yeah this was actually a bit of a problem. when i took it to get pre purchase tested at the RACV i specifically asked about it and they say the minor modifications that are on it do not increase power at all. but when i buy it i am taking it to an independent place and getting them to check it as well, if it increases power i will have it removed and put a stock one on and if if doesn't then i will get them to produce a document saying it doesn't that i can keep in my glove box for when those nosey police pool me over. i found it on www.carpoint.com.au and purchased it for 13k just had my hazzard perception today and got 83%

thank you very much for the tips. i think i am willing to splash out a little more on the speakers & installation to get a really good sounding system. your set up sounds nice. i know i could probably follow a tutorial and do it myself but if i stuffed something up id never forgive myself. hows the space in your boot?
-
i dont know a thing about speakers/head units/wires/fuses etc (strathfield or jb hi fi will be my best friends in this department) i have about 800 bucks i wanna spend on speakers & installations into a skyline r33 series 2 i have about 500 bucks i wanna spend on a head unit a couple of months down the track (there is already a new one installed) whats the best set up that i should be looking at for about this price. and i would like to try (if possible) have enough boot space for a school bag. any ideas? should i be spending more?

im doing mine this friday, anyone whos done it recently got any tips/comments. i heard mixed messages. people say its hard but they all get like 90% on it
-
i am confused, that says you cant drive a R33 on your p plates but i see them all the time :S
-
no i am not a current p plater. i am 17 turning 18 on the 3rd of july this year if the muffler modification does not add power then there is no reason i see that i should not be able to get car.
-
i just messaged the guy about the car. he said its only the muffler that is modified not the exhaust, does anyone know if this helps me or does this also increase power?
-
i can picture in 20 years time when i have kids, and they grow up and there is a designated p plate cate for all drivers between 18-21 and its a tuned down toyota yarris which is locked down to not go over 95kmph
-
*sigh* well i guess any hope of joining the skyline community is gone. haha im sure ill see you guys in a few years once im off my p's and driving my dream car.
-
it says an "engine" that has been modified, does that include exhaust :'( my dream is fading guys
-
well yeah thats my problem. it says that they are compiling a list . but it comes out on the day the new laws come in which is ridiculous as i wanna buy a skyline BEFORE the list will be compiled. and i can see me buying it, the list coming out with my car on it. and me been stuck with a skyline i cant drive and an empty bank account.

These are the laws that will be coming in if you obtain your licence AFTER july 1st 2007 (you can confirm this at the following link) http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Licens...werVehicles.htm From 1 July 2007, new restrictions on driving high powered vehicles will be introduced for probationary licence drivers who obtain their licence from 1 July 2007. From this date a probationary licence holder will not be able to drive a vehicle if it has: An engine of eight or more cylinders; a turbocharged or supercharged engine (except diesel powered vehicles); an engine that has been modified to increase its performance; and/or certain high performance six cylinder cars. An official list of nominated vehicles will be published on this website from 1 July 2007. In the interim it is expected to include the following vehicles:the BMW M and M3, Nissan 350Z, Porsche (all models), and Mercedes Benz SLK350. Vehicles which are excluded from these restrictions are: Turbocharged or supercharged diesel powered vehicles (without engine performance modifications); all models of the Smart car, produced by Mercedes Benz; and nominated vehicles with low powered turbocharged or supercharged engines. These vehicles include the following vehicles:Suzuki Cappucino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 cylinder 689cc, and Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible 4 cylinder 659 cc. The current power to weight restrictions will continue to apply for drivers who obtain their probationary licences before 1 July 2007. If you want to buy a vehicle but you are unsure whether it has eight or more cylinders, or if it has a modified engine, or is either turbocharged or supercharged, or has any other features which would make it illegal for you to drive under the high powered vehicle restrictions, then your first step is to ask the car dealer who is selling the car. You could also contact the manufacturer directly for more information. If you are still unsure or doubt the information given, seek further advice from a licensed mechanic. Penalties From 1 July 2007, the penalty for driving a high powered vehicle will be three demerit points and a maximum fine of approximately $1100. These penalties will apply to both the current power to weight restrictions and the new high powered vehicles restrictions. I am very interested in this as i am buying a nissan R33 non turbo which according to this should be fine to drive. the power to weight ratio is 111.43 KW per Tonne now can someone please tell me if i am missing something here that for some reason will not let me drive this car p.s i get my licence on the 6th of july. if i buy a car this week, and then on the 1st of july the updated list says skyline r33 i will shoot everyone in my local vic roads office for screwing me around

thanks for the replies guys the reason i wanna import is because its a way of insuring low miles and a good condition engine. and as for the supra, i don't think a 2 seater will really suit my lifestyle. i plan to be driving passengers around most of the time. -
Hey guys, im new here. Its about a month till i turn 18 so i sat down with the parentals and discussed something that had been on my mind for a long time, a skyline :laughing-smiley-014: a good mate of dad can get them low k's, Imported from japan and fully complienced for about 12g as i am going for my p's on the 6th of july. the new laws that come in on the 1st are a massive slap in the face and means i cant have a turbo. so i guess i am just asking for opinions on if a non turbo r33 will still be a fun car to drive around in and about how much does a nice full body kit cost? thanks for your help
