A person on this forum (he had an STi with a Power FC and a turbo back exhaust, NOTHING else) and he apparently did 12.5 seconds qtr mile, at standard boost! My car can't even do that now I don't think?? WIth the boost wound up on the STi He surely would'e broken into the high 11's, no? -

So you're saying that a GTR with the standard turbo's can be quicker then my car now? So what will be better for money, I only want mid 11's, an STi or a GTR R33, which one can I modify cheaper to break into mid 11's? -

I really to feel threatened by the STi? I already have a very good beilstien suspension setup in my car with good 235 bridgestone tyres. Maybe the real question I need to ask is: Sould I spend more $$ on my car (Forged internals and cams), or should I get a r33 GTR? Would a GTR with the standard turbos, running say 15PSI, with a PFC, turbo back exhaust, injectors and fuel pump, beat my car from 60kmph onwards (i.e rolling start) -

Do you think, since I've already put so much money into this car I should do the following: 1) Cams ($2000) 2) Forge internals ($6000) 3) Wind up boost to about 22 PSI (Currently at 17 PSI making 272rwkw) 4) Very thick tyres and wheels on the back I think with that I should break past the 310 rwkw barrier and go into high 11's? -

What sort of qtr mile time would I expect from a r33 GTR with the standard turbos running 15 PSI, full exhaust system, and a POWER FC? -

I don't want HUGE power. I only want to break into the low 11's on the qtr mile (i.e. 11.3 sec). With a GTS-T what will be very difficult and I'd have to spend big $$$. However, with an STi, you could do it relatively cheap, am I right? Cheers -
Hi guys, As you may know, my skyline is currently pushing out 272.3 rwkw with the following mods: HKS GT2835 Pro S GReddy FMIC Bosch 040 Fuel pump nismo 555cc injetors CAI with pod filter 3.5 inch Turbo back exhaust with split dump splitfire coilpacks Z32 AFM Power FC My brother just approached me this arvo saying he has a friend with an STi pulling out 190kw at all four wheels that wanted to race. I was thinking in my head, I should cream this guy, 190awkw converts to about 230rwkw (x1.2), right? Then I went on a WRX forum, and I had a read at some quater mile times. Many of the STi owners with 180 - 190 awkw were doing high 11s down the 1/4mile strip. I haven't taken my car down the strip yet, but I know from others GTS-T owners that have simular mods that I would run around mid 12s, in other words, I'd get my ass owned by an STi with around 190 awkw. The funny thing is, these STi's only have a turbo back exhaust and wind up the boost with a reset ECU, that's crazy! I've spent like $12,000 on my car so far for mid 12's? Now don't get me wrong, I love my skyline to death, I would kill for it, but investing so much money into the car ($13,500 purchase price and $12,00 mods = $25,500), when I could've gotten a faster car for around the same price (Stock STi 2000 model- about $24,000). What do you guys think, should I sell my car and buy a STi?? Because at this stage, the only thing more I can do with my car is invest big money for a little more power (i.e. forge internals & wind up boost, Cams etc etc) and I still wouldn't be able to beat the STi!! It's driving me crazy! Your opinions would be greatly appreciated. I know some of you will say, "why don't you buy a GTR?" Reason being is because they are more expensive to do up. I had a chat to my mechanic, and he told me that unless you got big $$$, not to get a GTR because they cost alot more to do up, not to mention that the purchase price of a stock one is like 27,000 for a good condition r33 GTR. So, what do you guys think, should I sell my GTS-T R33 and get a STi?? Also, how much do you guys think that I'll get for my car, it's in near new condition? Cheers

Hey thanks for the comment. I'm using 235's and they are bridgestone, not sure what model and CBF checking. What's the thickest tyre do you think I could put on 7.5" wide rims? Could I go 245? I'm looking for 17 x 7.5 on the front and 17 x 8.5 on the rear but no one sells such rims for a cheap price these days. Any recommendations? I know Work sell them but they are like $2,400 JUST for the wheels themselves! -

Please don't come on this forum and insult peoples' cars and what mods they have. The GT-RS is a great turbo and I'm sure all those people who have been in a car with that turbo will agree with me. Cheers -

I don't know what a 'lip stick' camera is, forgive my ignorance. Nonetheless, the camera I used was just an ordinary still shot camera in video mode. I merely wrapped cloth tape (VERY sticky sticky tape) around the camera and steering column to ensure it doesn't move around, simple as that. Cheers. -

Turbz RB-25 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm not saying that the turbo is a lag monster, but compared to the stock turbo (especially when I first got in the car after the dyno tune), it was sooooo much laggier than the stock turbo... But when it hits, it's nothing but smiles! Thanks for all the comments guys. VERY nice turbo (HKS GT2835 Pro S) indeed. cheers -

Cheers mate. Yeah, ofcourse I was on a closed runway! Mafia, when you achieved your 12.4 1/4 mile time, what was your 0-60 time? I thought with 314rwkw you should be in the VERY low 12's, maybe even break into the high 11s? -
Hks Gt2835 Pro S Turbo 272.3 Rwkw
Turbz RB-25 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey mate, don't mind you asking at all. The turbo was about $3,250 delivered to Canberra, Australia. I paid a little more as I wanted to pay with paypal (ALWAYS PAY WITH PAYPAL when buying things from overseas!!!. Running about 17-18PSI (It fluctuates depending on the weather) I got the normal mods; 555cc Nismo Injectors, Bocsh 040 fuel pump, GReddy front mount, Splitfire coilpacks, straight through exhaust, power FC, Cold air intake with heat shield, and the HKS GT2835 turbo with the HKS split dump pipe. The turbo is ALOT laggier than stock, but yes MUCH MUCH tougher! Personally, I don't think its worth it compared to the GT-RS, if I had a second chance, I would've gone for the GT-RS, purely because of the money factor. But then again, you do get the split dump with the 2835 turbo kit..... Nonetheless, both are great turbos! Cheers -
Hi guys, Just thought I might share my video with ya'll. Went for a drive this morning (nice and cold), got up to about 200km/h. Have alot of traction issues in 1st and 2nd gear, sometimes even third if you smash the gears in. What do you guys think, not bad acceleration? cheers

Hks Gt2835 Pro S Turbo Installed And Tunned!
Turbz RB-25 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey guys, I had a look at GTS25T dyno, he has the same turbo as mine, no cams, pretty much the same mods, and at about 90km/h, he has about 30 rwkw more then me.... Now, this could be due to the following: 1) The tunner didn't step on it until 3000 rpm, (which I don't think is the case as boost appears to be rising at a more rapid rate all the way) at 89km/h, boost is at 12PSI. 2) the tunner doesn't know what he's doing 3) something is up with my turbo? (I got the 0.68 A/R housing) DO you guys think I should go back and have a chat with my tunner? -
Hks Gt2835 Pro S Turbo Installed And Tunned!
Turbz RB-25 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
EDIT: Hi Guys, 18 PSI was reached at 93.4 KM/H. And sorry, I thought it was 18 PSI that I was running, but it was 17 PSI that I was running when I achieved the 272.3 RWKW. Boost spiked up to about 20 PSI ( I have a turbo tech boost controller, looking to buy a PFC Boost controller kit to avoid the spike) and gradually dropped down to 17 PSI. So just to confirm, the 272.3 rwkw was acheived when the boost was at 17 PSI. (Boost remained at 17 PSI from about 156KM/h until the end (180KM/H) -

Hks Gt2835 Pro S Turbo Installed And Tunned!
Turbz RB-25 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
18 PSI was reached at 95 KM/H. I don't know the conversion of KM/H to PRM. About 3,500 RPM I assume? Yes I have splitfire coil packs and platinum spark plugs. I'm not too sure what the tunner re-gapped them too, but I do recall that he did regap them. Not sure about when he put his foot on the pedal? I think the jittery graph may have been from the wheels spinning, even on the road, when it reaches full boost the wheels are spinning insanely in 2nd. Do you think I should take the car back to the tunner to resolver the jittery dyno? And is my turbo spooling up late assuming that he had his foot on the pedal the whole time? Cheers -

Turbz RB-25 replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yes mine's a RB-25. I have a Power FC, I and strongly suggest you get one to. A remapp doesn't have any where near as many adjustable parameters as the PowerFC does. That's just my 2 cents worth. I have the 0.68A/R housing. I would have gone for something like a GT-RS for an RB-20. Even in my car (RB-25) there is a MASSIVE difference between the stock turbo and this one in terms of spool time. Having now installed it, I strongly suggest you get something smaller. Cheerio! -
Hi Guys, Finally got the install, tune and dyno done, here it is, I just thought I might share it with ya'll. This figure was achieved at 18PSI. I have no cams, just the usualy supporting mods, ie 555 cc injectors, Z32, front mount, exhaust etc etc. 272.3 RWKW. The Curve does look very jittery up top, not sure why? Cheers
