  1. Just another quick question.

Does it matter which computer i use? What i mean is that which computer i use wont affect the way the car is wired up?

I ask this because im thinking of using the rb25 computer so i can drive it to the tuners, and then get the RB20 remapped to suit.

  2. Yeah, use the RB 20 actuator. The RB25 actuator is set to something like 4psi.

There are a few differences with the turbos. A series 2 r33 turbo is the same as a series 1 r34 turbo. The both feture the nylon (i think thats the name for it) impeller wheel. Helps it to spool faster.

A series 2 r34 turbo has the same impeller wheel but has a OP6 rear housing. The rear housing is similer to the size of a VG30 turbo. You might see a little bit more lag with the bigger rear housing on the RB20.

  3. Its getting there...slowly.

New engine is still out. Iv been spending a lot of time cleaning and re-placing things in the engine bay. Looks SO clean now. Gotta love degreaser and K&H Wax and Grease remover!

I spend a good 8 hours today fixing up the sketchy ass holes that were cut for the cooler piping :) , but came up very nice.

Im going to get all the cooler piping powder coated black and use black silicon joiners. mmm stealth

Not too much more to go now, have replaced engine mounts, gearbox mounts, fuel filter and lines ect ect. Basically get the front end back together, neaten a few more things up and drop the engine in!!

Ill post up spme updated pics soon.

  4. Iv found someone to wire it up, Simon-R32. Hes done a few, and wires it up like a stock install. Cant wait! Going to use the 25 loom and Re-mapped RB20 ecu.

With the RB25 turbo actuator. There is the the line that comes off that actuator, and there was another one which connects to the stock cooler piping.

With the RB20 actuator, the line come off the actuator and returns back onto the turbo.

I wasn't sure where to connect the RB25 lines to. Also i have been told that if i use the RB25 actuator it will only make about 5psi.

  5. Great Write up!

I im the middle of this conversion and just have a few questions.

Instead of swaping the alternator over to the RB20 one, can i just use the RB25 one? Will it plug up fine with the RB20 loom and earths?

Just making sure. I use the RB20 temp sender and oil pressure sender on the RB25?

What is the Advantage/Difference of using a RB20 computer over a RB25 computer? Which ever one i use i plan to get it remapped.

Depending on which computer i use, will i still need to get the air con re-wired?

And i noticed on the RB25, coming off the actuator there is 2 vaccume hoses, which the RB20 doesnt have. Where do i commect these to?

    Any help IS appreciated!

    Cheers, Josh

Hey guys. Iv decided to sell my RB20DET from my r32 skyline. It is a strong engine and i have had no problems with it. Runs beautiful and starts every time. It has a R34 Neo Turbo fitted (Has a lighter impeller wheel to spool faster) and is making very good power on stock boost. Im guessing close to 200 killer wasps. It has been serviced regulary and i just changed the spark plugs. When the tubo was changed so were all the manifold studs and gaskits.

The engine will be left in the car untill a buyer is found, this is so the buyer can see and hear the car running and can also be taken for a drive.

The only thing that i can pick with it is the front seal is leaking slightlly. For an extra $160 i can provide a new front seal, water pump and gates high-peformance timing belt.

I will be keeping the ecu for my next engine. They are easy to find and are about $150.

If you have any questions dont hesitate to call.

    Cheers, Josh
