  1. hi having trouble with my rb25det, last night decided it wouldnt rev past 2500 jsut coughs and wont actually go past 2500, idles fine, but its blowing lots of fuel out the back plugs new and gapped at .9 they have been in and running for over a week with no troubles, have tried a mates afm that made no difference, any ideas on problem, thanks rusty
  2. hey blackas sysmptoms sound the same as my engine was in its early stages of its death, mine was lower on compression in 2 of the cylinders tho, when the engine was stripped for rebuild, lowest cylinders had the sides burnt 0ut of the piston the others cracked rings, get it check by sumone who knows what they are on about. think you pressurise the sump and do the reverse of the compression test to find out if its blowing back through or sumthing like that. any way good luck or maybe time for a 25

Hey guys, after buy myself a 1994model r33 jsut before christmas, today i found out the engine has had enough and has blown 2 pistons, car still runs drives(not very well tho) so it is time to rebuild, basically im not after another 2nd hand engine at all, going down the path of a rebuild so i know what i got this time, so i got a roughish quote for 6g forgies metal head gasket bore build bearings studs, so what have others done whats about for that price range what good bits are out there what to do while the motors apart rb 30 bottom end etc etc? any advice apreciated,,so far looking to spend around the 6 grand mark in around 8 weeks time thanks Rusty
  6. thought maybe that, but due to the even drop on 2 cylinders , thought it made sense to be the head gasket blown between cylinders and through a oil port( hence the smoke and not using water),,
  7. did a comp test, cyl 1- 55psi, 2 -60psi the rest 130 psi, spoken to a few people they seem to think its the head gasket, will do another compression test with oil in cyl tomorrow to see if its the piston rings??
  8. thanks guys wil be doing a compression test tomorrow arvo, will also check for a stuck pcv valve, will post up the outcome,
  9. pvc valve is all as per factory, from inlet manifold to rocker cover,, ill check over that tomorrow when i get time after work, also going to give it a compression test, and a new set of plugs to see where that gets me,
  10. hey guys, ive got a 94 r33 rb25DET and need some help with problems, was driving the other days running sweet, then started spluttereing and shit load of smoke blew out the exhaust, oil pressure dropped right off, so i stopped let it sit, restarted.. oil pressure fine again, but had a splutter kinda runs like vw motor there is no knock tho.. ive stripped the intercooler pipe work to check the turbo, oil on pipe and sitting at the mouth of the turbo, pulled out the plugs the find the front plug badly fouled, other plugs were fine, can anyone please help shed some light on what trouble im up for? ALSO wondering what the allowable shaft play is on the stock turbo, i seem to have a excessive amount of play in the turbo now but is there a measurement or how much is to much???
  11. hey guys i currently have a 94 r33 rb25det manual, problem is, i was driving yesterday noticing lack in power in high revs, to look out the back and see a nice cloud of smoke,( thought it was clutch splipping) but looked under car when i couldnt smell clutch to see oil in the plastic underbody, and small amounts around the block on idle the car does not blow smoke if reved will produce smoke the higher the rev the mroe smoke, i removed the intake pipe work to find them nicely oiled, any help with what problem i have on my hands?? thanks rusty
