  1. :) street racing

    sorry to hear craig

How old were the tyres? How many kms?

Had a look at the photos, were they all Toyo Tranpath SR?

Might be able to sell/give away the other 3 for drifting/burnout practice.

I agree with you guys, No Bling. If your rims are fine just get some new tyres.

215/45/17 is a fairly common size now, hopefully be able to pick some up in town.

  2. Would have to agree with BK & Rexlr8. I have driven the car at about 70% and it has ALOT!!! more power than mine. It is easy to see it has had around $100k spent on it in the last few years. The previous owner John has owned some of the quickest GTRs in Australia and was one of the first into the 10s then 9s. Tilbrook Dyno in Adelaide could easily verify all power figures.

1st photo is street trim. 2-4 are wearing Mickey Thompson Street Radials at the drags on sunday. Next meeting the V8s in the picture will get caned.

Have got a dodgy camera vid that might make it to Youtube with the Datto & Hypactv vids my brother has already loaded.

  3. Didnt get the GTR clutch fixed in time, so I took the Datto out.

    15.972 @ 83.90 mph

    5 runs learning new setup. Car felt very strong then;

On my 2nd qualifying run I sprung a oil leak on my oil pressure t piece, snapped fitting on the block. So I had to go back to town to get a thread easy out. Fixed and drove home no worries.

  4. If dallas is interested sat/sun some time after the drags could be good.

If numbers are only small we could do it on a weekday say after 5pm.

Has anyone had their car done there recently? How are the cars strapped down?

    Cost per car/run?

Whats the most hp/kw his dyno has seen?

Will he allow GTRs in RWD (fuse pulled)?

I remember seeing a dyno at intune many years ago and TAFE still has theirs. Both probably weren't that accurate.

Hoon articles again  Hopefully some good news about the drags in Fridays edition :)

  5. might be out testing the diff on friday if it arrives on the day but dont think i cruz round we should put together another day cruz the last 1 was choice maybe in a week or two so every 1 got time to get ready for it

Did you end up getting the Nismo? Should last a long time, is the mechanic running it in for you?

Oh ozzy, its alright vidoe. nice launch. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ECIMaY8LYA8

F*ck yeah. Best video yet, keep the hi definition coming.

Have seen alot of police during the last week with speed cameras and breathos. Saw in the NT News that since 2004 only 3 people have had their cars confiscated for 48 hrs under the existing hoon laws. Sounds like we get it pretty easy in the Territory, compared to the rest of the country.

    http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2008/04/08/3810_ntnews.html

Should be Ok to cruise as long as your not drunk, speeding or doing burnouts around town.

Waiting for my twin plate clutch to arrive, then I'm good to go at the drags on 20th.

  6. wat happened ozzy?

i must of left b4 it happened watever it was. if you want that footage of you just let me know

On my last run something definately didnt seem right, car was reving but not accelerating as quick. Then the familiar smell of burnt clutch went through the car. Let her cool off but was still slipping on the way home. Oh well it lasted 2 years, 2 owners and who knows how many tyres.

Saw fabs video on youtube, post mine if its any good. Thanks

Bad luck Fabio on the diff, has your mechanic checked it? Hopefully you can get away with just a new 1.5 - 2 way centre.

  7. I would have spent $75-125 on piss some nights, so it doesnt seem that bad to me for 2 days racing.

    :)

If you bought 4 pit passes as spectators it would cost 4 x $15 for entry, while you get these included in the drivers $75-125 entry fee.

I got approx 15 1/4 passes over the weekend, but I would think there would be more next time with less competiton cars there.

    Go the T51R!

  8. Since the next meet is April 20th. Could you do us all a favor. Since you've been in it now and pay'd for it. Could you place the prices down for us boys. We're all hearing diffrent prices and you've been in it.

So price for Superstreet class? $149 ANDRA year

Price for Street class? $80 ANDRA year

And do we have to get a ANDRA licence? Yes but a $20 day licence is fine

Like wise for the CADRA Licence? Yes it covers insurance, track hire, power & water, parking in pits for your car & pit crew etc

Ah.. How much does it then cost for each meeting? $75 Street & $125 Super Street (includes free entry for 3 pit crew)

What do you need to race? Helmet, overalls or long sleeves & pants, shoes, 1/2 tank of fuel, shade, seat & water (for waiting around)

Whats the go with the $25 membership? is optional but supports the club & only members are eligible for trophys or championship points

Anything else i've missed please put it in. Sorry about the Questions but it be good to hear it from you since you've competed.

These prices are comparable to other tracks I have visited around the country. I have found it is alot more fun being in the pits with your mates(pit crew) than being a spectator. There always was something to see or do and you also get to see behind the scenes during the event. We had 2 3x3metre shade tents we brought for the cars and crew which made things very comfortable. We had 8-10 mates in our area with 3-4 support cars and had visits from family & friends during the day. They all thought it was great.

    :ninja:

  9. CADRA site says next meet is on 20th April.

I would think it might be less formal with less people from interstate and maybe no ANDRA officals.

My average times ranged from 12.2 -12.9 all weekend, while BK was very consistent around the low 12's with a best of 12.1.

The street class was that under represented by imports, I might have to bring my Datto out next time to make up numbers.

I have seen Datto's with similar mods to mine do high 14's.

In drag racing the most consistent win races, not necessarily the fastest.

  10. Just got back from presentation a little while ago.

After cutting short the 3 round qualifying rounds, BK & I were fast tracked to a final based on points.

BK came first and I was runner up in Super Street/Sedan out of 14 entrants(mostly heavily modified V8s). We both received trophys & certificates.

Not bad seeing as we were the only guys in our class who drove to & from the event and werent running slicks.

I didnt get any better times today, either missing gear changes or hitting the rev limiter.

BK got slightly better 1/4 times & mph after changing back to standard rims.

Yesterday was much better as we got more practice and it wasnt as humid.

Fabio & Pinky were in the pits and I saw several guys on the hill supporting us.

Was a good day except some yobbos in the crowd calling out 'take your 4 cyl home(WTF)' 'Jap Crap' etc, but most people were supportive.

Where were all the other imports? If any of you guys entered street class you would have had a good chance to win.

Most of the cars were running very slow, with some of the BIG V8s only running 15-16 second 1/4s.

Street class was taken out by a very tidy Mitsubishi Triton with a SR20 Turbo from Darwin. Runner up was a Falcon.

I didnt get too many photos, so I will be looking foward to seeing everyones pics & vids.

  11. Started off the day with BK and I doing consistent runs between 12.5 -12.8 around 105-110 mph in the heat.

Then at 6.40 pm on the last run of the day we got serious. Dropped our tyre pressures down to 18-20 psi and made the most of the cooler weather.

    BK 12.17685 1/4 112.09 mph

    OT 12.20889 1/4 112.41 mph

I think VSPEC is definately capable of seeing high 11's.

Looking foward to tomorrow 10 am, hope we give some of the V8 guys a good run.

Saw Fab34, thrustt, Mr.Msquito & Rexlr8 guys in the crowd. Also anyone I may have missed, Thanks for the support.

  12. I didn't see a 1 decent commodore pass at all last weekend.

15" stock tyres or 20" bling rims do not = good 1/4 times. Just wheelspin or burnouts.

If any commodore owners fit some decent tyres, then we might see some low times.

I have rotated my tyres and have been doing some 2nd gear testing

Seems to make more smoke than the 1st gear efforts last week.

  13. I paid $25 for CADRA membership and $125 for CADRA Super Street entry (2008 offical events).

Also paid $149 for full Super Street ANDRA licence.

Super Street is good for cars running between 11.00 -12.99. (Standard GTR should do 12.9-13.0)

$25 CADRA membership is optional for half price entry.

For cars slower than 12.99 it is $75 CADRA Street registered entry (2008 offical events).

$20 a day ANDRA licence or $80 year ANDRA licence.

Hopefully they will be running some un-offical off street/test & tune events like they do interstate as they are usually cheaper and more fun. I dont think any have been comfirmed yet!!!

On sunday I found Marion the Treasurer from CADRA very helpfull in the top control tower.

Anyone who hasnt read the latest 'High Performance Imports' #90 Skyline Special, I would strongly recommend it for drag setup tips.

In the next few months I want to pick up some stock R32 GTR rims 16x8 ($600-800set) and 4 Mickey Thompson street legal tyres 255/50/16 ($250-300 each).

    Who said motorsport was cheap?

  14. Cool videos

Had a great day, car ran fine in the heat. Temps never budged all day.

Racing Cameron & Craig in the WRX was definately my highlight of the day. They had me every time till 3/4 track, when I finally caught up. The last run was so close I couldnt pick it. Have to work on my launches and lower my tyre pressures. Anyone get pics or vids of our runs.

Oil change & tyre rotate and I will be all set for next weekend.

Hopefully we will get even more imports and see some more good battles.

If I can give it a shot so can you.. It will be my first run too, so you better!!!

better to do it now than on an official meet..

Who cares if you miss agear man, i'm just gunna take it easy and get a feel..

    Cya there

Everyone should give it a go on Sunday.

It will be the first run for most of us including me.

Hopefully there will be not too many spectators, so if anyone stuffs up it won't be a shame job.

Finally registered my Datto today, on the road at last!
