The whole head deck including the radio only works for between 5 and 20 seconds. I was not very clear but what I meant was that for that 5-20 seconds when the unit is running the radio works fine, but then it shuts down. I hit the on button again and off it goes for a nother 5-20 seconds. I am starting to think that the head deck is thinking the ignition is turned off and is auto shutting down. But then that is a bit of an uneducated guess Thanks for the help so far, Nazgul.

I have the Tape/head Unit and Sony CD player (Original I think) in my 180SX. I turn on the head deck and it works for a random period between 5 and 20 seconds and then turns off. The CD player lights up when I turn on the car but also turns off a few seconds after I press any button on it. When on, the radio works fine, I have not been able to get the CD player producing any sound in the few seconds I have it on. I have double checked all the connections into the unit and they seem fine. It has me stumped. I am hoping some sound/auto electric guru's may be able to point me in the right direction.
