Sad to see the boat go as it is my pride and joy but I would now like to spend more time fishing offshore.

  2. Hi Guys,

Bumped into a bloke changing someones tyres on the side of the road the other day..... The guy had a full set-up in the back of a big van with tyre fitter, balancer snap-on compressor, tools ect ect.. Watched him do two of the wheels as I was intrigued with the concept.

Any one used something like this?

The dude gave me his URL ; http://www.gtyres.com.au/

Going to get them out to do the tyres on the old boys audi, see how they go

  3. the box tunnel is different to the auto. so man box wont fit straight in..

Tunnel is the same, fits easily.

    hand brake as well

Easy to get around, you need a hand brake mount out of a manual skyline and spot weld/rivet it onto your tunnel....

s2 man pedal box is different to s1 and wont just bolt in

You need R34 clutch master cylinder and pedal, it bolts right up ;-). take the boot of your auto brake pedal and grind it down and fit a r33 brake boot over when your done. Dont bother changing the brake pedal its a MASSIVE PAIN IN THE ASS

some thing to do with the awd censer not fitting right

Correct, depends which console you use but you'll need to move it slightly... its easy just put it out of the way

cred in perth was telling me i need a half cut to get body parts off to fit it all

i not want it to be doggy done but done good and right

Well if you dont want it done dodgy i wouldnt be taking it to CRED thats for sure!

I did mine myself on the shed floor on jackstands... Id never changed a clutch before and I didnt find it that hard, had minimal experience too as I was only 20 but I've always loved tinkering with stuff.

    Heres a thread I made ; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/331327-my-manual-conversion-findings/page__hl__manual+conversion

feel free to ask for any help, best bet is to PM as ill get an email cos I dont frequent SAU that much anymore.....

  6. Who ever told you its hard has rocks in their head....

I did the entire conversion in <24hrs at home on the axle stands.

PS Im 21 so not like i have decades in the industry or anything. Heck I'd never even seen a clutch before!

  7. Front diff is part of the sump, can't remove it sorry.

Easier option would be a RWD RB25 is my guess. Much easier task surely.

But drive shafts can be removed and have been. Assuming you have a series 2? other wise just pull the fuse.

Don't listen to this clown and just pull the fuse unless you want serious clutch pack damage...

  10. Ok well not knowing the true KM's of a car does play a bit part.... Who winds back a '99 car to under 80,000k's what do they think you are stupid or something?

We must also remember that at compliance ALL fluids and filters are MEANT to be changed.

In saying the above id be changing/replacing anything that will potentially cause catastrophic damage if it fails

    Therefore I'd replace the following:

    • Timing belt, idler , tensioner pulleys
    • Water Pump (its probably fine but while the belts of you might as well... ) yes change the goo at the same time

I'd be checking the levels and condition of the following fluids:

    • Coolant (its been two years, might as well replace)
    • Gear box oil, remove the filler plug on the side and check its level and colour
    • Front and rear diffs remove the filler plug on the side and check its level and colour
    • Transfer case, remove the filler plug on the side and check its level and colour
    • Ateesa fluid check its level and colour in rear boot compartment
    • Power steering check its level and colour
    • Brake and clutch fluid check its level and colour

Hows the fuel economy on the car? Is it miss firing or anything at all? Id consider replacing the 02 aswell as the fuel and air filter.

How can he tell that its the rear main leaking? Have you got under the car yourself with a torch to check this? Also when you are under there have a look at that CV boot and confirm its stuffed youll know pretty quickly as they make a hell of a mess

Make sure you gap those plugs to .8mm

Where in Syndey are you located? I happen to be there for a few days as of Friday.... What tools do you have?

  11. Firstly can I have some history on the car to determine why he recomends to change what.... How many K's are on it?

water pump <----- These things can last for well over 100,00k's

water pump gasket <------ Its more over a gasket goo than anything

coolant flush <------ How long ago was it done? Whats its colour and is it running hot?

gearbox oil <------ Once again colour and levels?

transfer case oil <------ Check colour and level then decided

rear diff oil <---- Recommending changing the rear diff oil but not the front, sounds like he really does know what hes on about :/

front outer CV boot <---- If its torn got onto that

rear main oil seal <------- May I ask why? is it leaking really bad or is he just jumping to conclusions that its leaking as where oil collects when these leak (at the bottom of the bellhousing) is the lowest point and many leaks will collect here making it look like a rear main seal issue...

brake and clutch fluid flush <------ Again check the colours and levels

rocker cover gasket <----- Try nipping up the screws on the outside and in the valley first?

spark plugs <------- For only $30 Why not? NGK BCPR7ES is your friend!

fuel filter <------ When was it last done

air filter <----- Hows it current condition?

wiper blades <----- Where are you located? Im in adelaide and just coming into summer I wouldnt bother till the start of next season as its not how often you use these that wears them out but the chemicals ect from cleaning your car that makes them go all brittle ect..

While your at it you might as well do power steering fluid, attessa reservior, O2 sensor maybe?
