  1. hi guys, haven't been on here for while but something has come up that you guys my be able to shed light on.

during some research on non turbo models i've come across a variant of the r33 gts that has vented discs on the rear. 266mm by 18mm. to date i believe this model to be named the gts urban liner s (might have a different name in different areas) its an auto (at least the one i know of is) and has the rb20e engine.

anyone ever come across these rear discs before? and more importantly had to source replacements? after much searching replacements for vented rears at this size with integral drum brake are rarer than a Scotsman buying a round of drinks!

any and all help and suggestions would be great.

    si

  2. i take my hat off to you for having the balls to open the bonnet, and the common sense to ask for help on here. we all start somewhere and im going to resist the temptation to poke fun, although you did make me smile.

theres some PDF files floating round the internet which have allthe service info nthe various skyline engines. find one of those and start there. everything is simple if you have the instructions infront of you.......

glad you got it sorted without damage to the engine, and happy motoring.

  3. fit a TSC (torque split controller) then you can dictate to an extent the behaviour of the car. although this wont reduce the 4wd ..just control it. alternatively if you have an r33 unplg the g sensor...howver you still cant run it on a rwd rolling road as itll buggr the transmision. oh and youll hve the abs and 4wd light on come the MOT (or your eqivilant test)

so ..not worth the hassle IMO

  4. "I know a ton of people on the forum that have illegal mods, so by me modding my car its no different to everyone else with their illegal mods. Also i'm not going to be a dickhead in it so i don't need handling etc, i just want a bit more power"

keep up with that attitude my friend and you'll mod yerself right round the nearest tree and into the hospital.

I am from the good ole uk, so know very little of the legalities of the modding situation over there. modifing an NA (and keeping it na) isnt a one part fits all scenario..so have a shop around.

  5. worth it is a subjective, but the whole perpose of the plastic box onthe stock intake of the NA is to make the intake quieter and improve low end response. so it would make sense that if removed it gets louder. I know at top end (private road) form fourth to fith at 5500 revs my cars makes a very discernible "bov like" sound at gear change. so shes puling a fair amount through.

still need toclean the afm...will let ya know if it sorts it.

    si.

  6. thanks n-dawg, your post was great and actually serves two purposes.

i agree that perhaps lammys information may have been better in the specific section "how to turbo your NA" ....

    BUT..also

the mere fact that this forum HAS a "how to turbo your NA" specific thread says volumes about how you guys view NA skyline varients. when i first aquired mine and began the learning curve, over here in uk there were almost exclusively dismissed as not worth bothering with.

hopefully once attitudes change a little over here in the uk...(which has to some extent happened) then we may get to a situation where turbo'd NA's are seen as "nothing new" or a standard sort of mod. you guys are some way further down that road than us.....

hence the reason i've been shamlessly reading allthe info on here for the past 2 years....lol

  7. eug i think thats the hicas......erm han on ..no ..memory playing tricks..the did change the attessa to attessa ETS and ETS (pro??)

interestingly the gesnsors all have same part number except the modle code...and my car is rtunning fine ona 32 generation sensor ...

yes indeed i have the 4wd and slip lights. but no gauge to say how much torque goes to the front wheels ala the r32 gts4 and the r33 gtr. and although the slip light comes on when im booting it ..the car drives differently even at low speeds when no slip is being lit up....thus i am going to go withthe idea that a proportion of the power goes tothe front on a gts4 r33 all the time...after all 200 times a second is kinda fast to check grip levels isnt it lol....

with regard to brakes. i have ABS (uses same sensors as the 4wd on the wheels) fault on one system will knock out both ..(as mine did ..due to g sensor failing...both lights up on dash fault code 63 if anyone is looking.....flashes onthe ecu in the boot 6 then 3 ...repeated)

size of the r33 gts4 brakes are identical tothe gts25. i had both..the gts25s (rb25de auto 5 speed) and the gts4 saloon...brakes are identical dimentions calipers.

however the rb20e engined r33gts would appear to have smaller brakes....and also in some cases is listed as having different suspension ..though peoplehave fitted gts and gts t springs with no problems.
