Ants i love your coil cover ae. did you make it yourself?
Yea mate pretty straight forward really.. just wanted something a little different
cheers

So did you remove everything from the engine bay including the brake booster and brake lines, then just cover up the steering rack etc during painting.
Also, did you just sand back the original paint for preparation.
Im looking at doing this next year.
Shaun.
I masked up brake booster and lines. Removed everything else. Covered rack like you said. Yep all sanded back, primed then painted including clear.
Def worth doing mate, your engine looks awesome by the way!

I'd give my left nut to have a nice freshly painted white engine bay. Mine engine bay paint has gone all chalky.
Ha ha yea had to do clutch, cam belt and a few other things so decided to rip the whole lot out and do it properly. I actually thought it was pretty clean till we got the motor out...

Gave engine bay a bit of a freshen up...

Just wondereing if anyone is running their A/F Meter in blow through configuration?
Interested to know what results have been?

I modded my plenum to front facing and have had no probs at all. My engine makes 280 rwkw with no hassles at all.
-
some insane engines in here.
antsrb25 how are u getting away with the afm being that close?!?!
Havent had any problems with at all mate.
Also no issues with the modified plenum either. Making around 280rwkw with no problems.

What Turbonetics turbo is that?
Not 100% sure, we think it is a T 60/T3 Hybrid. Has .63 rear

Yeah I'm not doing it for response reasons etc, it is purely a piping issue (twincam 30 in a 32 and putting a high mount 35r on) and having a nice flowing plenum will enable better gains in the future when I wind the boost right up
I won't be able to fit the high mount with my current piping arrangement and doing something like the 120deg inlet pipe is out of the question (already rubbing slightly on the timing belt cover so increased height there is a no-no).
A forward facing plenum would cure ALL of my pipework rubbing issues (it's even rubbing on the manifold slightly) and allow me room to high mount the 35R. A side benefit would be the reduced pipework and extra breathing capacity when I decide I want to push 400rwkw+
However, I am very sceptical of the limited ebay items and while the plazmaman item seems to be a proven design, the $1k price tag would be eating into the budget somewhere
Here is my modded factory plenum modded to front facing. It is on a 25 not a 20 but you get the idea. Hasnt made a huge deal of difference to drivability. I would say a fraction more responsive than the stock setup. Pretty easy to do and not that expesive!

No sorry, Jeff (The Speed Lab) does all my tuning, so you'd have to call him up and ask for a copy of the map, either way he'd be able to help you out. Number is in my sig
No worries man, I am in NZ! ha ha
Hopefully i can achieve a similar sort of result to what you got. Well done bro.
By the way how did you do about your VCT control? I have made my own controller which allows me to set on and off points. Seems to work well.
-
yes still R32 ecu, no probs with that at all. still got knock control, perfect idle and cruise, cant complain!
Awesome man!
You dont happen to have a copy of your .BIN file do you mate that we could use as a atarting point for my tune?

my results.... 283 rwkw!
been a LONG day and just about every thing that could go wrong, did go wrong... Got there at 10 and i left at 430 lol... poor Jeff had his work cut out for him but the result is an amazing 283 rwkw's with 11.5 AFR's, 20 psi boost (ouchy i know... overboost issues) and the surprise is... still stock injectors!!!!! Using a malpassi rising rate FPR which bumps the rail pressure up a bit.
started off making 240 rwkw straight out the box... no tune etc, then we hooked up the fuel flow/pressure tester to set up the malpassi... found that the flow was dropping right off as soon as you load it up...the pressure was there but the flow was dying off.
Got a walbro in there atm, which is rated to 500 hp didnt think this would be the prob, but after checking voltages, and changing the fuel filter which was dirty as f**k (looks to be the orig japanese filter) the bullet was bit and a Bosch motorsport was put in, did a few more dyno runs after Jeff changed all the settings and it started going from 250, 260, 270 rwkw after each change... incredible stuff!
boost is spiking to 20psi and theres dick all i can do about it atm.. even with the gate flap held open it stil goes to 1 bar ish. I know a lot of people have had overboosting issues with the GT3037r as they have a tiny wastegate flap, however mine has the much larger flapper and a different rear housing (.71AR) so not sure whats going on there, its not the dump pipe as the flap is opening right out so i think the only thing i can do is to bore out the gate port some more. or external gate.
i also snapped the wastegate actuator arm.... more dicking around on the dyno, umm few other littler things went wrong lol had cooler pipes pop off every 2nd run... fixing that right now, just got home and waiting for the car to cool down lol.
All in all, jeff is tops, turbo tune blokes are awesome, and 25's with 20psi bloody PULL HAAAAAAAAARD!
Hey Simon
Are you still running a the R32 ECU or did you move to a power FC? I am just in the process of tuning my 25 with a 32 ecu also.
Cheers Ants

Are you running the factory blow valve to atmosphere? Are you sure it is not leaking up above 10-12 psi?
-
I use a micro switch on the throttle body of my S2 RB25 connected to pin 54. When TB closed switch is armed. I had the same problem of high idle when I first connected the 32 ecu. This switch fixed the problem.

I know what you mean about the polishing!
I rewired as much as possible to try and keep everything tidy... less wires the better i reakon.
