expect. Naturally I have not driven it again and will be taking it to the guys I imported it off on Monday. Anyway, the car vibrates a lot now and the exhaust is making an inconsistent idling sound so I am assuming the engine is wasted ;( Ahh well I do not know much about this stuff so I will let the pro’s take care of it. I was just wondering if anyone has seen this happen before ... and how much I can expect to be up for? Thanx - Steve

Hi SS8_Gohan, Glad you liked the site Both Dent and I went through UPI (Ultimate Performance Imports). They are in Moorabbin and I would recommend you use their services! However, if you do know someone that will help you all the way for free then that is going to be hard to beat. But will this guy comply the car and all that crap for you? I personally do not know much about cars (I just like to drive them), so when importing a Skyline (which is my first car) I did not really know how to go about it. Lucky for me Dent was also looking at getting a car and he had a lot more experience. Anyway, we went to UPI and spoke to Dean who then did the rest. Dean is a helpful guy and pretty much took care of the whole thing for me. I just had to sign the odd paper here and there. Well it will be a difficult decision either way but its worth paying to insure that it is all being taken care of I recon. I had a few problems with my GTS-t on arrival but Dean sorted them all out for me ... cost me a few more $$$ but she runs well now I got the car for $12500 in Japan and it cost me another $7500 to get it to Australia, complied and on the road. Sadly, I needed a new clutch, suspension and there are quite a few scratches that still need to be fixed. But all is well because I scored a sun roof, nice rims, good rubber, big exhaust, great body kit, monster tacho, and nicely tinted windows All up I was happy with the car!
