  1. Thanks heaps guys. I got the car back yesterday and pulled the inlet plenum off today. the spot for them on the rb20 is just below the head but on the 30 block the spot was there but they were not drilled at all, although there was holes drilled and tapped directly below the undrilled spots (if that makes any sense) im hoping it wont cause any problems having them half way down the block???

  2. easy, take the rb25 knock sensors and screw them into the provisions on the rb30 block

Im pretty sure there weren't any spots for them on the 30 block. Just trying to find out if there is another way around it without tapping 2 new threads in the side of my block (I dont get the car back till saturday so I'll check the block again then. Thanks for the idea tho :) )

  3. Just wondering what other people have done about the knock sensors? As Im Running a standard ecu for now. I have a series 2 rb25 head on the rb30e block

any thanks would be greatly appreciated :P

  4. Don't count.

Line the exhaust cam gear up on its mark.

Line the inlet cam gear up on its mark.

Line the crank up on its mark.

    Put timing belt on.

    Turn crank over twice.

    Check marks.

If all marks still line up where they were originally, well done, job complete.

If they do not. Take timing belt off re align everything to their marks, start again putting belt on until after two turns of the crank, all of the timing marks line up.

This is the proper way to do them.

Sweet thanks, going out to the shed now to give it a go

  5. I need to fit my timing belt which is the 152 teeth dayco belt but not sure how many teeth to count between my timing marks so its not out by a tooth or 2

Im pretty sure I came across this info a while ago but do you think I can find it when I need it :)

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated :)

  6. friend is having trouble getting his harmonic balancer off a rb30 in a 1989 r31 skyline

its a 1 peice harmonic balancer

    whats the best way

    :D hi doug

just had the same prob with mine. If you have tried a rattle gun and it doesnt work get a big breaker bar and socket, park the car on the concrete, disconnect the coil lead and crank the engine a little bit at a time (better if there is 2 people so one can keep any eye on the bar while the other one cranks it). Mine came loose after about 7 cranks

If you already have the bolt out but cant get the balancer off go and buy a balancer puller they start from about $18 for a supercheap one but most dont come with the correct bolts for the balancer so just go to a nut and bolt place with a bolt that does fit and ask for some high tensile ones
