  1. I have a good used RB26 Block that has been fitted in japan with 88mm forged pistons.

Was a good goer in a 200kw 32GTR until it developed a rattle in the bottom end (big end bearing).

I'm not super keen on big bore engines so built a new 86.5 engine.

The block has been hot-tanked and crack-tested - all good.

The bores are good, pistons/rings look good (not sure what brand, probably jap).

Could be a good find for someone on a budget.

    Take it away $400ono

  2. haha.....almost.......just still not quite clear in my mind, because I thought that if disconnecting it disabled 4wd there would be *zero* power going to the front, as opposed to *very little*.

But I guess that's near enough - thanks guys

True, disabling the 4wd means there is no electronic drive being sent to the front wheels.

But the 33/34's have a small amount of hydraulic preload in the system which sends some mech drive to the front wheels even when the torque gauge says zero.

That is why the front shaft should be removed on a 2wd dyno. (otherwise the transfer case gets very hot and kills the driveplates :0 )

This preload is enough to drive the AWD rollers but not transfer any substantial amount of power.

    cheers

  3. Hey I'm in the camp of people that would rather not take the risk, and am looking to upgrade.

However, after reading the FAQ/tutorial thing about the bosch 044, it is clear that it is far from a bolt-on upgrade. I have been looking at an alternative that will just "drop in" to the existing in-tank cradle setup (I would rather pay the extra and not worry about the hassle of modifying things or worrying about the hose etc)

So far I have identified the nismo pump, which is about $440 plus post; also there is a sard item sold by JJR that is $700 or something, allegedly that bolts in. My question is:

    1) can someone confirm the nismo item is a bolt in, no mods required (r32?) What about the sard?

    2) are there any others that are better priced and drop into the existing cradle?

Go the Nismo/Tomei drop in pump.

Its the easiest, most reliable pump replacement option.

  4. Don't beep at a cyclist or one day they might turn around and bite your face off. Your not as safe in a car as you think when you all have to stop at the next red light.

Don't drive the Yarra blvd as a short cut and expect not to see cyclist as it's very well known that is where many of them ride, Show some respect when driving in their known riding areas. Take it extra easy when overtaking them as it's not all about yourself.

If you ever hit one in your car, there is a good chance you will kill them. Not something to look lightly upon. Road rage is for people with small c@cks.

Cyclists are a road user same as cars, motocyclists, pedestrians etc. The public road system is for all road users. Respect the fact that your fellow human being is unprotected and give them the same/more respect as any other road user. As a regular cyclist, I see the unsolicited angst against cyclists all the time. There is no need for hero car drivers to brush past you with 3" clearance, blast the horn, rev limit your diesel and haze us in black smoke. So understandably we get upset as you are potentially trying TO KILL US !!

You might be just f**king around but it is the cyclist that will be in hospital or dead. Think about that a little.

Dont ever try this shit on me as if you happen to get caught at a red light...I'm dragging you out of your car and beating the @#$% out of you as a lesson.(about once a month on average and the heroes are invariably spineless cowards that whimper alot)

So chill and show the cyclists some respect, it may just be someone you know.

  5. You MUST drop the driveshaft for R33/R34 - otherwise you'll f**k the transfer case

Chill Ash, the OP stated it was an AWD dyno. :)

If you disable the 4wd by unplugging the g force sensor, it can make a better/more consistant number as very little drive is now sent to the front wheels.

It is more representative of how a GTR works in the real world. Excess power is sent to the front wheels only when the rears slip.

  6. The current owner of Ex Racepace R33GTR has to sell for business reasons.. :)

But his loss is your gain....

Heres your chance to purchase this amazing R33GTR.

  7. not much differance between the 2?

In the real world, there is virtually nothing seperating these 2 (-7 or -9) in terms of power. (both can top out north of 350rwkw)

If anything, the slightly "friendlier" comp wheel on the -7 may spool marginally better than the -9 (SS)...but it is almost too close to call.

You will get great results with either.

The GTSS do come with 1 bar actuators, as do -5s

However -7's come with 11lb actuators (as they are intended to be a bolt in std replacement) which are a bit lamo for the higher boost applications.

It is advisable to upgrade them to the 1 bar actuators if you intend to wind em up past 20lb

  8. Tomei dumps are 75mm so unless your front pipes are also 75mm(rare), they are a waste.

However we regularly see up to (and over) 400 rwkw with std dumps.

Have also done back to back tests at 360- 380rwkw with the ONLY change being the dumps and there was NO measurable difference.

We have done this test backwards and forwards several times now (fitting them and removing them, big pipes , little pipes) and again NO measurable difference.

Hard to believe as the std stuff looks like crap, but results are results.

On -7's and 300kw, its not even a consideration imo.

  9. "Super super conservative"

Um no.....you have detonated it to death.........

See the pic with the side of the piston eaten away....det does that, and yes generally on the intake side.

16 degs (altho it may sound low) can be way too much sometimes, it all depends on the individual engine/setup.

Some combos only cop single digits, while others love 25+...
