Try earthing it in a different place, sometimes if u earth it in a certain spot you can get engine noise (yes the amp earthing) may be a good idea to check FAQ's at www.caraudioaustralia.com

Nitto 555R's are THE best you can get, no doubt. All the big names use them, especially Veilside. However, as far as i know they're not actually legal in Australia, so therefore you'd have to have connections to get hold of some. They're the best semi-slick to get, if you can get hold of them.

Check the earthing, and it may also be due to the power cable. RCA's may also be crap.
