The parts (and hence invested dollars) are there...they just don't have the boxes assembled until an order is put through...
-
The Australian distributor is selling them for $16,190.
Some members around here can get trade discounts, too.
-
If I sell off my unneeded parts at the swap meet on Sunday...I am sure I can "self finance" it
-
It's tough enough to pay the $17K upfront for the box, and then wait 2-3 months before you get it....
Financing it....no chance.
I prefer to pay and get what you pay for right away. Unless the distributor can do a payment plan

It's all good, Paul. I was sold on the OS88 before. I like the fact that it is helical and quiet.
Does Bobby have the direct shifter kit also?
Let the group buy begin
-
yeah.....missed it on my phone. Yes, confusing with the unnecessary cut and pasting from the OS website.
Hmmmm....very tempting.
-
For the speed calculations, I used the spreadsheet from that UK GTR thread link you posted.
-
I'm liking the Option 2 ratios. Can always go to 4.375 diffs if needed.
Should have come past my place Paul...would have liked to see the OS88 first hand.

Does this have the standard ratios or optional?
-
So did the managers both deny that the gearbox was repaired or replaced?
-
I might just end up keeping this if no serious buyers take this off my hands in the next few weeks...
-
I assume you would have to push the clutch then shift down 4 times in succession quickly...
-
OS88 incar vids not loading...

should be 2876@110 with stock size GTR tyres. 2762 with my huge rubber.

Trust 6 speed dog box ratios are:
1st 2.782
2nd 1.938
3rd 1.506
4th 1.178
5th 0.920
6th 0.777 -
+1 for cruising <3k
6th on the trust is 2700@110
-
I hit 210 at eastern creek during Powercruise top of 4th gear
-
Don't have to use the R3C clutch...other options out there.
Good comparison, Paul. (Similar to what I had/have on a spreadsheet).
I also like the option 2 OS88 ratios. However, the "UK-spec" ratios are even better:
2.9966 (92kph)
2.05 0 (114kph)
1.521 (135kph)
1.210 (183kph)
1.000 (229kph)
0.784 (278kph)
-
Standard ratios are:
1st 2.609
2nd 1.934
3rd 1.521
4th 1.210
5th 1.000
6th 0.852Optional ratios are extra $$ and are:
Option 1: 2.609, 1.934, 1.521, 1.210, 1.000, 0.785
Option 2: 2.890, 1.981, 1.468, 1.174, 1.000, 0.757
Option 3: 2.516, 1.865, 1.468, 1.174, 1.000, 0.822 -
26 spline input (Holinger)

Oli, I may have missed it, but how do you know that the gearbox wasn't replaced or repaired?
Dealership could easily have bought a new box and replaced it for under $10K then sold it.
-
lol fatz.
I think the OS88 spline is different also. Can anyone confirm?
-
The price was similar to what Marcus quoted if you take into account addition of freight, taxes etc and then clutch ontop of that. (Approx $16K +/- dependent on forex rates). Good thing is that it is through the Aus distributor I just don't like the wait time lol
Forex has improved so should be cheaper now.
